Going on a bachelorette trip this weekend including the following:

1. A bride, who half the time I’m pretty sure hates me

2. The bride’s mother

3. The bride’s 20 years older sister

4. The bride’s sister’s 13 year old daughter

5. The groom’s mother who openly hates the bride and has been trying to sabotage the wedding

I am not a bridesmaid but was invited by the bride, there are 13 people going and beds for 4 people, no wifi or service, it’s a 7 hour drive one way, the bride doesn’t know that the decor is raunchy as shit (I’m talking hats about never giving head again, pictures of the groom’s face on different naked men, bach stuff) and both the bride’s mom and groom’s mom are sober and very religious, there is enough alcohol being packed to drown a small city

To be fair, Mor was in this situation with Eris and Beron, and when Rhysand worked with them in ACOWAR without her consent or knowledge, she got upset - and tons of people hate her for it, and side with Rhys/Eris.

There are a lot of double standards w male sexual assault victims irl and in fandom but I don't think this is an example. People just love to villainize anyone hurt by their faves (in this case the fave being Aelin and in the case I mentioned, Rhys)

I totally get what you’re saying but I don’t think the situations are comparable here. People aren’t (at least from what I’ve seen🫠) mad at Mor for being angry or lashing out. It’s about the whole "Mor isn’t telling the truth" thing that SJM has Eris hinting at

Living in Alberta and moving to a city feels this way all the time, those rednecks you make fun of do insane mental math every planting season. They can do lifesaving medical care during calving season. They can fix a quad and a tractor and a truck in the middle of the bush. A lot of them believe in helping others whenever possible, in radical acceptance and leaning on community before hatred. When my aunt married her wife my grandpa put a pride flag on the back of his favourite sprayer. They’ve raised lawyers and doctors and vets, just because they don’t say their Rs the same doesn’t mean they’re stupid or bigoted.

Make fun of them all you want but their kids are muddy, smiling, and reading at adult levels.

I know at this point we are all regurgitating the same things in different fonts, but it's really interesting to me that Elain keeps getting pigeon-holed as introverted and quiet, when it's been expressed multiple times that she was NEVER like that before.

Elain was social and loved parties. She was gearing up for a life as human Lord's wife, and all the politics and social graces that life would afford her. She could influence people and make friends easily. She was kind and warm and open.

She is not that way right now. Who she has become has been filtered through the lens of her intense trauma that she has yet to begin to unpack and finding her mate during that time.

SO ON THE FLIPSIDE

Everyone in the fandom can agree, whole-heartedly, we miss our sassy, mouthy fox boy. Who loved to mingle with other courts, travel, make connections, etc. But we all also agree HE IS NOT THAT WAY RIGHT NOW. Who he has become has been filtered through the lens of his intense trauma and finding his mate while the only security he'd known for decades was crumbling under his feet.

Of course they are avoiding each other - they are also avoiding THEMSELVES. How are they supposed to get to know another person when they don't even recognize themselves right now?

And more than that... this isn't just the concept that "well, Az sees her at her lowest and want her" as much as "Az wants someone who ISN'T in her true form right now." AND THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE.

Characters do not begin their REAL arc already healed and ready. They start at their lowest point and grow from there. That's why SJM saying that Elain and Lucien have a lot of healing to do TOGETHER is SO important.

As our Power of Truth princess said, "She's not ready. And neither is he."

Elain Archeron is a victim of the straight polite soft girl being pushes into a hyper sexual dark shipping dynamic in which the imagery of them if often seen as violence and purity. I don't like it one bit.

i could write a whole essay upon this and how this stereotype for soft women is actually setting us drastically back and only harms our community.

We need to look at soft girls as humans just as much as the hardcore girls
