@cassandraclare
i LOVE the direction we’re taking with the necromancy plot for Livvy and Ty, but i can’t get over the fact that we’re in the same universe as Lucie Herondale and Jesse Blackthorn, and Lucie barely got any backlash.
the only reasonable explanation is that Lucie’s price to pay is the way she has doomed her lineage (with Malcom’s rage and all).
but it’s still kinda funny when i think that Ty is being scolded and looked upon from literally everyone cause he tried to bring back his TWIN SISTER, after experiencing countless losses in his family from such a young age + he’s probably suffering from him and Livvy’s bond, and then Lucie got away with it with the power of friendship and by being a nepobaby when she raised a stranger cause she fell in love
all i’m saying is that Lucie Herondale performing necromancy should’ve been cooler and more relevant.
Love Lucie and Jesse with all my heart but the fact that the Clave let them go without any consequence…. Only possible explanation for me is Charlotte and the whole TID characters cashing favours out like crazy and even with that….
Livvy’s arc being about the consequences of cheating death (& all that comes with it) in the same book where Clary features prominently because she’s kidnapped by the physical manifestation of the consequences of her actions (which were… also cheating death)
I think we should talk more about the implications of Clary specifically being a pivotal character in TWP, given the parallels to Ty
Never shutting up about necromancy (or reviving the death) being the reason that 3/4 of TWP protagonists exist.
Lucie—> Jesse ———> Ty and Dru
Clary—> Jace —> Which lead to Lilith bringing back Sebastian ———> Ash
And while is not the same, Kit existace is thanks to ‘cheating the death’ from both the lost herondale and later the descendants of the first heir (wouldn’t be surprise if Roland died or was incredibly close and got saved by Auraline and her powers)
We already see how Clary’s wish lead a domino effect that ended up with a big change in the whole shadoworld.
Even Lucie and her quest to revive Jesse led to Malcom reviving Annabel, that later led to the death of Lucie and Jesse descendant.
Malcom’s necromancy trip ended up being his own death.
And Ty attempt… well we will see how it bites back….
I feel like Magnus is going to break his long standing tradition of getting involved with the current shadowhunters group
Ty would literally rather die and keep his scars a secret before facing the possibility of loosing Livvy, but I don‘t think any of us are ready for that conversation
the one and only Emma Cordelia Carstairs 😌✨
IMAGINE
Ty: Do you still mean it?
Kit: What?
Ty: You told me you loved me that night. Do you still mean it?
The way the Blackthorn family love interest could be summarised in:
- Blonde/ish (x6): Malcom, Nerissa, Emma, Kit, Ash, Tobias
- Dark/brown haired individual whose parent hold great political power (x6): Tatiana, Lucie, Christopher, Aline, Cristina, Kieran
More categories:
-Tragedy( x5): Tobias, Tatiana, Nerissa, Christopher, Malcom
- Fairy (x4): Nerissa, Kieran, Kit, Ash
- Forbidden/impossible romance (x3 or 4): Malcom, Jesse, Emma, Aline(?
-Without you gets a new hobby (Necromancy)(x2): Malcom, Lucie
Congratulations to the Carstairs family for having your crushes and parabatais obsessed with you!
Cassie saying Ty Blackthorn is the first ever TSC main character who doesn’t lie to himself about his feelings and knows exactly what he’s feeling, never being dishonest about it in his head is just perfect and makes so much sense.
I just can‘t put into words how excited I am for his POV - it‘s going to be amazing
imagine the switch from that pov to Kit gaslighting himself 24/7. it’s going to be a wild ride
Clary and Ash pt 2 ….More like Jocelyn and the Seelie Queen
Aside from the physical appearance of both Jocelyn and the Queen… I couldn’t help but notice some similarities about their story.
- Both of them had two children
- Their firstborn, Jonathan-Sebastian and Auraline were intended to begin a new era. Valentine experimented with Jocelyn’s son so he could be something better than shadowhunters and downworlders. The Unseelie King also experimented to a certain extent with Auraline (but this time with the Queen knowledge) to have a fairy heir that would unite the courts and end the shadowhunters
- Both Jonathan and Auraline where not what their fathers expected, and where taken away from their mothers.
- Both children end up growing up without a connection to their mothers, and with the prophecy or predilection to doom the world
- Later on life they both have another child. Jocelyn thinks that Valentine never had the opportunity to experiment on Clary, but she is wrong. Yet this child grows up without her mother at least. The Seelie Queen while not a very present mother, she does show concern for Ash, and is raised at her court, watched over. But even with Ash being Sebastian’s son, the Unseelie King still wants him. Ash becomes the second child of the Queen that has been experimented on by the King
- Despite their efforts, both Valentine and the Unseelie King tamper with Jocelyn’s and the Queen’s second child. They both can’t stop the reach those men have over their children
- And later their firstborn comes back somehow to haunt them too. Sebastian comes back as the dark shadow of Jocelyn’s firstborn, the boy she thought dead. Kit comes back as the shadow left by Auraline, something the Queen never expected.
- While the Queen is not a loving mother, she will obviously choose to protect Ash ( as she believes) against the shadow of her first born, justa as Jocelyn, a woman who loved and hated her son would always protect Clary against the shadow of Jonathan.
ty being the first tsc protagonist who doesn’t lie to himself about his feelings is how you know he’s one of the greatest characters of all time bc finding a tsc character who isn’t in denial about their feelings somehow is like trying to find life on venus
So after thinking over what Cassie has shared I’m going to make a list to try and get my thoughts together.
1) I can’t wait to the see the friendship between Ash and Ty. I know it’s going to be one of my favorite dynamics in the series. I wonder if Ash is going to be the one to spill Ty’s secret to everyone or just Dru. If it’s related to the spell Ty performed I can see how Ash would be the one to be able to tell with his history. Something I remember Cassie saying is that the whereabouts of the Volume of the Dead is unknown after Queen but I can’t help but think that Ash has it and has been studying it to find a way to reverse the spells placed on him. Do you think Ash would perform the reversal spell himself (if that’s possible) or if Ty will since we know he has been dabbling in magic with Kit augmenting the strength of the spell.
2) I can’t help wondering who the hell Ty has kissed that it would be spoiler. Cassie said there is not going to be a love triangle between them so why make it such a big deal who he has kissed or dated in the past that it has to kept a secret for two books. Even if she doesn’t want to Kit to know why does it have to be secret from the reader? I was going to dismiss Anush as a possibility based on what Ty said in SoBH but it is possible that Anush is bisexual and they kissed before he wrote that letter and decided they were better off as friends. I feel like Anush is the most likely candidate because he’s the only character besides Ragnor we know Ty has interacted with unless it’s a completely new character. I think it would be strange for Ty to get so close to someone so quickly but it’s not impossible especially if it was just for an experiment.
3) I’ve seen some people freaking out about Cassie calling Ty and Kit star-crossed and based on the definition pretty much every couple in TSC would qualify so I don’t think we should be worried to much. I’m sure there is not going to be angst beyond what’s normal for a Cassandra Clare book. None of her protagonists have ever had an ending that wasn’t happy but that doesn’t mean that their journey to that happy ending won’t be brutal.
4) I wonder how Ty knows that the relationship between Kit and Hazel wasn’t serious. Is it because of how short lived it was or the fact that if it was serious Kit would know if she was a werewolf or not? If Kit was in love with her how could he not know something so important? It’d be like if Julian didn’t know about Emma’s wall of crazy.
-About the Ash theory, I also thought about him studying ways to reverse his curse, but I didn’t thought about him having the Black Volume of Dead, but it could make sense. Perhaps he has the Thule version of it? After all Janus and him needed the spell inside the book to open a portal ( or perhaps it was just Ash’s power alone
- For me Anush is also a very likely candidate, unless is someone new that he met during his investigation and will be plot relevant later ( a fairy or warlock perhaps). But then again, as you said, he probably is someone with who he has at least a half strong connection
-Yeah, I doubt it will be an unhappy ending for either of the main couples. For me the worst case scenario cc would put them at the ‘end’ is something like Sizzy in CoHF, but I doubt it ( more like praying)
-And about the Hazel situation, like you said
THE WORLDS IN THE SHADOWHUNTER UNIVERSE
So, I'm really confused about how the whole worlds/dimensions work in the Shadowhunter universe, and I thought maybe someone knows if this has been addressed and can help me.
My first question is: Are worlds and dimensions the same thing?
Bc Thule is both defined as a "world" and as a "dimension" in different parts of QOAAD.
We know there are several worlds/dimensions (the normal one, Thule, Edom...) and at least in Thule there are all these copies of the people in the normal world. But, are there also copies of demons?
Because at least there seems to be a copy of Lilith (as her character did different things in each world: killing Clary in Thule was the most different action). And it's said, "In your world, the demon Lilith was too weak to render Sebastian Morgenstern much help. In Thule, another demon gave aid and strength to Lilith."
So it has to be two Liliths, right? Because otherwise, how can she be too weak to help normal Sebastian and, at the same time, be strong enough, thanks to a demon, to help Thule Sebastian...?
But then, does that mean that there are two Liliths in the universe? Isn't that a bit weird? And does that also mean there are copies of the demons (like the one who gave aid to Lilith in the Thule version but not in the normal Earth version), Princes of Hell, angels… God? Wouldn't that make no sense at all?
And also, what is going on with the "there are different afterlives/hells/heavens"?
Because in one of the stories of Better in Black, Emma from Thule is thinking about how, because she has died in the normal world, she is never going to be reunited with Julian!Thule as they are going to go to different hells/afterlives . So there are also two different afterlives depending on the world you are in?
And I cannot stop from thinking about how all that impacts TWP.
Like, do the prophecies of the last heir, the last Shadowhunter, and all the apocalyptic things that we are going to see in TWP only apply to the normal world? Like, the Princes of Hell and Lucifer are only coming to the normal world?...
Or maybe there are other versions of the princes and Lucifer in Thule... but those demons don't really live on earth; they have their own worlds, so... there are also copies of their demon worlds...
I don't know if I'm making any sense, if it's just me, or the whole worlds/dimensions and Thule plot might not have the strongest worldbuilding.
Anyway, I would love to hear if someone actually understands how it works and can enlighten me.
Dru and Kit having ex partners, Ty having his first kiss… you know who’s never been mentioned??? Ash. That boy is lonely af
His situation is tricky not only because of being locked up in different places but also because of the loyalty spell… like cc already told us about his dilemas with having friends…. I wouldn’t be surprised if he kept complete away of any romantic interaction or if he tried something with someone and quickly find out how his spell can affect others (and freaked out even more)
WHO THE FUCK DID TY KISS AND WHY IS IT A SPOILER??? I NEED TO KNOW OR I WILL NOT BREATH PLS
It is Thule!Kit 100% 🙂↕️
