I know this is a hard concept for people to grasp, especially in this fandom, but -

It's okay to like different things.

Fandom doesn't have to be a hivemind. People are allowed to have different opinions about who ships with who, which characters are cool, their preferred villains.

The key here is to just not be an asshole about it.

I just have to say this and move on, but I hope all sides of this fandom know that once it is all over and the endgames are known, the other ship will not simply vanish. Gwynriel and Elucien will not disappear if elriel is endgame. Elriel will not disappear if Gwynriel and Elucien are endgame. People will keep shipping, writing drawing and loving their ships. We are allowed to do that. Everybody is.

I feel so bad for Eris Vanserra; he keeps correctly reading the situation and then having people get mad at him for doing what they wanted him to do.

Mor sleeps with Cassian in the hopes of that ending her engagement with Eris. Eris hears about it and is like, she slept with Cassian? I am ending our engagement. For all we know he gave Mor a fucking wink and thumbs up from across the room as he said it; I doubt she would have noticed or cared regardless.

Mor gets dumped on the Autumn Court border by Keir (and it’s weird that all the blame and anger about this situation seems to be directed at Eris and not Keir, you know the one who actually tortured her). And Eris is like don’t touch her or she’s our responsibility. Hey Mor, checking in, you don’t want to become our responsibility and be forced to live in the Autumn Court, right? And Mor is like I’d rather die, asshole. And Eris is like, got it, roll out boys. And given that we know Eris sent an anonymous tip to Tamlin when Lucien went on the run, it does not seem crazy to assume that after the encounter with Mor, Eris might have secretly sent Azi a note like come get your girl.

And then we have the plan to have Nesta seduce Eris at the ball in order to strengthen his commitment to their alliance. And after he dances with her he goes to Rhysand and is like, hey, I noticed you had Nesta come seduce me and yes, I am in, let’s discuss marriage alliance.

And yet somehow he’s the asshole in these situations. Poor guy.

Was chatting with @chelseamorninggirl when a (ridiculous but intriguing) thought popped into my head:

What if High Lord/Lady was both a title AND an entity? (Maybe like the Trill from Star Trek but also I was really thinking something more elemental...? The possibilities are endless, though, tbh.)

Only those most suited to host this entity show heir markers; and to accept the mantle means that you'll always have a second presence within you, a little hitchhiker of sorts with its own desires and agenda whispering in your ear.

Better yet, to become High Lord also means giving a part of yourself up. Not your name necessarily (though I do like the idea of a regnal name), and not even who you were before (because now you're not, for example, Oberon Vanserra but Beron I, the very soul and the fury of Autumn and the literal embodiment of its magic), but a piece of what makes you you, carved from your soul.

No matter how much you claim to hate the ship war, I just flat out won't believe you if all you do is post about it, engage with the discourse, and allow the drama to upset you so much.

Apathy is the only way to free yourself. Seriously, more of you should try just not giving a fuck what people do or say. I have an idea. Every time you see something that pisses you off that is related to the ship war, leave a nice comment on someone's fanart or fanfic instead. You don't create the positive community you want by fixating on drama.

In an ideal world, Lucien and Azriel could bond over their shared insecurities regarding their very visible scars. They could bond over being the bastard son of a Lord. They could bond over their shared devotion to their mothers.

One is a social butterfly, the other is a social recluse. One is light, one is darkness.
