hyperfixation please stay with me long enough to complete the project. hyperfixation do not fade. hyperfixation finish what you started for the love of god
sometimes you need dialogue tags and don't want to use the same four
FACIAL MICRO EXPRESSIONS FOR WRITERS <3
How to Fix Underwriting
1. Slow down at emotionally important moments.
Big emotions need space to land. If a scene feels rushed, pause the plot briefly to show how the moment affects the character.
2. Add reactions, not explanations.
Instead of explaining what a character feels, show it through physical responses, hesitation, or small actions that reveal emotion naturally.
3. Ground every scene in the senses.
If a scene feels thin, add one or two sensory detailsâsound, texture, smell, or temperatureâto make the moment feel lived-in.
4. Let thoughts interrupt action.
A line of internal thought can deepen a scene without slowing it too much. Thoughts show stakes, fear, longing, or conflict beneath the action.
5. Expand consequences, not events.
You donât need more things to happenâyou need to show what matters. Focus on how events change relationships, decisions, or self-perception.
6. Strengthen setting where emotion peaks.
The environment should echo or contrast the emotion of the scene. Setting is not decorationâitâs emotional reinforcement.
7. Add specific details instead of general ones.
Underwriting often relies on vague language. Swap âthey arguedâ for one sharp line of dialogue or a specific breaking point.
8. Let dialogue breathe.
Short dialogue exchanges without pauses can feel flat. Add beatsâsilence, gestures, interruptionsâto give the conversation weight.
9. Show transitions between scenes.
If scenes jump too quickly, readers feel disoriented. A brief transition helps establish time, mood, and emotional continuity.
10. Clarify stakes early in the scene.
If readers donât know what can be lost, scenes feel empty. Make sure the character wants something specific and fears losing it.
11. Use the âwhat are they feeling right now?â check.
After each major beat, ask what emotion is dominant in that moment. If itâs missing on the page, the scene is likely underwritten.
12. Expand scenes that feel âtoo clean.â
If a scene resolves too neatly or quickly, it probably needs more tension. Messy emotions and unresolved feelings add depth.

@boosthefaerie may I kindly request?
Iâve been considering doing a oneshot eventually, but hereâs a blurb:
Regulus always lurked around her older brother and his friends.
She wanted to be included, know what they were up toâ and Remus? Remus always felt bad because Regulus seemed sweet, so she always let Reg sit next to her a lunch and tended to chat with her.
Sometimes Regulus would bring her degenerate friends, sometimes she wouldnât, but whenever Remus had her hair down Regulus always asked to braid it, offering snarky commentary to whatever conversation the boys were having.
Remusâ herself was more of a tomboy which is how she fell into the Marauders, but Regulus always wore her prim, ironed uniforms to standard. Skirt maybe hiked up a bit, but her shirt buttoned properly, tie perfect, stockings on, and loafers shining as if she polished them every night.
Remus thought is was cute.
But by the time Regulus made it to uni a year after Remus, James, Sirius, and Peter had begun attending, Remus didnât think Regulus was just cute.
No.
She was fucking gorgeous and unfairly hot.
The first time Regulus came out with them at the pub when she first got to uni, Remus felt her heart flutter wildly.
Regulus had shown up in low riding jeans that sat on her hips, a tight little cropped camisole that showed off her waist, and Siriusâ leather jacket that he had been missing for over a year hanging off her slim frame. Her black curls moved as she walked, little star barrettes in her hair that captured the low light of the pub.
And Remus didnât miss the way that Regulus was certainly also wearing a push up bra, her perky little tits creating cleavage above the shirt that moved while she walked.
Remus was floored, trying not to stare, and felt under dressed in her own jeans and oversized jumper.
Remus was fucked from that point forward.
And she seemed to come around more to hang outâ but specifically only talked to Remus, glancing up at her with big silver eyes through her lashes, pressed against her arm as if Remus would consider leaving.
Then Regulus asked Remus to grab coffee with her one dayâ just them.
Remus thought it was friendly, despite Regulusâ short black skirt and baby tee she was wearing, both of them sitting across from each other on the patio outside. Regulus sipped her iced shaken espresso until she huffed, listening to Remus talk about her classes before cutting Remus off from whatever she had been saying.
âDo you not like me?â Regulus asked, leaning a bit across the table.
âLike you? Of course Iââ
âNo, do you not like me because Iâve been flirting with you for weeks and then asked you on a date and youâre treating it as if weâre just two girl friends catching up,â Regulus clarified before Remus could finish her sentence.
And Remus? Remusâ heart nearly stopped because maybe she had picked up some of her friendâs obliviousness.
âI didnât realize that you wereâ no, I do fancy you, but I didnât think you liked me,â Remus admitted, Regulus raising a brow at that.
âIâve fancied you since year ten, Rem,â Regulus statedâ a fact, not a statement in mind.
âOh,â Remus breathed.
âYeah, âohâ. So if you and I fancy each other, this is officially a date if you havenât considered it that before,â Regulus said primly, taking a sip from her straw.
âYeah, alright,â was all Remus could manage because her head was spinning with the fact that Regulus Black liked her back.
Within thirty minutes they were back at Remusâ flat, Regulus straddling Remusâ lap and her hands on Regulusâ hips as they made out on the couch, Regulus tasting of bitter espresso, mint, and the strawberry chapstick she had on her lips.
Remus was obsessed with the flavour.
And from there, the rest was history because once they both got a taste of each other, they werenât about to let the other go.
Remus was more than happy about that because she had a pretty little girlfriend now who was sweet, smart, snarkyâ and Regulus? Regulus always looked at Remus as if she hung the moon.
soooo good!
moonwater but they don't know each other's identity and communicate through notes hidden in books from the library.

Thereâs something so uniquely terrifying about memory issues. I feel like my self is slipping away from me.
Hereâs the thing I feel like a lot of folks donât get: Iâm not trying to forget what you said. Honestly, I really tried not to. I canât control what I do and donât rememberâforgetting things just happens. Itâs annoying for you, I know, but for me itâs distressing as hell and when you make a big deal out of it rather than just reminding me you make me feel ashamed. Iâll remember that, at least.
It costs you nothing to be kind to people with memory problems. Please. Itâs scary enough without people treating memory lapses as a personal failing.
Hey, reblog this version instead, please!

Snape hc
Snape wasn't an asshole the whole time, but started resenting the marauders for different reasons
Sirius, he was a pureblood and well respected something that Snape wasn't plus the prank later on
James, pureblood kinda the same as Sirius but also he had loving parents and "got" Lilly in the end also the prank
Remus, at first being "poor" but still got popular then the werewolf thing and/or the prank. Also being friends with Lilly (i think he was definitely the first marauder to befriend her) which started the butterfly effect of Lilly realizing who Snape truly was and started hating him
Peter, definitely was hated less but still hated bc he associated with the marauders and wasn't as "good" but the marauders still liked him
Thats my rant rb your thoughts
What a fucking load of bullshit. The reality is that he doesnât resent them for being rich, you idiot, he resents them because from day one they go after him to harass him and make his life miserable. James bullies him for YEARS because itâs JAMES (not Severus) who is jealous that another boy is close to the girl he fancies. This was confirmed by Rowling.
Also, James doesnât get together with Lily until seventh year, so what kind of deranged, brain-dead rhetoric is it to say that Severus was jealous of a guy who was rejected throughout his entire fucking friendship with Lily? What are you even talking about? And what does Sirius being pure-blood have to do with his relationship with Severus? Shall I remind you that Sirius almost got him killed? Donât you think maybe the issue had more to do with the fact that he literally saw him as prey (said by Harry himself) rather than with him being rich?
It is not canon that Remus was friends with Lily before she dated James. The only canon fact is that Severus and Lily were friends until fifth year. It is also not canon that Remus was poor at Hogwarts. Heâs poor later, when he canât get a job, but before that he had two very supportive parents and his father worked for the Ministry, what the fuck are you talking about? Maybe Severus couldnât stand him because he played the nice guy and stayed silent while his pure-blood friends went around attacking people âand specifically attacking him nonstopâ and the other one just stood there watching?
So, genuine question: do people who come to these half-baked, brain-rotted conclusions do so because they havenât read the books, or because they simply have the logical capacity of a fucking rock? Because saying Severus was âjealousâ and thatâs why he resented the Marauders, as if the Marauders werenât a gang of rich, abusive, aggressive little shits who made him their main target, is not only deeply dishonest, itâs textbook victim-blaming and some top-tier classist bullshit too, for a change.
If you want, we can start a crowdfunding campaign to see if you can buy yourself a brain, because it really should be illegal for people with sawdust instead of grey matter to say this kind of absolute bullshit in public.
im not saying the marauders weren't bad or that they didn't torment Snape, they did. I also do agree that James hated Severus first i just didn't write it for some reason.
But as seen in the title THIS IS A HEADCANNON its not supposed to be taken that seriously, you can say you don't agree with me that's completely fine but do say/write it CONSTRUCTIVELY not berate and insult me for having different opinions then you.
Another point you made is that the only cannon things said is James and Lilly getting together in 7th year, Lilly and Severus being friends until 5th and that Sirius saw Severus as prey which i get. But the whole point of the marauders fandom is to think about what could have happened, we get very little information about the marauders and their time so we make headcannons to explain and think about it. Its not me saying this is the canon im saying what I think.
One of my headcannons is that Remus was friends with Lilly, she could have been friends with both Remus and Severus, and i think it makes sense, Lilly and Remus is both seen as quite studious and having atleast one muggle parent so they could connect on that as well. And about the Remus wasn't poor thing, well he wasn't rich either, he had one wizard father that worked in the ministry but not in a very high position either and we don't know what Remus' mother was working as. Healing a young werewolf must have been expensive, potions, bandages and other medicine was probably not cheap. They also had to live quite far away from anyone to not arouse suspicions about Remus so that may have raised the cost of living, they probably weren't dirt poor but not that rich especially compared to the generacional wealth of Sirius or James
So in short i do think some of your points are valid, different perspectives can change things a lot, some of them aren't but that's okay, we are different people with different opinions.
What I don't think is okay is the insulting me for my OPINIONS, you called me brainless, an idiot, brain-dead, deranged, brain-rotten, having the intlect of a rock, just because my opinions are different then yours. Please grow up, this is not supposed to be taken that seriously, it's supposed to be a funny little thing, not to war against each other
The issue is not âhaving a different opinionâ, the issue is calling something a headcanon when it directly contradicts the text or reframes abuse in a way that blames the victim.
A headcanon is not âI can invent whatever I want and ignore canonâ. A headcanon is an idea built from canon, filling in gaps where the text is silent. For example: thinking Lily and Severus might have tried cigarettes together as kids. Is it stated? No. Could it have happened? Yes, because they were childhood friends living in the same Muggle area. Thatâs a headcanon.
What is not a headcanon is claiming Severus was jealous of James and Sirius because of their money, when the books explicitly establish that the problem was systematic bullying. Turning that into âenvyâ reframes the dynamic, minimizes the abuse, and places responsibility on the victim. Given the class difference involved ârich, upper-class aggressors versus a working-class kid from a violent, impoverished backgroundâ that framing is deeply problematic and, frankly, classist.
This is also where the âopinionâ argument falls apart. An opinion is saying you think Sirius was more aggressive than James, or that James matured faster. An opinion is not inventing events or motivations that contradict what the text explicitly tells us. What Iâm stating are not opinions; they are canonical facts. And the ironic part is that every single point you misrepresented is directly addressed in the books.
As for the âwhat could have happenedâ argument: thatâs not a headcanon. Thatâs an AU. âWhat if things had gone differently?â has a name, and itâs not headcanon. Headcanons donât remove agency or accountability from canon characters, especially not when that removal ends up excusing abusers while reframing the victim as âenviousâ or âresentfulâ.
Saying âwhat if James and Lily didnât get together in seventh yearâ isnât playful speculation, itâs flat-out contradicting canon. Canon establishes that Lily and Severus were friends until fifth year, that Lily never had anything romantic with James before seventh year, and that James targeted Severus because he was close to Lily. Thatâs not debatable, itâs in the text.
Your RemusâLily headcanon also doesnât work canonically. If Lily were close friends with Remus while Severus was being relentlessly bullied by Remusâs best friends âwith Remus participating passively and enabling itâ that would paint Lily as someone who stayed close to people complicit in her best friendâs abuse. The books never suggest that. In canon, Lily doesnât show closeness to Remus at all. The people she appears to trust are Sirius and later Peter. Your idea doesnât just lack support; it actively undermines Lilyâs characterization.
And no, Remus ânot being richâ is irrelevant here. Not being wealthy is not the same as growing up in an industrial-era slum in 1960s England, wearing second-hand clothes because you canât afford new ones, with no stable home and no parental support. Remus had a loving family and support networks. Severus didnât. Equating those situations shows a complete lack of understanding of class dynamics. If you donât understand that context, maybe read up on it before making claims that flatten it.
Finally, you donât get to dismiss canon facts just because you dislike their implications. My points are valid because they are canonical. What youâre doing is sanitizing abusers and shifting blame onto the victim, and then acting surprised when people react strongly. If your post framed any other form of systemic abuse that way, youâd immediately see how disturbing that logic is. Imagine saying a person of color is envy of white guys and that's the reason they are mean to that person like wtf dude.
So no, this isnât about ânot respecting opinionsâ. This is about refusing to accept a misuse of fandom terms to excuse narratives that are harmful, unsupported, and directly contradicted by the source material.
okay maybe all of the things I've said here aren't headcanons, they may be au's, but I literally said that I agree on some of your points, and you have just been outright hostile to me for no/very little reason. This was supposed to be a little fun thing that wasn't supposed to be taken seriously. If you don't agree, there are better ways to go on about telling me without insulting me multiple times, and being horrible
Do you find racism funny? Of course you donât.
Do you find homophobia funny? Of course you donât.
So why should your post be funny when itâs full of fucking classism?
Do you still not understand where the problem is? How bigoted you sounded?
Seriously?
I did not mean to sound bigoted or any of the sort. I just said that the post wasn't meant to be taken this seriously. I understand that this post angered you but this amount of hate is unprecedented. Can we just say that i was wrong and leave it at that?
