My name is Areus (@areus-in-a-little-cave) and since there are many fanfictions in this community, I have decided to make a Dream SMP + MCYT fanfiction recommendation blog!
These fics will, for the most part, not be RPF simply because I have not read many RPF fics. Any RPF fics that are posted here will not violate creator boundaries. No fics on this account in general will violate boundaries.
This blog is open for recommendations if there is a fic you would like recommended (this can include your own!). You can also request a recommendation and I will do my best to find a fic that meets what you asked for.

There is a major chance I will not follow my own tagging system so beware!
Anything tagged Not Rec will not be a fic recommendation. Anything tagged Not Read will be a fic I have not read. Anything tagged Fic Rec Reblog will be a reblog of a fic rec list or something similar.
Tags will include:
Oneshot/Multi-Chapter, Finished/Ongoing, Word count, TWs and CWs, Characters, POV/centric characters, RPF/Not RPF, Author name, Fic title, and AU type (canon-divergent au, modern au, sci-fi au).Â
There will also be important fic tags such as character dynamics (character is character’s parent, twins character and character, names of dynamics/groups etc.), general character tags (winged character, god character, warden character), and general fic tags (Found family, Three life system/Respawn system, Angst, Fluff, Character death, etc.).
For sorting through tags:
Oneshot/Twoshot/Multi-Chapter - Whether linked fic is only one chapter/two chapters long or has more.
Finished/Ongoing - Whether linked fic is completed or ongoing.
Word count - A range of how many words the fic is/currently is. (Less than 10k words, 10k - 30k words, 30k to 65k words, 65k words to 95k words, 95k words to 130k words, more than 130k words, more than 175k words, excessive word count)
TWs and CWs - Fic linked will include content that can be triggering/disturbing to some readers. TW and CW tags are to help you avoid said fics.
Characters - Mentioned character is either a main or secondary character in linked fic.
Character-centric - Mentioned character is/is one of the central POV characters in linked fic.
RPF/Not RPF - Whether linked fic is written as RPF or about the creators’ characters.
Author name - Mentioned author wrote/co-wrote linked fic.
Fic title - Title of linked fanfiction.
AU type - Fic linked takes place in an alternate universe that is seperate from canon in some way. Specific types of divergences will be listed.
When recommending:
Include any TWs and CWs, a link to the fic, the name of the author and title of the fic, and any important information you think might need to be included. This is just to help me as I may not have read the fic myself.
Things not allowed:
Anything that violates creator boundaries, anything explicitly NSFW, and generally problematic material that doesn’t fit into either of the previous listed categories.

As some of you might've noticed, this blog has been almost entirely inactive for the past six months. This is mainly due to the facts that previous mods have become less active in the mcyt fandom. That's why we're looking for someone to (completely) take over this blog! Meaning all previous mods will completely inactive.

Summary:
Six years.
In his long life, six years should not have mattered for Technoblade. He's old enough to have known the world before the Antarctic Empire, he's old enough to have come to this town before it was even a town, six years should have felt like barely more than a month.
It's what he tells himself, anyway, when it gets a little too much. Barely a blink in his life, no time at all, six years is fine.
Six years is the amount of time Philza has been missing for.
It's been hard, he isn't going to lie about it, he's been having a hard time when everyone around him has stopped looking, but he's still searching.
Because his friend can't be killed. Because he knows his secret, and he will never share it with the world, but much like Technoblade cannot be slain, Philza cannot stay dead.
It's not as reassuring as it should have been.

Then Technoblade met a necromancer named Dream, who dragged the both of them to therapy and taught them about the magic of friendship along the way. Oh, and some actual magic too.

The Next Great Adventure by Pathfinder - 114k words, Fantasy AU, Graphic depictions of violence
Philza is closed-off, hardened from centuries without aging while watching his friends turn to dust, taking jobs under the moniker Angel of Death to try and feel something again.
Technoblade is a brute of a piglin with more scars than unbroken skin and a penchant for uncovering trouble, hot on the trail of… something. He’s exactly the sort of routine job that should consume a few weeks of Phil’s endless time, before he’s forced to find something else to waste away doing.
(Such a shame, then, that the Angel of Death should meet his match.)
Or: A fanfiction in which an elaborate AU is crafted as an excuse to focus entirely on Technoblade and Philza's relationship.

AND THEN YOU FELL IN LOVE? - written by @doodlebloo. DSMP canon-compliant story following Tubbo and Ranboo's journey from marrying for tax benefits to now-- loving husbands with an adopted son. It has such an accurate characterization of c!Beeduo, I keep forgetting this isn't canon. (in progress)
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW THE SKY? - written by AreusWritesFanfic. DSMP canon-divergent Tubbo-centric story set in Manberg, in which the god of death Philza is locked in Pandora's vault. Philza escapes, and Tubbo accidentally starts a war between Manberg and the hidden nation of Pogtopia. (in progress)
TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOU - written by @belovedgamers. Canon-compliant pre-DSMP oneshot about Foolish and Eret, back when they were partners in crime (more like partners in war) as the powerful wither and Totem of Death. One day, they are caught, and Eret is forced to make a choice she never wanted to make. (completed)
JUST DOWN THE PRIME PATH - written by @tubboxed. DSMP canon-divergent Tommy and Eret-centric fic, with eventual queerplatonic Eternalduo (Foolish + Eret). For a change of scenery and to hopefully heal, Tommy moves into the Eret's castle at Puffy's suggestion. As Tommy gets to breathe and hesitantly relax, the events of the SMP continue on—including that banquet coming up soon. (in progress)
STANDING AT A LIGHTSWITCH - written by @deadpatrol. Canon-compliant Tubbo-centric fic set after the Dream SMP server gets reset. All the characters’ memories are wiped as they get reincarnated into the modern world-- all except for Tubbo, who remembers everything. He sets out to reunite everyone he cares about, though there's the problem that nobody remembers him. (completed)

FOUR OF A KIND - written by @thunderbottle. SBI multiverse AU featuring Mumza, chat the eldritch gods, and cameos from supporting characters of the DSMP ensemble. Fate tries to force Tommy, Wilbur, Philza, and Techno into a found family, but it's not as easy as that. There’s a lot of beautiful worldbuilding as well! (in progress)
LIONHEARTS - written by FreedomFlier. DSMP fantasy AU in which Skeppy embarks on a quest to save his friend Bad, who had just been kidnapped, and they get stuck in the crossfire of a war between the End and Nether kingdoms. There's a lot of magic and very strong character dynamics! Skephalo +Dream Team centric, though the whole DSMP ensemble has prominent roles. (in progress)
MY MIRROR, MY SWORD, MY SHIELD - written by bunterasu. Bee duo and SBI royalty/fantasy AU from Prince Tubbo's perspective. Tubbo and a strange hybrid named Ranboo start a quest to fulfill a prophecy in which they free the four lost kings, who are the only ones who can save Tubbo's kingdom. (in progress)
HOW WINGS ARE REALLY NOT THAT GREAT IN RETROSPECT - written by @galient0. A Tubbo-centric SBI winged AU, where Tubbo- who supposedly was a human- finds out 1) he has wings, and 2) that this is what family feels like. (completed)

THE HAUNTING OF MOMENTO MANOR - written by @b1rdza. SBI + Tubbo family, ghost hunter/paranormal AU. On Halloween, brothers Tommy, Tubbo, and Wilbur decide to investigate the haunted manor in town. They didn't expect to find anything, but they find out that they are very, very wrong. (completed)

Have you ever wished to read some /r beeduo, but fear what the Ranboo/Tubbo tag on ao3 holds? Have you ever wished you could somehow magically filter the tag, so you'd see only the character works, with no explicit content in sight? Well, lucky reader, I might just have what you were searching for all along.
I went through the entire goddamn tag, and I manually filtered out all the sfw c! fics so you don't have to. And then I compiled everything into a spreadsheet. That's right, I am just that incredibly cool and sexy and amazing.
Things I tagged each fic with: word count, completion, angst/fluff, au/dsmp canon, "Do they kiss?"*, pet names** and additional notes if I felt anything else was worth mentioning (and there are also stars for fics that we especially liked)
*Only if Ranboo and Tubbo kissed explicitly on the lips, didn't count forehead/cheek/hand kisses or anything else of the sort
**Didn't count Boo, 'Bo and Beloved, since those are extremely common in the canon.
This took me and my discord pals many many hours, so I would be extremely grateful if you shared this as much as you could!! ♥
For what is and isn't on the list, as well as a disclaimer, keep reading.
What may be included on the list:
works by authors that also occasionally write RPF (I try to let you know of this in additional notes so you can avoid them if you wish! Check disclaimer for more info about this particular topic tho.)
violence, gore, there's also some cannibalism I think. I didn't tag any CW, but there are reminders to check the warning whenever I felt the fic warranted that.
What isn't on the list:
fics centered around sexual content and or involving explicit sexual content (past or present) (there is one about pregnancy, I noted so in the additional tags) (I also cut instances where the characters were making out...heavily.)
fics about CCs or works that were too ambiguous to be able to make a clear distinction between c! or cc!
works from authors that otherwise extremely frequently write RPF nsfw
unfinished works that were +- below 3K and seemed abandoned or just not properly built out yet (though I did this step very subjectively)
as I went on, I also started cutting out fics that didn't seem to have beeduo as their main focus, or if there were so many relationship tags I felt like you could find them from there as well (<- read as: I got frustrated and left out a lot of SBI centric fics)
shipping fics that included relationships not canon to the DSMP (for example, I cut out TNTduo but kept Puffychu. There's also some light background DNF in some of them I'm pretty sure, though I literally do not think there exists a fic involving both Dream and George without it being DNF, so hey, that's my reasoning. But if you want me to cut those ones out as well, let me know).
Disclaimer: I hadn't actually read all of the fics. Unfortunately, I am not the deity of free time. I've tried to skim almost every single one to find out whether or not it truly is sfw and about c! (but only if it wasn't made abundantly clear by the tags or author's notes, or if I got general weird vibes), and tried to add any warnings and additional notes I could come up with when there were some.
I also hadn't checked each author and whether or not they had written RPF in the past - again, I simply don't have the means for that (and also because most of them are anon or orphaned anyway), though I DID check some, and anything iffy I found about the author I included into additional notes.
I tried to sort everything to the best of my abilities, but I am only human - which is to say, if you DO find some fic that you thing doesn't belong there PLEASE dm me and I'll look into it! We are a community, helping each other is the key 🧡
If you are the author of any of the fics on the list and for some reason want them taken out, dm me and I'll delete them!

Tubbo screamed the words that became his goodbye. He can’t accept that Tommy is gone, because that would be accepting that the last words they exchanged were angry and intended to hurt. So he doesn’t accept it. He’ll search for years if he has to.
Techno let Tommy leave without so much as trying to stop him. He’s replayed the memory of that night and wished he’d done anything else, until he thinks the guilt might be enough to destroy him. He thinks he might already be on his way there.
And Quackity can’t help but feel like this is all just a bitter echo. This town is cursed, and Tommy is only its latest victim.

Summary:
After a minute or so of this person staring at the medicine while Tubbo stared at them, he starts to get a bit bored. So, he clears his throat, and says in a conversational voice, “They sell pretty damn good Tylenol here, don’t they?”
They jump, clearly taken aback by Tubbo’s appearance. They blink at him once before nodding slowly, clearing their throat.
“Isn’t, uh, most Tylenol the- the same everywhere?”

Tubbo is an accidental part of a kind-of family, worn tennis shoes firmly planted on the sidelines as a ticking time clock mocks the day his stolen life will crumble, shoved under the floorboards of his best friend's attic. In the waiting process, he meets a seventeen year old severely lacking in both memory and effective hair dye, who defines himself as the spaces between notebook pages and part-time jobs.
Like this, Tubbo meets Ranboo, who, despite everything, may be Tubbo's most worthwhile pit stop in his journey to survival yet.

Tommy bit the inside of his cheek. “If you were solely in charge of imprisoning the most dangerous man in the country, what would you do?”
Sam’s smile slid off of his face, and his brows scrunched up in concentration. “That’s a hard one,” he admitted. “I’d probably do everything within my power to make sure he didn’t escape. If he’s the most dangerous.”
“Yeah,” Tommy said hollowly. “I guess you would.”
 Or, after Dream kills Tommy after he escapes prison, Tommy finds himself in a modern universe, fostered by sbi.

Summary:
Techno was adopted by Phil when he was 12 years old.
He'd been enjoying his morning before Phil came to him asking if he would mind them taking in another kid. Against his better judgement, Techno agrees and ends up with two new foster brothers who he was determined to not get attached to, no matter what.

For the Dream SMP, I highly suggest "Passerine" by thcscus (https://archiveofourown.org/works/28755084/chapters/70509990). It is not only one of the highest rated fics in the fandom, known by nearly every fan, but it is one of the fics with the highest amount of hits on AO3. The story is beautiful, with prose that creates such an intrinsically engaging world and allows the characters to flow from the author to the audience perfectly. Not only would I suggest it to anyone in the fandom, I would and have recommened it to people outside the fandom. It functions so well with and without the original context of the media it is based off of. Without spoiling much, I can confidently say that this fic could easily be canon to the original story of the SMP. It holds a special place in my heart and is one of the few pieces of written media that has almost brought me to tears.
A second fanfic for the Dream SMP fandom would have to be "that's, like, a hundred miles" by No_one_you_know (https://archiveofourown.org/works/28401570/chapters/69592806). Rarely have I found media with such beautiful representation of brotherly relationships and estrangement, and this fic knocks it right out of the park. It's not too long and excellently paced, with characters that have stuck with me long since I read it and the prequel oneshot and sequel fic. It's a genius retelling of the original story in a modern setting with just enough angst to tug at your heart strings and make you want to read it over and over again. Once again, I can that it is a must read and I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for something to read, whether you're in the fandom or not.
Thirdly, once more of the Dream SMP, I suggest "Breathing's Just a Rhythm" by MollyPollyKinz (https://archiveofourown.org/works/28468215/chapters/80882578). One of the first fics I ever read in this fandom, it holds a very special place in my heart. There's not much I can say expect that the entire story was not only incredibly captivating, but the ending feels earned. The amount of characters and plotlines present are all wrapped up perfectly, and it fits so well into the source media tonally as a canon divergent fic.
Lastly, for Ninjago this time, I suggest "The Ninjago Fic" by graverobbee (https://archiveofourown.org/works/31791664/chapters/78699049). It may have been written ironically, but it is one of the most compelling reads out there for Ninjago with an amazing cast of characters and wonderful ongoing arcs. If you aren't sensitive to harsh subject matter, I highly recommend you read it!

- Summer House by AnnaHay (a wonderfully well written SBI recovery modern au fic)
- in case of emergency, one hundred miles (series), and there's something about the soots by No_one_you_know (Expertly written fics about modern au crimeboys with foster family elements, modern au tommy running away to his estranged brother techno, and modern au tubbo + sbi small town horror)
- back in the days of our youth by PidgeScarlet (Beautiful bedrock bros fic where tommy basically turns into his 8 year old self and techno has to keep him alive)
- Literally any fic by MollyPollyKinz, but more specifically Breathing’s just a Rhythm, Witness the wreckage, and Piece by Piece. (time travel fix it au with sbi + clingyduo, crimeboys + techno superhero fic, fic where tommy is dream’s bio son and sam and him try to figure out what to do)
- listen to the music (series) by thanotaphobia (blue000jay) (Two-shot dadschlatt fics from tubbo’s pov, modern au)
