This song has been in my head ever since I finished watching the movie Heartbeats. Recommended to me by my good friend I couldn't help but totally identify with these characters. A little too much :)

Since I have not been posting for a long time I thought I would offer something sweet as a peace offering :) So yum!
I am no video game player. In fact they scare me a little. However my husband was playing a game on his PSP and I heard this stunning music flowing from where he was sitting. He was playing Echochrome. A game all about creating your own reality. All in simple black and white graphics you are taking your little man through a puzzle that changes its reality based on your perspective, needless to say it becomes extremely addictive. You are also serenaded the whole time you play it by a beautiful score composed by Hideki Sakamoto. As a dancer I am fascinated with movement and perspective, so this music and the idea of this game captured my imagination. This is only one sample of the music, however each piece is expertly written to transport you into this other world where conventional rules no longer apply. Unfortunately they don't sell this music as a complete soundtrack so I will have to go find it somewhere in Japan :) You can watch videos on game play, or find other music samples, on you tube or if you ask around you could probably find someone who has it.
Old footage from 2008 however it shows off beautiful articulation of the body and awesome use of texture. Nederlands Dans Theater I performs in 'Signing Off' a triple-bill: Wings of Wax (Kylian) | Signing Off (Lightfoot León | Speak for Yourself (Lightfoot León). For Signing Off Lightfoot Leon received the international danceprize Benois de la Danse.

Lee Alexander McQueen is never really going to die. If you can write poetry in the form of couture, you simply won’t.
This Adidas commercial, directed by Charlie White with music by Greg Weeks, was shown to me by a friend forever ago, and when I was trying to think of something interesting to post this popped back into my head. The idea that the colour pink is the subject is brilliant and the whole video is creepy but beautiful, full of texture and gorgeous pink colour.
Le petit bal perdu by Philipp Decoufle was floating around facebook a while ago however I found it again and felt like I should put it up. As a modern dancer I am a sucker for a good gesture phrase.
Design by Alexander McQueen. Pure Power.
A short film showcasing Daphne Guinness and her collection of Alexander McQueen pieces. Absolutely gorgeous clothes and an interesting perspective of Daphne Guinness and her performance art at Barney's New York.
What two better things to be together than stunning Chloe dresses and a beautiful dancer in that dress. I would spin around for hours in any of these. New York City Ballet principal Janie Taylor and, corps member/choreographer for the piece, Justin Peck dance in this short film by Bon Duke.
If there is anything I like more it is an over the top character, and a funny one at that. Zenaida Yanowsky dances the part of the Queen of Hearts, in Christopher Wheeldon's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, so well that I was laughing out loud. She has the perfect balance of insane monster and sweet brat that just makes the audience nervous to be in her presence. Wheeldon's choreography is clever without dumbing down anything, allowing us to enjoy the characters and the gorgeous technique of the Royal Ballet's dancers all at the same time. Plus I would give anything to wear her opening heart dress.
Petit Mort (Part 2) Gorgeous bodies. Gorgeous music. Stunning choreography. Everything you need for a good morning. Part one and two together are a sweet journey.
Petit Mort (part 1) This is one of my all time favorites. Petit Mort, choreographed by Jiri Kylian for Netherlands Dance Theatre, is a study in choreographic genius. His use of simplicity, fluid movement, props, the element of surprise, musicality and partnering are something to marvel at. You cannot pull your eyes away from the dancers in this company who bring the notion of dancing and technique to the highest levels. Will also post part 2.
I'm a sucker for a pink ruffly skirt, and I'm a sucker for some gorgeous legs and this video has both. This is the second duet from Grupo Corpo's Lecuona called Mariposa. The lighting fast turns and quick dynamics changes by these dancers makes you feel like you are reading about a tumultuous love affair.
Obsessed. I haven't actually seen the movie but I have been singing the music all over my apartment. Time to see the movie now I guess. The style of this time is so infectious.
No words. Just gorgeous. Would love to see this in a dance.
This video is something I came across when I was looking to be inspired to do partner work. I fear to touch it still, but this piece, along with all of Grupo Corpo's work, makes it look effortless. This piece called Lecuona was choreographed by Rodrigo Pederneiras. Only having seen the you tube video's it seems to be part of a series of duets. I will post a few more of the duets in the days to come. Having some Portuguese (though not from Brazil) heritage myself it's nice to see a company take part of their culture and pour it into their movement.
