I do think we're in the midst of a media literacy crisis but I attribute that more to the explosion of digital media, a broad devaluing of the arts, enshittification, the creep of capitalism on our work-life balance, and the rise of pseudo intellectual tastemakers and influencers. And yes, the covid lockdown certainly allowed these elements to proliferate and evolve at a higher rate, but all this was going on even before 2020.
