MCU!Asgard Afterthought: Undergarments, Nightwear & Children's Clothes

A long time ago, my darling Reneausten and I spent a fruitful transatlantic evenafternoon discussing that burning question: what may Loki wear under his armour?

For the sake of science, I roamed the Interweb, and read a lot of fanfiction that would be likely to give undergarments a prominent place. Oftentimes, fic may provide a useful insight on the general consensus, and pondering on its reasons to be is never uninteresting.

Well. In the case that preoccupies us, would you like to know what the general consensus is? Mmh? Would you? Well, I am going to tell you what it is. The general consensus is pANTY FUCKING RIPPING ALRIGHT.

Goodness gracious, there isn’t one smutfic in which Asgardians, and when I say Asgardians I mean of course Loki, aren’t shredding cotton and lace like a bunch of moths tripping on acid, except for the ones in which lingerie gets magicked away, of course. Which, please.

Needless to say, all this didn’t exactly help. I fled durably traumatised and tormented by visions of precious fabrics being torn apart by alien brutes and tropephiliac writers, but most of all, I left as clueless as I had come.

Time went by, until this arrived in my Askbox:

Do you think Thor and Loki went through breeching? Considering the nature of the clothing in Asgard, it seems like they could have spent their first years in frocks, but their “highly advanced” status makes me wonder.

Once again, the striking contrast between Asgard’s immensely advanced technology and the Asgardians’ fetish for everything antiquated is making me wonder from which side I should choose. Actually, the contrast is present in the clothes the princes themselves wear, at once elaborate and functional—hard to say, in fact, with all that shiny metal, those rich fabrics, and the many cows massacred for everyone’s leather, where does the armour end and the flourish begins.

I’m quite sure he’d find them pleasing. He indeed has a broad range of taste regarding clothes. Throughout the comics we see him in fur, leather, tunics, and even donning ripped clothes as a fashion statement.

In the MCU we often see him with dark green and black leather garments, he doesn’t necessarily dress like the Aesir around him by any means. He’s got that dark twist in his clothing choice, which is probably entirely purposeful. Overall the aesir clothing choice in the general population have a dressing style similar to ancient Greco Roman (that’s just how i would describe it). BUT we see lots of armor in the royalty as daily wear.

Fun fact; there’s a NSFW game on Newgrounds where if you answer questions about the Norse mythology correctly you get to undress Loki. It’s different every time. Fun stuff. ;)
