He hasn't quite figured out that Arthur can't see him
It's been a while since I have posted anything on here, I've still been around scrolling and watching all of you and your adventures, but between kids and the rest of the farm, I haven't had the time or energy to take, let alone post, photos, or write up updates. Arthur and Morgan are still around and enjoying their golden years, Lady is still the greatest dog, I lost Kaylee to idiopathic epilepsy back in 2024, that one hit really hard, she was my heart dog and best friend.
Since then we have been talking about getting an English Setter. It's been almost 2 years of planning, and he finally came home yesterday!
Meet Fisher! His registered name is The Fisher King, and I've been calling him Fish. My plan is to hunt pheasant, and hopefully get over the mountains to find some chukar with him. He's already very birdy and really confident and solid for his young age. It's been fascinating getting to know his parents and now him and comparing them to the border collies. The energy and drive are still there, but it's so different.
I'm hoping to get back into posting more often. I won't guarantee anything, lol, but I'll try. I haven't gotten my camera out in almost a year, having a toddler again doesn't help.
I want to call a future dog (possibly even the next one) Nimue. But I would be dooming myself to having to tell people how to pronounce it every single day.
Maybe I would just spell it like it sounds anywhere that needed her name (vet, trials, classes, kennel, etc).
I absolutely love it as a name! Though to be fair on my end I've never called her by Nimue, it's always Nim, Bim, Bimbo, or Neem. But I do sometimes have to explain it to the vet when I call, since they have her full name in their system. Thankfully she's the only Nimue with my last name and my first name is very unique so they usually know who I'm talking about pretty quickly, even if I just say it's for Nim.
Breed Standard
Any dog under 100 pounds is a “little dog” to me. i will take no further questions
if your dog is >10kg it’s big sorry i don’t make the rules
Large and small are a state of mind determined by the dog. I’m not going to argue with an 11kg cocker spaniel who thinks he’s larger than a horse.
Share a picture of your dog and a picture of what your dog is named for!

only one of my dogs is actually purposefully named after a thing
and that's bramble, who is named after the gin cocktail called a bramble

The snow finally melted and temps are above freezing again thankfully. Though that also brings back the rain, and quite a lot of it, so we are back to spending as little time outside as is possible.
A perfect litter of border collies
It may be single digits here for the first time in my life, but most of us are having fun!

We drove up into the mountains yesterday to play in the snow and find our Christmas tree. This was our first time up this specific forest service road, and it was absolutely beautiful! It's just across the highway from the more well traveled road that we usually venture up, and it was a much smoother ride, with even more breathtaking views.
This post is exclusively for dog owners. Is your bedroom door opened, closed or something else? Is the dog inside or outside the room and where are they sleeping
Our bedroom door is almost always open. The dogs mostly sleep spread around the room, Kaylee and Morgan will rotate between the floor and the couch or chair in the living room throughout the night. The cats will claw the carpet if they are ever locked in or out of the room, so they are pretty much allowed to be wherever, Lancer almost always sleeps between our feet, sometimes accompanied by Fiona or Leo.
I have a question. What do you call these three things? They have different names depending on where you live, and I’m curious.
🥰🥰🥰
Just add a girth that fits, I must have sold it,, and some open front boots and she might just make a cute little jumper...
