Zhongli was tired.

He didn’t know what to do; he was just so tired of loosing everyone that he cared for.

He was tired of opening up and being vulnerable over and over again. He was tired of caring, he was tired of feeling like it was his fault. He was tired of blaming himself, he was tired of putting up his walls again, he was tired of feeling like a wreck all the time.

He was tired of loving.

So he tried to not let anyone get to him; he tried to put up walls again even though he was sick of doing it over and over again. He tried to distance himself from emotions. He tried, he tried, he tried so hard to not fall in love again.

Love. Such a funny word. He grew to hate it.

He thought that after being alive for so long he would be able to numb himself and he was doing a great job at it until you came along.

You with your smiles and your stories. You with your sparkling eyes and your encouraging words. You with your hands holding his face when he broke down because he remembered he wasn’t there to save his lover last time. You with your patience and not taking it to heart when he disappeared for a couple of days because his feeling for you were getting too much. You didn’t hold it against him, even when he told you that you should part ways. You just smiled even though he saw you were hurt.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t love you the way you deserved.”

He knew he couldn’t. He was to stuck in the past, in the what if’s, in his memories and reminders that he didn’t save them. They always died, they always died, and it was his fault, his fault, his fault, his fault. He still loved them. He still loved every single one of his past lovers, never being able to get rid of the feelings. He never loved anyone fully, not really. How could he? He never moved on.

But he still heard your cries that night. He found you, after wandering in the rain for hours, with too many wounds in your body for him to save you. He found you, your body limp and almost dead. And even though you should’ve hated him, you didn’t.

“Zhongli?” you asked, your voice unsure. As if it was a dream.

He couldn’t speak. It hurt so bad. It hurt so bad, it hurt so bad, it hurt so bad, it hurt so bad. It was his fault. You could barely open your eyes and when you saw him you smiled.

Why didn’t you hate him? He left you, all alone, just because he couldn’t deal with his feelings. Why didn’t you curse him? Why did you apologize? He should be the one doing that. But no words would come out, his hands holding your weak body close to him and his eyes terrified of the view in front of him.

He still remembers your hair wet from the rain and blood dripping from your mouth and wounds, staining his clothes. He didn’t care.

You didn’t say anything else. You stopped breathing and he sweared something in him died that night. The same way it did every time they died.

The cold, frigid are in the hideout was awful. The hideout was cold enough and the fact that it's snowing outside made it so much worse. The windows were iced over and every doorknob was freezing.

Your left hand curls up closer to your chest in desperation for warmth. You lie wide awake as you look at the book in your hand. You'd found it a few days ago and decided to give it a read to take your mind off of things. Your eyes were half shut, but you continued to force them to stay open. The book was getting pretty good. You wanted to finish this chapter and then go to bed. Glancing at the watch you have beside your bed, you see that it's 3:00 A.M.. You've been up for almost 24 hours. You need to sleep, but you're not going to bed without finishing this chapter no matter what.

You turn the page just as the plot twist is about to reveal itself, and you hear a knock on your door. You sigh in frustration. Who else is up at this hour other than Shigaraki? Besides, what'd he want with you anyway?

You get up and walk to the door and reach out to put your hand on the knob as more knocking comes.

"Dude, chill. I'm literally right here," you say, trying to sound as irritated as possible in hopes they'd go away.

"Don't even think about popping an attitude with me," you hear a deep voice come from the other side of the door, "now open up."

You open your room door to see your boyfriend, Dabi, standing there. His arms are crossed and he's looking you dead in the eyes. What did he want?

"What is it, Dabi? I'm busy right now," you look right back at him. You purse your lips, cross your arms, and lean back on your right leg.

"Why are you still up?"

"Why do you care? Y'know I could be asking you the same question," you spat. You just wanted to finish that chapter.

"What did I say? Why are you trying to catch an attitude? What is your deal?" He sternly looks you in the eyes. Oh, boy. You're in for it now.

"I just wanna finish this chapter, Dabi. Leave me alone and let me finish. I'll go to sleep then."

"And just how many pages do you like?"

You stop in your tracks. You realize you'd just started the chapter. You're only on the 2nd page of it. You've got another 18 to go.

"Well?" Dabi looks at the book on your bed and back to you. You groan and give up.

"Fine! I'll finish it tomorrow! You win!" You throw your hands up in defeat. You look in his turquoise eyes as he smirks. He let's out a chuckle and moves towards you and wraps you up in his arms.

"God, you're freezing," you lean into him as he says this. You can feel the vibration of his words in his chest. You bury your face there and nod your head. Being in your boyfriend's arms starts to warm you up. You try to bury yourself further into him for warmth.

"Is my baby cold? Hm?" Dabi looked down at you. His right hand cradled the back of your head and he gently massaged your scalp with his fingertips. You nod into his chest.

Before you know it, Dabi's picked you up and has carried you to your bed and has you wrapped up under the covers. He walked over to the light switch and turned off the lights. He came back afterwards and got under the mountain of blankets with you. He laughed as you immediately clung on to his side. His arms wrap themselves around out and pull you on top of his chest. Dabi rubbed the your back and the back of your head.

"You need to sleep, baby," he leans down to you and kisses your forehead. You both love domestic moments like this. You don't get them often, so when you do you mutually want it to last forever.

Your eyes start to grow heavier and heavier. The warmth from him and the blankets felt amazing. Dabi gave another kiss to your forehead. A little smile displays itself on your lips and you nuzzled into his chest. Dabi started humming while running his fingers through your hair. You closed your eyes. The sound of Dabi's heartbeat, breathing, and humming lulled you into a deep sleep.

"I love you, baby," Dabi said as he planted a soft kiss to your forehead as he fell asleep with you wrapped up in arms.

He is so unbelievably sweet even though he can have a difficult time expressing his emotions

Him being your first boyfriend was a surprise to most of the members of the team but Tendou was the only one who actually vocalized his surprise

Since Ushi is a bit,,, unexpressive, you tend to have trouble knowing where his head’s at and how he really feels about you

Which sometimes can lead you to being a bit self conscious since you begin worrying about if he really likes you and if you’re doing anything wrong

Semi and Shirabu catch on so quick whenever that happens and Semi will reassure you that he does care about you and seems happier now that you two are together

You both are also so damn clueless when it comes to dating so you have no idea what to do when you hangout (if you hangout—) or where to go when you plan a date

It got so bad Tendou and Goshiki literally had to plan a date for you two at one point and be like “thiS IS WHAT YOU’RE DOING HAVE FUN :D”

Spoiler it was the best date you went on and you could tell it was Goshiki’s idea because Tendou’s was doing something really dumb lmao

The longer you two have dated, he actually ends up being more expressive and holy shit he is actually really funny
