Have been suffering a lot of summer holiday art block so I'm super happy to have finally have enough of an idea to create a finished piece :) The Dancer (2025)
This oxeye daisy needs a slight adjustment on the alpha for the leaf to get rid of that white outline but other than that super happy with this flower :)
Part 5/5 of my concept art module for uni: The Relic Finder Originally did not have this prop as part of my plan but was getting way too frustrated drawing stylized faces for my character and my deadline is monday so I pulled this out my ass instead and I'm actually really happy with it!
Silhouettes of fossils studies of or inspired by reference images
Device concepts. Pickaxe inspired with the idea being that once you'd found the relic you would use the pickaxe to dig it out of stone
The fossil slotted into the device glows when nearing an Atlantean Relic, different fossils have different strengths/ different types of relics they can detect
Potential colour palettes
Turnaround (Side, front, back, top) The device has space for up to 3 fossils
Picking which colour the device will glow when near relics
Final render of the device in its activated state
Part 4/5 of my concept art module for uni: Harpoon gun Honestly not hugely inspires, it's just a harpoon gun but it makes for world-appropriate weapon
In order: Studies Silhouettes Colour Palettes Final Render
Part 3/5 Concept Art Module for uni: Environment
This environment is an underground cave only accessible via a tunnel of water. This is where the diver character brings his different relics to store and sometimes study before selling them in a sort of grey market
Thumbnail ideas for what the environment could look like
My original blockout and paintover, submitted this for feedback week and pretty much only got negative feedback so back to the drawing board
My second attempt at a block out, I liked the original but I will admit this one is much better
Birdseye map showing the layout of the cave
Final Renders of the environment
cleaning out my bedroom at the moment and I found this drawing I did for my GCSE art class (would’ve been 2019ish) drawn with windsor and newton promarker and biro
A study of Violin and Guitar 1913 by Juan Gris
Part 2 of my concept art module at uni Domesticated Penguins! These penguins colour palette was influenced by the fact that they live in nordic regions. In real life, penguins live only in the southern hemisphere and have no natural predators. These penguins would have the natural predator of polar bears and therefore their colours adapted to blend in with their surroundings considering the fact that polar bears are colour blind
studies of different breeds of penguin

Turn around
Sketches of various activities the penguins help with

Haven't done a digital painting in ages but I took a photo of my partner and the cat we're cat-sitting napping together and they looked so beautiful I was very inspired to use it as a reference :)
Timelapse of my process drawing my final drawing to go along with my concept art (Previous post) for uni super happy with how this turned out :) I traced parts of the pose because although I am getting better at figure drawing I really needed the proportions to be right on the body to match it with my turnaround. I left it in the time lapse for full transparency on my process, however this was the only thing traced in this entire project
So I've FINALLY finished the concept art pipeline for 1/5 of my concepts for my current module at uni (1 character, 1 functional prop (this diving equipment), 1 environment, 1 weapon, 1 creature) so I thought I'd share it here as I'm actually super proud of it. These aren't the full quality images as they're not watermarked like they will be on my portfolio and I don't want the full quality images getting stolen :p
Studies A set of 4 colour studies + one sketch focussing primarily on the structure of the helmet and equipment as well as practising drawing a metal texture
2. Silhouettes for the helmet Playing around with both front and side views and exploring different shapes whether they're more realistic to traditional diving helmets or have some sort of unique element to them
3. Sketch of final design + levelling variations
4. 3D blockout in Blender
5. Sketches of diving suit ideas The final design (centre) combines my favourite elements from various designs, the main thing that changed after this point was just the ring decoration became a zipper
6. testing out different colour palettes Each test is half covered with a blue filter to see how readable the palette would be when the character was underwater as well as how appealing they'd be on land
7. Turnaround of the suit
Final Render
30 Minute life drawing session from photo references timelapse (lineofaction.com) I'm pretty happy with how this went, I was experimenting with using a more charcoal like brush when normally I'd prefer something more pencil-like for this (both digitally and traditionally)
Having such bad art block honestly so I thought I'd take it really back to basics with a timed primitive shape study class.
Would highly recommend:
https://line-of-action.com/practice-tools/app#/still-life for any timed figure/life study practise I find it really customisable and forgiving :)
More work for my concept art module at uni, for this I'm designing a diving suit helmet as one of my props. All of this was just done today so I'm really happy with how productive I've managed to be, when I haven't been able to in a while :)
In order: -Studies from photo reference focussing on structure and metal rendering -Silhouettes combining various elements from studies and moodboard -Helmet design sketch showing level scaling -Blockout for turnaround
Had an absolutely vile time recording this as my laptop ran out of storage half way through and then it wouldn't render properly ;-;
I'll post the actual pages seperately probably as a reblog to this
Other than that though, this was a fun exercise I've not done in a while

Process of making some environment thumbnails for my concept art module at uni. I've never concepted an environment before but I'm still pretty happy with how they turned out!
It's a group project set in a nordic/arctic style location, but for (part of) my contribution I'm working on the diver character's secret cave air-pocket that can only be reached via an underwater tunnel where he stores valuable things he found on the sea floor
It's not my best work in terms of portraiture but I really wanted to try something with a softer pastel light as thats not what I normally do
