someday, a film maker will be brave enough to recognize that what we need is a sci fi adaptation of Dracula. someday.
The things that were scary about Dracula (foreigners, blood-drinking, religious damnation) and the things that were new and exciting (blood transfusion, wax cylinder records, international train travel) are no longer impressive to a modern audience. Hence why Jonathan Harker needs to travel to another PLANET to meet with a mysterious figure who turns out to be part of a parasitic alien mycelial network that is taking host bodies, and why Mina needs to be a self-taught hacker, and Seward a cyborg doing cutting-edge medical research on alien life forms.
Quincy is still just Quincy, of course.
