At a Dark Wizard’s wedding, rather than a ‘first dance’, the happy couple shares a ‘first duel’!
Bonus!
Husband in question:
I think we've been sleeping on how much Mila meant to Garak. His longing to go home is often portrayed as patriotism but his fantasy of returning home is living with Mila. He goes searching for Tain after Mila begs him to. He says all of his associates are dead even though she's alive because he doesn't want her killed. Tain threatens to kill Mila regularly to control Garak.
Wanting to return to Cardassia Garak's main wish. It's what makes his actions meaningful when he does things that go against that motivation. It adds another level of sacrifice when it's not just a place but a person he wants to return to.
Peter Hale Doesn’t Know How Buttons Work: A Dumbass Theory
Peter loves V necks- we all know this.
BUT.
What if the reason he likes V necks is not JUST because he loves showing off his impressive cleavage? What if he has to wear pull over t-shirts because he forgot how buttons work?
THE EVIDENCE:
Exhibit A- three buttons available. No buttons buttoned.
Exhibit B- once again, three buttons available, but this time, the bottom one is done up! Does this nullify my theory? NAY. It probably came from the store that way, and Peter carefully keeps it from coming unbuttoned so that he may investigate the technique with which it was buttoned.
Exhibit C- this might actually be the same shirt from the first picture but I’m including it anyway. How much time do u guys think it took to edit in glowing eyes for every episode? I feel like it was probably an intern’s job.
Exhibit D- lovely light jacket, completely unbuttoned. Your tummy is gonna get cold dude. Cora will have no sympathy for you. Just ask for help my man.
“BUT WAIT,” you’re thinking. “TWOTHUMBS IS AN IDIOT,” you’re also thinking, correctly. “PETER WORE A RED BUTTON DOWN SHIRT WHEN HE ATTACKED LYDIA AND MADE WEIRD SEXUAL INNUENDO AT STILES IN THE GARAGE.”
Exhibit E- true, but may I submit to the jury that his NURSE BUTTONED IT FOR HIM, and when she got too close to his throat he killed her. Look at how far down it’s unbuttoned. You were doing that anyway, but look again without thinking about werewolf pecs. Here’s another, shittier angle
You think he’s gonna let his awful nurse anywhere near his throat?? No sir. He’s going to let her help him out with the buttons, and then he’s going to snippety snap her neck before she can get too close to his.
I actually have no idea if he killed her by breaking her neck, I’ve never watched the show ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But my theory stands: Peter Hale lost the building block skill of doing up buttons during his coma, and didn’t regain the knowledge with his resurrection.

You know what I think t'hy'la means?
It's not an ambiguous term, like it could mean three different things. But I also don't think it always means all three. I think it's a singular concept that we don't use on Earth, but maybe we should.
You know how some people's number one person is their spouse, while other people, married or not, have a best friend who's the one they really tell everything to? You know how you might have a queerplatonic relationship but whether or not you have sex with them is just ...not an important question?
I think t'hy'la means your number one person. And humans don't have a word that says most important without distinguishing whether we're blood-related or whether we're having sex.
Vulcans do. So I don't especially like the idea that all t'hy'la pairs have to be lovers in a sexual sense. It's not that at all. It's that they have this deep bond that transcends everything. You could have that with your brother. You could have it with your friend. Or if you're attracted to that person, you would probably be lovers.
Kirk and Spock love each other deeply; everyone who knows them knows that. The word they use for each other doesn't say whether they're having sex because Vulcans don't care about that. Humans are all "weird, the dictionary definition won't tell me whether they're boning, which is information I'm used to having publicly announced!" Well, too bad. Vulcans have arranged marriages usually, and some of them have sex once every seven years. So I just don't think sex is the defining point that makes a relationship serious to them.
If a Vulcan says "this is my t'hy'la" that lets everyone know they are bonded in the deepest level of the katra and any arranged spouses or temporary pon farr surrogates they might have don't even rank, by comparison. That's uncomfortable to humans.
Now Kirk and Spock are definitely having sex, but Spock doesn't consider that to be the fact that makes their relationship serious and primary over all others. So that's why he chooses a word that is about the soul bond, not the flesh.
This has always been 100% my take. Exactly.
A cultural difference here, not an inexact term. Very possibly uncommon, but understood on Vulcan without explanation.
We humans have a vastly different take on sex than Vulcans do. We must have, no matter how you move the goalposts on their sexuality. So why would the most profound bond a Vulcan could have necessarily include that?
Right—Vulcans are, above all else, alien. A dictionary does you no good when their actual concepts are different, the way they handle their relationships.
Kirk is better at chess than Spock
You are correct and you should say it.
Spock is a logical thinker and that helps, but Kirk is an expert tactition and understands people. He's playing head games the whole time and if there's one thing Spock doesn't know how to navigate, it's head games.
Throughout their relationship, we see two brilliant people finally being challenged for the first time by someone more brilliant than them (in some areas). And they both love it, because gosh it's boring to be the smartest person in the room.
"As you wish."

remember that time that spock said “this is about sex” but he couldn’t say sex so instead he said “biology” and kirk clearly knew what he meant but was awkwardly like “what kind of biology” and spock got this look on his face like ‘oh lordy i’m not dealing with this today’ and said “vulcan biology” and kirk can’t say the word sex either so he goes “u mean the biology of vulcans” and then they stood there in silence for ten seconds like a pair of fucking idiots
my brother (a very “men can’t show each other any affection without someone calling it gay, can’t men just be friends anymore?” type of dude) has been watching TOS with me
it has taken him less than a season to realize that Kirk and Spock are, in fact, just in love with each other
new headcanon formed by my brother
Kirks shirts are always ripped because Spock hacks his replicators to produce weaker shirts
my star trek tos hot take is that scotty and uhura ending up together in the movies was definitely not a situation of "pair the spare" and in fact a natural evolution of how they often had scenes together. in terms of screentime, kirk/spock/bones are a trio, sulu/chekov are a pair and... so are scotty/uhura! in metamorphosis, it's uhura acting as second in command to scotty (who adorably stands by the captain's chair despite having every right to sit down in it), in the city at the edge of forever, it's those two who are stranded in an altered future (and maybe they held hands off-screen) with the guardian... and most importantly, i like think uhura started to like scotty in a taste of armageddon when he valiantly stands up to the ambassador right in front of her and she's staring up at him, impressed. uhura uses her engineering skill in this side of paradise to break the comms, and spock relies on her for engineering despite her protests. imagine them talking about engineering, editing the universal translator, playing music together - they're both musicians! and they look damn good together in matching red! like seriously, it's the only het ship in tos that actually has a grounded basis for being a requited and real relationship. and yet the valid canon scotty/uhura is ignored by nutrek and fandom..... it's genuinely wild how much of tos is completely different to its reputation
Okay, so I watching Book of the Atlantic and noticed this during Undertaker's monologue about how he makes the bizarre dolls work by splicing cinematic records. His example record was originally a silhouette of a woman who we saw go through her life and die with a man at her bed side. Then, for the actual record clipping when he talked about his inspiration, we get this:
A blonde woman on a cliff side, who we can assumed jumped off of it. But that's not quite right, is it? A body would be hard to recover that way, if a body were found, it would be waterlogged, decaying, and scavenged, and we know suicide deaths go to the shiginami dispatch. This is Undertaker's *inspiration*, not just any example.
And who do we know is in everything Undertaker does? The Phantomhives. I think the woman in the clip is Claudia. She's blonde (or anime blonde, like Francis) and we know Undertaker had a connection to her due to his mourning locket.
He also states he "retired" "half a decade ago" while Othello states it had been 70 years. This is where the timeline gets a bit shakier; that 20 years makes a big difference on how old Claudia would have been which leads to my new theories:
Claudia was his daughter, and she is why he walked away from the shiginami dispatch. That's why he's obsessed with the Phantomhives, it's *his* bloodline and that is also why Ciel can see reapers.
They were lovers, as is the current prevailing theory, both which leads to....
she died young. We don't really know how she died, and if she is the woman in the example record, it was likely suicide. She knew about Undertaker and the reapers, probably knew their inner workings (and how they're made) and possibly wanted to join him for eternity. This however clearly didn't go to plan, either because
Reapers check the cinematic records of new hires and would have seen her relationship to Undertaker and intervened, separating them permantly and making Undertaker even more driven to ensure he never loses another Phantomhive again
They completely pave over who the person was in their past life. Sasha had talked about being miserable and now this second chance is a new drive, but something about the way the concept was explained leaves a gap. How do you get someone who cares about nothing to care about paperwork and souls and orderly balance? Maybe they hand select for personality, but I think they strip away parts of who someone was and reprogram for the job, to some extent. What if they did the same for Claudia, so she either has no memory of her former life or has no desire to reconnect with Undertaker?
Did he manage to salvage what he could and continue her record? If she were the first, I doubt it would have went well. The bizarre dolls on the ship (aside from Real!Ciel) were very primitive, lacking eyes and only acting on instinct. Riel was one of a kind, and we quickly saw how fast his skill excelled, but their lives were decades apart. Claudia's doll would not have been as advanved. In the outro, we see a doll being puppeted until it no longer can be and collapses with a grim reaper hanging in the background controlling it. If the example record *is* Claudia, it also lends to suggest what happened if Undertaker had continued her cinematic record.

I've seen this before, but it's been years and it just came across my Twitter in its dying days. The words are from a favorite author of mine, Maggie Stiefvater, and they are the words I most need to hear when it comes to dealing with chronic pain and illness. I didn't need this the first time I saw it, six years ago. I need it now. Maybe you do, too.
When we’re new to adulthood, it doesn’t immediately occur to all of us that you’re almost always allowed to leave a situation, because growing up we’re forced to stay in situations until someone dismisses us and/or takes us home, or if we do leave on our own accord there’s someone waiting at home to say “we don’t quit in this family!” Boring party? You can leave. You don’t like the lecture? You can walk out. New doctor not working out? You can end the appointment, you don’t need to wait for them to dismiss you. Bad date? You can just go home. Leaving a situation prematurely might have consequences, but unless you’re under arrest or serving prison time, it’s pretty much always allowed.

A while back, I called for a Lyft ride home from the airport. The lyft pulled up, he called my name, and I opened the door and climbed in. While I was climbing in he was getting out, which I didn’t realize until he opened the back door on the other side.
Him: I’ll put your bag in the trunk. Me: Oh, there’s no need. Him: I’ll just put it back there. Me: I prefer to keep my bag with me.
I was also still holding onto it so he couldn’t just grab it, and when I said “I prefer to keep it with me” this cloud of rage crossed his face.
Him: Then get out. Me: Excuse me? Him: Get out, I don’t want your bag fucking up my upholstery.
Now, this was a weekender – essentially an upscale duffle bag. Small, almost brand new, easily fitting on the middle-seat beside me. I don’t know if he was just really intense about his upholstery or if he was running some kind of scam, but either way I now DEFINITELY was not going to let him separate me from my bag.
So I said “Okay,” and I picked up my bag and got out, took out my phone, and cancelled him as my driver.
He looked at me like I’d grown a second head. There was this moment of total disconnect in his face, and then he started ranting about how someone had damaged his upholstery and they needed to put their bags in the back and he wasn’t going to have me getting his upholstery dirty.
I said, “I’m out of your car. Drive on, I’ll get another,” and held up my phone.
This had clearly never happened before – it looked like plenty of people had thought “This guy is crazy” but went the “so I’d better let him do what he wants” route instead of “so I’m getting out of his car”. Which is totally normal! We’re socialized to prioritize “not making a scene” over personal safety. But when you do call that bluff, when you defy the social convention that the other person is counting on to make you do what they want you to do, they don’t know how to react, which gives you time for a clean getaway. And maybe he thought I was a dickhead but what do I care what an asshole thinks of me?
Anyway the moral of the story is yes, you should know that you can almost always leave a situation and often it’s in your best interest to do so.
(Right after I called for another car he picked up a fare using Quick Match or whatever it’s called, peeled out of the Lyft lane, and hit another car well nigh immediately.)
[ID: The Benefits of walking away. (Illustration of the back of a person walking away. ) 1. Makes bad things disappear quickly. 2. Gives everyone optimal view of your back. 3. Answers question, “I wonder what would happen if I just walked away”]

I’m tempted to say, “Not all heroes wear capes,” but I get the impression this Fine Fellow probably owns more than one.
