Pollinate much? When not completely covered in pollen, the lesser long-nosed bat is light brown or cinnamon gray. A migratory nectar bat native to the Southwestern United States and northern Mexico, this bat is an important pollinator. In the United States, they pollinate plants like agaves, saguaro and organ pipe cacti. The lesser long-nosed was also the first bat removed from the federal Endangered Species Act due to recovery under the Trump Administration in 2018. Back in 1988, when the species was first listed, there were thought to be only about 1,000 bats. There are now an estimated 200,000 bats range-wide. Photo by National Park Service.

This is Dubai! He’s a handsome neutered 3yo American Staffordshire Terrier #amstafflove & he’s been my foster dog since June (I can’t believe it’s been that long 💩)! He’s a very cuddly, goofy, playful boy. He had terrible kennel anxiety at the shelter, so they put out the call and I came that day bc it was clear he needed an immediate change of scenery! We’re in search of a forever family where he has a strong playmate with a similar energy level and play style... or a two human household where he can get lots of play/walking to allow him to get his zoomies out! Hehe Like most pups that weren’t socialized as puppies, he needs boundaries for play with his humans and within his home because if he doesn’t have a dog to play with he tends to revert to the same style of rough play with non-canine friends. Normally, he does well with correction. He’s a hardcore cuddler and bed hog that prefers focused attention or for you at least to be stationary so he can lay on some part of his humans haha. One of Dubai’s many talents is the total and efficient deconstruction of his toys 😉 He destroys them with zeal and it’s impressive to witness haha. He does not chew up things that don’t belong to him and the destruction is a healthy way to get his chewing energy out! I also give him antlers and other long lasting chewer toys and he loves them too. He loves treats and is especially motivated by cheese and meat (but not peanut butter). However, he’s not food aggressive!! Also, he respects boundaries set by the humans as far as begging and being around people eating. He does get his pills in string cheese, so he does see that as his food and will expect to receive some whenever someone opens one haha. 🤷🏼‍♀️🧀🐶💜 Dubai is very tolerant of handling, poking, and prodding. He allows handling of all parts of his body and allows me to bathe him, clean his ears, trim his nails, etc. without anything more than attempting to escape if given a large opening haha. He does have a strong prey drive and will want to chase small things that run away. He sometimes barks at squirrels, chipmunks, and lizards from inside if he can see them from the storm-door or sun porch.
