This is only my second post but honestly I'm getting the hang of this. Another humans are space orcs thing because I fancy it.
Since there's so many species on the big galactic ship, what if humans just so happened to stand out like a red ball in a green courtyard?
The concept isn't new, but seriously? Out of the 47 (seems like a small number, but realistically would there be that many on one ship? This isn't Noah's ark.) species on this ship, humans, hairless and lanky humans, stand out. Humans, who only share a few things with the other species. And most of those are things like "can see". So when they first get introduced, everyone pulls away in slight discomfort and a deep sense that the humans don't belong here.
We didn't do anything..particularly..it's just, how can you look at a species that loves overusing the panic response, and be all "Yeah, this guy's family!" Of course not.
Why on earth would we look so strange? For some reason everyone depicts aliens as being reptiles, slimey creatures, crystal behemoths, etc. So when humans, hairless and lanky humans walks in, we're put on a pedestal. And let's be real that pedestal is negative, but I digress. And yes I'm ranting, it's 2 in the morning and I have sludge for brains right now.
Why on earth that when the aliens find out that human Jess is actually autistic, they question if any of their kind have that kind of brain science too but just never addressed it. Or that human Brian eats plants that have a specific substance in them that when eaten cause the tongue to feel like it's on fire, and CONTINUES to eat said plant.
Alien: hey human Brian! Oh- are you okay? Why does that salsa make your nose sniffle and your eyes water? Are you allergic!? Do we need a medic!??-
Brian: no- skib, calm down, it's just the peppers I put in it.
Alien: ..you mean the peppers that cause that fire-like reaction to mammals to ward them away? You PURPOSEFULLY put that in your food!??
Human: .. uh..yeah? It burns but like, in a good way!
Alien: ..your species are suicidal, human Brian!
And now the jokester aliens don't ever try to steal the human food because.. what if it has the feisty plant?
