X-rays were discovered by accident.
While experimenting with cathode rays covered by thick cardboard in 1895, Wilhelm Rƶntgen noticed a light being cast on a fluorescent board across the room. The first X-ray was of the hand of his wife, who saw the image of her bones and exclaimed āI have seen my death!ā
So he named them X-rays, using an āXā to represent their mysterious nature.

Remember this viral post? Wanda and Jamal and her husband Lonnie are the most wholesome people, this story brought tears to my eyes originally and I am crying once more learning from Jamal's social media that Lonnie has sadly passed away.
Rest in Peace, Lonnie :(
The sweetest cow I met in 2018.
WHAT THE ENTIRE FUCK
The company isnāt boasting about using cheap/unpaid/forced penal labor.
Itās a project offering voluntary employment opportunities with fair trade wages to incarcerated women, allowing them to amass decent savings and avoid recidivism (i.e., having to return to prostitution, drug muling, and the other poverty-related crimes as soon as their sentences are up, because theyāre right back in poverty where they started).
No, itās not the all-or-nothing Tumblr justice solution⢠of magically abolishing the PIC overnight, but itās a significant improvement over the literal slave labor most corporations employ, while raking in the entirety of a prisonerās surplus and setting them up for recidivism.
Y'allā¦.this isnāt slave labor the way the vast majority of prusin labor is. They have a 30 hour work week and pay their employees a LIVING WAGE. Also the company was founded after talking to women in prison about their lives and needs

Pooh Bear
I see many Winnie the Poohs at the hospital (aka Winnie aka Pooh aka Pooh Bear), as you may guess.Ā Many look like this, a bit flat and with small wounds, designed to have a removable shirt:
They come for spas:
New hearts and stuffing:
And plumping up so they have a proper belly again:
Sometimes they look like this:
A bit more loved⦠or as his person said, in moreĀ ādesperate conditionā.
He also had a spa (not everyone does):
As you mayāve noticed, he needed a new nose and there were several options:
His heart had a pooh on it as well as some magic from a heffalump:
And after a bit of arm and smile surgery, soon he was healthy and ready to fly home:
His person wroteĀ āHe looks wonderful!ā
The final Pooh Iām going to show you today just flew home yesterday.Ā He is always called Pooh Bear.Ā He is 14 years old and showed every year of hugs.Ā Ā
Here are the photos his personās mom sent for diagnosis:
As you can see, Pooh Bear was a bit flat and a bit gray.Ā He came in for a spa:
Got new stuffing and a magical Heffalump heart to preserve a bit of his original stuffing:
And finally was clean and plump and fluffy and ready to fly home:
He could even sit on his own!Ā His people said his chubbiness was perfect and as I said, he flew home yesterday!
