itâs never too early to teach children about the devaluation of labor!

As a fiber artist, it BREAKS MY HEART when creators post in one of the fiber art Facebook groups Iâm in that âI made this, Iâm charging X, is that too much?â and the picture will be a stunning queen size afghan and the price theyâre worried is too high is 50$. i just want to shout âPRICE OF MATERIALS + TIME IT TOOK TO MAKE @ MINIMUM WAGEâ at the minimum.
people undervalue art so drastically that artists end up undervaluing their hard work.
me: i should draw something with a background

Sea of Stars is a âšstellarâš classic rpg that may be released in 2023 but has all the magic of of 1990s classics. This game was made with love â€
The amount of creativity I possess when I have absolutely no time to do anything with it is astounding.
The lack of creativity when I have nothing going on is disappointing

I gotta find the sweet spot between âI create art to make myself happyâ and âif this post doesnât get more reblogs Iâm gonna light myself on fireâ
DEAR ARTISTS, PLEASE READ THIS POST I STUMBLED ACROSS
IF YOU ARE NOT DOING THIS ALREADY, YOU SHOULD TRY IT
I even tested it out myself, it works great
You know what makes me the most upset about the use of AI in our culture? It's not just removing artists from art or devaluing human creativity -- it's treating people like they're disposable.
Oh, you're not that special. We have computers to do that now. If you died tomorrow, we have your image. We have your voice. We have your biometric data. We can just duplicate you, it's no problem. Who needs flesh and blood? Who needs agency and free thought? Who needs the human soul? You're just a tool. And when we're done with you, we'll just toss you aside and find someone else.
Creatives, listen to me, and listen to me good: you have a voice and it matters. There is no one in the history of the world who is exactly like you, in this time or this place. There is no one who thinks like you, acts like you, speaks like you, moves like you. There is nobody else built like you. Nobody else with your unique experiences and outlook of the world. You are a product of history, of culture, of art, of love, of pain, of possibility. Don't let them take that from you.

I just had a small epiphany why you might like other peopleâs art more than your own:
Itâs the lack of suspension of disbelief.
When you see something someone else has drawn or painted, you take in the content faster than you take in the technical aspects. You experience it as pseudo-real, the same way you stop perceiving animated characters as drawn or book characters as written as you get into the story.
On the other hand, when you yourself have made something, all you see is the machine behind the theater, so to speak. Youâre probably thinking about lines, shading, coloring in a âdoes this make sense? Is this the best decision I could have made?â-kind of way.
I think thatâs also why sometimes, pictures you havenât looked at for a long time starts looking nice to you again, Ă la: âHey past-me was unto something! Why canât I replicate it nowadays?â. Itâs probably specifically because youâve forgotten the process of making it that you are now seeing it with fresh eyes.
Art is an illusion, but a magician has a hard time tricking themself. So donât be so hard on yourself: itâs probably just that you canât see the magic right now, but that doesnât mean itâs not there.
You just put something into words that I have been feeling for a while. This might actually get me to try digital painting again, thank you.
Omg, Iâm glad to hear đ
Before the computing era, ILM was the master of oil matte painting, making audiences believe that some of the sets in the original Star Wars and Indiana Jones trilogy were real when they werenât. They were the work of geniuses like Chris Evans, Michael Pangrazio, Frank Ordaz, Harrison Ellenshaw and Ralph McQuarrie ! Forever thank you, to their handmade art and the work of their colleagues, that made us dream of impossible worlds and fantastic places across Earth and the Universe.
There are more background paintings on this article, featuring comments by the masters/artists themselves !Â
Some of the following pieces were made by other artists 2:
exCUSE ME?!?!!??!??! TheYRE PAINTINGS?!??!!?!
SHUT UP I thought they were miniatures!!!!
Itâs too beautiful. I could cry.
I love this because Iâll be watching a movie and think âhow did they do that? Is that a building they built for this movie? Was it there beforehand? Is it cardboard or CGI? Is that actually some place on Earth that theyâre filming?â And the answer to all of these now is ânope, thatâs a paintingâ. I canât believe some of the most iconic, familiar shots were paintings!
