There is nothing
I am the most pathetic human alive
Eat Sleep Destroy Repeat
This cycle I live in.
I dont want to live in it anymore.
I dont want to live anymore
Another step closer
So, when I feel like this I have thoughts.
Thoughts of escape...
I would however argue on behalf of myself, that despite my inability to cope with reality, there is one line I will never cross ... but lately I’ve been dipping my toes in the idea and it’s becoming less and less daunting.
Respectively though, I do consider the consequences and rational thought guides me back to safety.
Today was different though. I was listening to a song when I had — what can only be described as an epiphany — a moment of absolute clarity where I asked myself if I was still afraid, and I answered honestly, ‘no’.
That truly frightens me.
I laughed
So I posted the below photo to Instagram. People did not note the tags and assume I hurt myself skateboarding or at bjj.
Oh if only it was so...
Without screaming it at them I don’t know what else to say....
‘NO — I took a blade and ran it down my arm”
It’s not you
Don’t you see?
It’s never been you.
It was and will always be me
I walk Alone
I sleep with desperate dreams,
I sit in absolute darkness,
but I stand alone.
I smile in transient peace,
I scream beyond the decibels,
but I weep alone.
I observe with stunning detail,
I watch with the diseased world,
but I learn alone.
I wander into a sky full of stars,
Along nature's beautiful walls,
but I walk alone.

This endless cycle
I stopped posting for a while.
Things were good.
When I say good, they weren’t really. They never are, but let me rephrase - things were better. I found something I could channel my energy into. That magical cure that everyone always talks to you about but seems to be impossible to achieve. Anyway, a community.
I poured my heart into it and it distracted me from myself. Man... writing those words are hard to repeat to myself. I need to live my life distracting myself from me ... how pathetic.
I met a group of incredible people and felt accepted. I had ups and downs, and I’m sure they noticed, but they were kind and patient and in my eyes - forgave me.
And yet here I stand, in the ashes of all of that. I marvel at its destruction. I marvel at the toxicity of my mind. I ruined it. I ruined everything.
I try to talk about it, to explain it, but when I listen to myself, even I think I’m being deluded and irrational. So why - I cry out - why can I not control my behaviour?
I spoke a friend last night and I think I’ve managed to define what this disease is doing to me. Someone will say something to me - something that a rational person would acknowledge and or ignore. Either way, nothing to get worked up about. But I will take this information and mull it over and over until I snap. I don’t know what it’s like for others but when I snap, I’ll say or do something that I immediately regret - without fail. EVERY TIME.
Then my reaction to what has happened becomes an overreaction and the more I try to back track and apologise, the worse it becomes. In the end I sit alone. Ostracised for my inability to be rational, for my inability to find reason in myself.
Then begins the true struggle — the struggle and hope that I haven’t pushed too far - that people will understand and forgive me. That I am desperately humiliated by my own behaviour and am sorry beyond reckoning.
I don’t want to live like this. Lost in my own mind.
All I can say is I am deeply mortified by my behaviour, I am grateful that my apology was accepted but I know moving forward I will be viewed through different eyes, and yet, the part of me that’s me and hasn’t changed is devastated that this is how it is now.
My life is vibrant and so full of colour and yet I’m locked away inside the darkest parts of myself, unable to enjoy it. It’s a hard way to live ...
Nothing Changes
I have been absent from my blog for a while. So many changes ...
Based on the last 3 years, I finally gathered the courage to leave behind something that was very dear to me, but also introduced some of the greatest ‘hurt’ I have experienced.
People say I’m a pessimist. People question my happiness. I don't believe in it.
To me happiness is something you have to work for. It is earned. I have lost so so much and I cannot fathom that I could still lose more; yet here I am.
A week ago my cat stopped eating. I took him to the vet and they kept him overnight. They filled him with an IV and assured me he had eaten. All symptoms pointed towards his hyperthyroidism and that I should not worry, it would pass.
That evening, I watched as he withered in pain. Not only could he not relieve himself of the amount of liquid he had been filled with, but he was visibly in considerable pain. Here I am blessed. A close friend worked for the local Animal Emergency Service and suggested I take him in. That way they could expedite him for an ultrasound the following morning. I was hesitant, as it was a long way across town, but eventually decided he could take no more and drove him out.
Now let me clarify - to most people, cats are pets. Nothing more than a living accessory. To me, that is not the case. I am a cat person through-and-through. My cats are my children (as I have no human children). They chose me - more to the point - he chose me, as a little kitten, smoothing his face through the cage and telling me in no uncertain terms, that I belonged to him and his sister and he would be coming home with me. So began my journey with these two monsters almost 13 years ago.
Of all the cats I have owned, never have I experienced a personality like his. He is loyal like a dog, caring and playful, comforting and curious. He has been perfect. When friendships made, became friendships lost, he remained stoically at my side. He has always been there for me. Through countless promises broken that I will never need to be sad, or feel anxious about people again. He was there.
The following day I received a call from the Medical Team. Every aspect of what could be a worst case scenario, had come true. For the months and months of lugging him back and forth to the vet, they never once checked, what now appear to be obvious signs of trouble. I am beyond devastated. I feel that again, the people I entrust the most have let me down.
My boy-cat is okay, for now, but starts an aggressive course of chemotherapy.
As this is the doctor’s main focus, his previously ‘undiagnosed’ heart condition is not as big a concern, but a worry non-the-less.
I dunno, humans, we suck
Will tomorrow ever come?
They say live in the here - live in the now... But I hate the now! I hate my mind! I hate my thoughts - I fear I am slowly dying on the inside. Some days I pray it would all just end... If only ... *sigh*
Exposed
So, its been a little while since my last post, but here is the deal…
My life took an incredible turn when i realised i suffered from Anxiety. Suddenly I was able to identify my emotions and reactions - classify them - understand them. Suddenly may things started to make sense - or so I thought.
Tonight, as I sit here mulling over my life (again), I feel lost. Trapped by walls I built to protect myself, but unwittingly locked even myself out. Reflecting on these thoughts - acknowledging them - knowing what I’ve done - to MYSELF - I’m devastated…
I have taken everything that matters to me, emotionally, creatively and psychologically and locked them away and now I cannot find the key.
Today whilst talking to my Mindfulness Therapist, I disclosed to him that I felt like a complete and utter failure. That was hard. Hard to admit to myself…
I am failing at many things and today I felt utterly exposed. I know that talking about it to someone who listens, is the first step to moving forward, but I came home and felt lower than I have in a long time. Even the chaos inside my head felt subdued. Today I felt desparately alone. Alone and afraid. Afraid that I have lost myself and it broke my heart.
Today I broke my own heart…
I LOVE this article posted on Huffington. Every point is spot on. I consider myself pretty open to the fact that I suffer from Anxiety, but I have experienced doubt regarding its validity as an actual condition more times than I can count. Our lives are chaotic and crazy with no time to just stop and breathe and appreciate a moment of silence...
Peace and Quiet
Today has been an intense day of riding the crazy emotional roller coaster that is my life. I have been up and down to such extremes today, I don't know which way to turn. If I had to dissect my current state I would say I have marched across a field of depression, whilst anxiously stumbling towards the cliffs of oblivion. I don't know if I can bear another day like today. Generally I find if I busy myself with some or other task, I settle down, but today nothing seems accomplishable... I think the hardest part of feeling this way is that I don't understand why? It makes me so sad to know that I don't understand what's going on with me or why... Somedays I do wish for only silence and darkness... Peace and quiet
I just don't understand?
I’m afraid today’s update has not inspired my creativity, for I find myself completely stunned by recent happenings within my life circle.
Not to long ago, I had the incredible privilege to meet a couple of spectacular personalities. I now call them friends and am disturbed by the situation that they now find themselves in. Malicious intent by someone else has turned their world upside down. Why? Why is there this need within us to destroy the happiness of others. It’s scenarios like this that leave me hating humanity. I know having Anxiety exacerbates any reactions I have and knowing my knack for loving people too much, I am affected deeply by what’s happened.
I know they will not ever read this - but for those of you who do - love the people who matter and be wary of the rest
Shutting out the world I love my fat little cat. She so perfectly copes with stress by smashing her face into the couch. I must try this during my next panic attack...
Defining Anxiety: Patience vs Impatience
As an illustrator and artist, the greatest lesson we can learn is that of patience.
Mix in a mental disorder like Anxiety and best of luck…
By comparing this drawing to the one I previously loaded, you can see the subtle differences in my mood. Earlier today when I drew the hourglass, I was feeling completely overwhelmed. As such, to myself, it seems rushed and actually quite rubbish. Im sure others will see it differently, but I hate it.
A few hours and a plate of food later, and I spent only 20 minutes on this little guy. Look at the difference between a five minute sketch and a 20 minute sketch. That and the fact that I temporarily put aside my fear for living.
Anxiety is such a difficult topic - not to be confused with being bipolar. It has many facets and most people wont admit to suffering from it because it defines us as failing to cope with daily life. I personally find myself rushing from one situation to the next just so that I can escape it. Every minute is new challenge…every challenge is a struggle… Acknowledging that is heartbreaking.
Life Hours
Life Hours
Here I am again pondering my life. Its funny. Now that I have all this free time, I find myself inwardly reflecting and to be perfectly honest, the view ain't all that pretty.
I feel as though I have no direction. There is so much that I want to do, but my mind becomes so cluttered with ideas that I find I am figuratively being buried alive - drowning inside.
I so desperately want to succeed. At anything. It depresses me so much to know that I am the biggest hurdle in my life. The fear of myself is all that stops me… Every thought, every emotion just gives me a headache. This constant angst, constant need to move forward is more than I can bear. Oh that I could only hear myself speak somedays? Why is this need to impress those who realistically don't matter, such a driving force in our lives? Recently I was asked by a relatively new friend in my life - why are you wasting your ‘life’ time - literally - the hours of your life - trying to impress people who don't appreciate it? You have ONE life - one chance to live - why not do it for you? The people who truly matter are the ones who will be there at both the beginning and end of your life journey. Think about it. That definitely thins the ranks.
Less talk - more focus - support can come from anywhere - the difference is determining at what price...
