If you make Eowyn transfem, the "I am no man" scene takes an entirely new meaning.
Headcanon:
Faramir is the only person in the entire Middle Earth who can eat Eowyn’s cooking
Like. He doesn’t just survive it.
He enjoys it.
(Mostly because he’s used to shitty food as a ranger but let’s call it love)
lets have a moment to talk about our lord and savior éowyn with mama
For Farawyn and the couples asks!
👀 Who gets jealous more easily & how obvious are they about it?
🧩 What tiny habit of the other do they find unbearably adorable?
👀who gets jealous & how obvious are they?
It’s Éowyn. But it’s really only an issue for her early in her relationship with Faramir, when she still feels somewhat insecure in how she is perceived as a “wild shieldmaiden of the North” with a prince of Gondor. She worries, in those moments, that Faramir might change his mind, that she might be too much for him. After all, she feels her emotions strongly, she has a temper, she is firey. When she lets the magnitude of her feelings show, she wonders if her usually calm, self-mastered husband might look down on her and wish for a more gentle and biddable Gondorian bride. And it doesn’t help that some snickering Gondorians whisper just that: look at that ungentle shieldmaiden, that wild horsewoman of the North- what does the Lord Faramir see in her?
And so, in the early days of their relationship, when a beautiful courtier from Minas Tirith chats pleasantly with Faramir, or when a visiting lady from Lossarnach makes eyes at him, Éowyn feels insecure and gets jealous. She isn’t great at hiding it, she grows quiet and becomes a little snappy and makes barbed comments about the person in question. Faramir sees through it rather easily.
However, this dynamic is short lived. In her relationship with Faramir, Éowyn grows much more confident and secure in how she is perceived in Gondor, and in the fact that Faramir sees and loves all parts of her. Once she grows in that confidence, there’s very little room for jealous feelings to grow.
🧩what tiny habit do they do that the other finds adorable?
Faramir loves it when Éowyn gets unabashedly excited about something— that sort of child-like excitement and enthusiasm and delight. It makes him really happy to see her completely let her guard down and give in to joy. He notices this happens almost frequently around specific things like: horses, seeing lightning and/or shooting stars, having the opportunity to swim, custard (more on this in my upcoming fic chapter), and (after she trains as a healer) being able to find and identify certain rare herbs and plants.
Éowyn finds it adorable to watch Faramir interact with animals. He talks to them in a gentle voice as if they can understand him; he even has full on conversations with birds or with barn cats or rabbits in the meadow, which delights Éowyn to no end.
I like to think that Glorfindel knew that Eowin would would kill the Witch King, but just phrased the prophecy vaguely in order to fuck with the Witch King of Angmar
Éowyn didn’t give up her sword to become a healer or Faramir’s wife; she expanded and learned to take pride in additional things beyond war and glory. But Ithilien in the nascent fourth age still needs its princess-shieldmaiden, for there is brave work to be done, and healing a war-raveged land cannot be done with herbs alone.
Moreover, “healed” Éowyn is not some fundamentally different character who quenches her fire and suppresses her will. She is the same as she always was, and she becomes even more herself because she is not trammeled by expectation.
painted this little study of miranda otto serving cunt as eowyn behind the scenes of lotr. have not been feeling super motivated/in the flow with art making lately but this was a lot of fun to do. perhaps digital studies of beautiful women will be the key to getting my grove back?? we shall see.

Calling Eowyn’s slow living era as “anti-feminist” is appalling when you consider that she was depressed—and that her willingness to die in battle was driven, not only by the desire to become more than what gender roles prescribe for her, but also by suicidal ideation
A woman is thriving and believing in the future again, and learning to live in ways she has never done before, and you call that anti-feminist. Because she is now married and into gardening. Make that make sense.
(But yes this is the problem with the Peter Jackson adaptations) (A female character doesn’t have to carry a sword to be strong and meaningful ffs) (Arwen making a radical choice about her body against the expectation of her society is enough to make her a badass)
There are moments when Eowyn feels like wearing a man’s clothing, even when the days are now peaceful and she is known more often as Lady of Ithilien—instead of simply herself.
On days like this, she wakes up early and takes longer time to dress. She braids her hair and ties them in a neat bun. Then, she carefully wraps linen around her chest to keep them hidden—for both protection and comfort. To help her feel more herself.
Whenever she does this routine, her husband would watch in silence, observing her every move. Then, whenever it is time to tie up her binder, he would get up and help her with it (“Is this comfortable enough?” / “Wait, it’s a bit tight in here, hold on.”).
Once they are done, he would land a small kiss on her shoulder, to remind her that no matter which form—and name—she chooses, his feelings for her will never change.
Eowyn, reading a recipe: Beat three eggs?
Eomer: It means like in hand-to-hand combat.
Eowyn: Ohhhh-
Theodred: Both of you get out of this kitchen.

babe wake up...i need to tell you multiple thoughts that don't corelate at all that i had in the span of five minutes..
I miss when library books used to have little paper pockets inside with a list of all the people who borrowed it and when... I hate that this is now exclusive knowledge of librarians. I do care that a miss Mariana borrowed this book in 1985 and then Dario in 1997. They're my brothers and sisters
