“Axel would be the culprit, she pulled Loop’s hair and Lutz decided to attack them both mid fight. I played referee between all three and now my favorite picture frame is broken and I’m pretty sure I have several new bruises. Now would be great. Their father can have some quality daughter time.” Whoever said triplets was a good idea was wrong, wrong, wrong.

“You look so… empty. I’m worried for you, please talk to me.”

(This is pre-meeting Minami for anyone who cares.)

Aurelia paused at the counter of Hasetsu Ice Castle, looking at Yuuko. Since moving here a few months ago, her Japanese had slightly improved but it was still hard for her to meet new people. Thank god the Japanese woman knew English.

Since moving, she had felt increasingly alone and cut off. And as a result, the nightmares and the hands had begun to plague her for the past week. There hadn’t been a night where she hadn’t woken up, biting back a scream in a cold sweat with the lingering feeling of the fingers gripping her body. Normally she would practice her music, but the notes had begun to blur together due to how tired she was. While she couldn’t do any of the fancy flips or spins, she was fairly good at skating and found it help to calm her slightly, coming more often and formed a loose friendship with Yuuko in the process. But she couldn’t tell the other woman what was wrong. No body could know. All she would get from revealing her secret was pity. So she avoided the problem.

“It’s nothing. I’m fine. I promise.” she replied.

Yuuko stood on her tiptoes, reaching with earnest and determination to get the rental pair of ice skates on an upper shelf. She was much too stubborn for her size, refusing to get a stool or step ladder. A couple quick jumps and she finally got them in place. Yuuko turned to greet Aurelia with a triumphant smile. The other woman looked so tired, so vacant. She was instantly worried about her.

“Mmmm, well how about I close this place up and we can go grab some tea or go take a long soak at the bath house.” Both of those things seemed to always relax Yuuko and she hoped she could pass it along to Aurelia. Unfortunately, she wasn’t always great in her methods, but she would keep trying until she got something right. She hated seeing people so gloomy, when they were so amazing. Yuuko offered her a smile waiting to hear her response. “Or we could go out on the ice, you don’t have to be a superstar to strap on some skates.” Regardless of what some of the locals seemed to think.

She smiled weakly at Yuuko. She knew she wasn’t being very convincing, but she didn’t have the energy to care at this point. “Well, tea does sound great right now, I kind of just want to skate around. B-but you don’t need to close up!” Since she couldn’t focus on music or a book, she wanted to escape to the ice.

“Okay well, hmm…” Yuuko took a second to think before she suggested anything further. “How about we go take a few rounds on the ice, I won’t even bother you if you don’t want me to, and then maybe get some tea later?” She blew her bangs out of her eyes and offered the other woman a smile. Yuuko had been itching to get out in the rink all day, anyways.

“That would be great, actually. Thank you… And I don’t mind if you join me and talk.” Her smile grew a little more genuine. Maybe friendly company was exactly what she needed. ‘But you’re making her worry. She’s probably just being nice.’ She brushed the thoughts aside and waited for Yuuko to get her skates and come out from behind the counter.

“Okay great!” Yuuko jumped and clapped her hands. She turned around like a tornado and grabbed up her skates from behind the counter, along with the keys to lock the front door so no one bothered them. “Come on then, let’s go.” She began leading the way toward the rink.
