Hi, itâs been a while.
Iâm not sure what to say. Last we spoke, life as we knew it, was normal.
Since then, I worked hard on my studies.
My partner and I did some serious work outside of one another and decided to become a couple again.
Life as we knew it, flipped on its axis.
And since then,
I lost my job. Lost my other job.
Lost my confidence.
Temporarily left school.
Found a job. Although I rocked it, it was not the right fit.
Decided to go back to school.
Graduated.
Spent a month back home visiting family, and ten days before my return my sweet, sweet dog crossed the rainbow bridge.
Life has not been the same. I have aged far beyond my years. Iâm sad all the time. I have no motivation to keep on keeping on. I donât know my purpose.
I wish this life update were positive. Iâm just sad all the time. A âwarâ on innocent people may have something to also do with it.
Iâm lucky to live the life I do. And Iâm hopeful that my mental health will be in a much better place when I return for another update. I hope you are all well. I hope life is being kind to you and your loved ones. Stay blessed.
My mom taught me to exaggerate my pain so that doctors would take me seriously and all I'm saying is that it hasn't failed me yet
Listen. If you're a Black Woman you absolutely should exaggerate your pain.
We're dying because these doctors refuse to take us seriously. If you feel like something is off exaggerate it until they test for it. We've gotta advocate for ourselves
Seriously yall. Doctors would rather you be in pain than have to actually diagnose you. Some doctor stans gon be mad but damn if it took 10 years for them to successfully diagnose my mom after she was telling them textbook recounts of what she was experiencing and if it took 8 years for my aunt experiencing terrible indescribable pain in her stomach that they could have EASILY xrayed her for to which they actually did after literal fuckin years of her crying they found that the last operator on her left shit in her stomach. Then yes doctors don't fucking care aboht patients anymore. Its a money business and you're a dollar sign to them. May be some legit ones out there but in my experience its been "you're fine, heres some shit that won't help." Because nothing fuckin changes.
So many stories of people having to see 3,4 different doctors with the same symptoms just to get someone that'll run all the tests so they can get a diagnosis
I had all the classic symptoms of Multiple sclerosis 4 years ago. I mean textbook symptons. A disease which has no cure and which best hope is to get on treatment as soon as you see symptoms to delay or stop disease progression.
I went to my doctor after the er discharged me with âstressâ and said âhelp my face is numb and Iâm scared. He looked at me in my face and said âwell what do you want me to do about it?â I had to beg to see a neurologist. The neurologist refused to let me speak and told me I was just stressed and refused to schedule me for an mri. Had she done that they would have found lesion on my brain.
4 years later I have now 2 lesions on my brain consistent with MS. I only found a doctor willing to take me seriously by happenstance after being hospitalized and refused a surgery that I would need anyway a few short months later. While on the hospital I was dismissed and refused pain medication unless I was literally screaming.
Fuck these doctors. Advocate for yourself hard.
âI want to copies of your documentation in my records of the symptoms I have reported and what actions were taken to respond to them.â
LISTEN ALL OF YOU BUT BLACK WOMEN ESPECIALLY
If a doctor refuses treatment or tests, say âI would like your refusal to treat documented in my chart.â
Then wait about 24 hours. (Partly for computer processing time, partly so if they think theyâre being smart and saying yes but not actually doing it theyâll think theyâre in the clear.)
Then call the doctorâs office AND SAY YOU WANT A COPY OF YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS.
If the refusal to treat isnât in your records, you now have a malpractice suit.
Very, very few doctors are going to risk that possibility. Theyâll bitch and moan when you ask for documentation, but theyâll run your tests.
As a comparison, by the way, hereâs a doctor who had nothing to hide: my momâs eye doctor when her eye started getting to the âItâs going to have to be physically removedâ stage. He met us at the office at 9pm, long after close, with his date, to give my mom an injection to try to relieve the pressure in the eye. (Luckily said date also worked at the clinic and completely understood why he was doing this. Heâs a great guy, he deserves a great lady.) I asked if he could note the exact time in her records, because the time needed between these injections was speeding up immensely. His reply:
âActually that could give us an idea how fast this is progressing. Yes. What time is it? Iâll look up her earlier visit when Iâm done.â
If your doctor isnât that eager to make these notes, demand documentation and try to find a new doctor ASAP. It will save your life.
my mom taught me early (I was a super sick kid) that as fat latinas you do three things during every interaction with healthcare workers:
wear makeup and nice clothes even at the emergency room. not a anything too dressy but it has to be clean, well fitting, and well coordinated. my addition to this has been to incorporate something alumni related from my alma mater, ideally from the graduate school. i make sure my makeup is simple but still covers any blemishes or uneven skin. Iâve gone in without makeup before and thereâs a marked difference in treatment
exaggerating your symptoms is a requirement but never try to âplay sickâ. when they ask you about your symptoms exaggerate the severity, duration, AND number of reoccurrences. most people only exaggerate the severity and doctors are looking for a reason to say itâs a one time thing so donât forget to tell them itâs been going on a long time and occurs frequently. remember when you were a kid and tried to play sick? dont do that. keep your tone subdued and talk firmly but never loudly. no need to fake cough or suddenly grab your arm in pain, just report your symptoms and keep it consistent. sudden fake outbursts get you nowhere but do not be afraid to show your natural pain response. feel sick? throw up. dr or nurse poked you? flinch, guard that part of you, cry, etc. hiding or playing tough is a great way to get sent home with no help
demand a new doctor/nurse/tech and donât back down. someone treating you poorly? make direct eye contact and firmly (but calmly) state that you need to be given a new healthcare provider immediately. keep asking until you get one or request their supervisor
âI wasnât born to make sense.â
â Alice Notley, from Eurynomeâs Sandals: Poems; âMy City,â c. April 2019
Where are they now:
Hi, itâs me. Itâs been far too long since Iâve caught yâall up on my life. My bio is a lie, Iâm years older than 21 now. My man Scott and I have had our fair share of issues and still run into hiccups, occasionally.
I got my associates. Treated myself to a ten day trip to Asia. Took a year off between my associates and a university. Worked my ass off. Iâm at a university that I love. Double majoring.
Scott and I arenât official anymore, though we still hangout often and are each otherâs designated plus 1. But Iâm also dating another person. The term âdatingâ is a lot more serious than what this is with the other guy, heâs about two decades older than I am. Retired. No children. Wealthy.
Iâm young and testing waters. Idk whoâs here keeping tabs, but I love youâ thank you. Stay blessed.
it takes years to develop your craft. do not romanticize the idea of an âovernight successâ. be a student. grow organically. get really good. hate your work. start over. find new ways to express the same ideas. the student becomes the master. your time will come.
we all write essays that need sources like 5 seconds before itâs due so here is my #1 tip that i havenât been called out for yet in my 3 years of collegeÂ
writing a paper on alexander the great but couldnât be bothered to look at more than the wikipedia page? WELLÂ
GO to the wikipedia page and find a fact that youâd like to incorporateâŚ
coooool honor and glory so Manly⢠ANYWAYSÂ
see that little circled 169? click it and itâll take you HERE:Â
so with this one youâll get not one, but two sources. that GIVE YOU PAGE NUMBERS. mla in-text citations? done. just paraphrase the fact, and add ââŚâ(Green 5).Â
but we need the full thing, donât we? go here by clicking on the hyperlink -
and thatâs all the info you need! now google to find the exact book and more up-to-date accurate info you need for your works cited and, maybe, find a pdf online or a copy in your library.Â
BUT THATâS NOT ALL. for this example it doesnât work, because the page this specific fact is on is not available in the way iâm gonna show you, but oh well.Â
you couldâve clicked on âRoisman and Worthington 2010, p. 190,â whichâll take you here:Â
scroll down aaaaaandÂ
see those blue links? those are available chapters of the book! for free! right at your fingertips! no need to get up and run to your library, or stress out that you canât find the book online. google books has TONS of resources.
at the bottom of a wikipedia article, the sources are categorized into primary and secondary sources as well, in case you need to fill a specific source type requirement.Â
you can do this with anything. iâve done it with audrey hepburn (my school library had no books/articles of use), world war ii, the hebrews in the old testamentâŚliterally, anything. as a disclaimer, this probs isnât 100% foolproof, but none of my professors have caught on. and in a pinch, it works better than scanning an entire book or article for a fact you need. đŤ The Main Signs of a Spiritual Awakening đŤ
The majority of people are not fully aware of how truly difficult and confusing a spiritual awakening can be. It is not beautiful in the beginning.. As with all transformations, the first steps deal with endings and destruction. We are constantly lead to experience challenges, changes, and forces of nature that completely strip apart our attachments to the material world without even realizing it is happening. Every time our ego fights back, we are met with karmic patterns of the lesson the universe, or higher power, is attempting to teach us. It is important to remember that we are souls inhabiting human bodies.Â
Our energy is ever lasting but this material world we know is not promised a forever. We are constantly working towards spiritual growth and evolution. A spiritual awakening occurs when you realize there is more to life than earthly desires. There is more to us than our attachments, our ego, and our material possessions. Once you realize this, things begin to change, as you will perceive the world in an entirely different way than you did before. At first, you will feel overwhelmed and confused. A lot of people remain in the beginning phases of a spiritual awakening out of fear. Listed below are the major signs you are experiencing an awakening of the soul. The first sign listed is typically the first experience you will have but everything else will not necessarily come to you in any particular order.
1. Karmic Patterns, Meaningful Coincidences, Number Sequences, Repetitive Dreams, Symbols or Signs â¨
The very first thing a person experiences is some form of cosmic pattern or sequence. You will âfeelâ as though you are being targeted for some sort of message. Whatever repetitive situation you are experiencing serves as your main lesson at the time and you must pay attention to what is happening to you while you witness the signs. This can come in the form of similar toxic relationships or engaging with the same negative people one after another, seeing the same numbers on a clock or other object often (1:11, 1:23, etc), having the same dream frequently, seeing animals, objects, or hearing the same phrases or words over and over again.
2. Realization of the Ego, Acknowledging Mistakes, Confronting Your Personal Demons, Toxic Habits, and Wrongdoings â¨
This is likely one of the most challenging phases to overcome - the ego itself. Often, when we know we have done something wrong, we will strive to ignore it or refuse to take accountability altogether. When going through an awakening, you will feel the urge to fix your mistakes and grant closure to those you have harmed in any way. You will feel genuine remorse for your wrongdoings and look to confront the people you have hurt in order to provide them with closure and to provide yourself with growth. You will feel called to apologize, make amends, and move along. Doing this will allow you to let go of the burdens and toxic habits holding you down. Whether or not these people choose to forgive you is up to them and them alone, but it is the fact that you owned up to your toxicity that matters. This is you letting go of your ego and allowing your spirit to take over you. Your âtrueâ self is taking form now.
3. New Perspective, Epiphanies, Altered Outlook â¨
As you begin to see the world, and yourself, in a different light, everything becomes brand new to you. Everything will seem much more vivid, lively, and detailed. You will find yourself paying attention to things you never would have given a second glance before your awakening. You will find interests in new topics, projects, people, and places you never thought to engage in. Those around you will be shocked at your change in character - with some people encouraging and congratulating your transition, while others will be envious and spiteful of you. Let the behavior of others serve as a message to you about who they are.
4. Relationship Changes, Disconnection With Society, Endings â¨
One of the very first experiences you will through in a spiritual awakening is the realization that the personified ego projected from each individual is not a true reflection of who they are.. Once you realize this for yourself, you will begin to see the toxicity and the attachments other people possess - influencing you to disconnect from them if you feel they do not carry the same vibration as you. How they react to your distance and your separation from them shows you who they truly are inside and you will often find that your assumptions about them were correct. You will realize just how wrong certain people were for you and what lessons they were called to teach you through their behaviors. This is your intuition and your soul opening up and expanding. Your soul is no longer being weighed down by human egotism - instead it is moving along.
5. Enhanced Intuition, Empathy, and Compassion â¨
Your dreams will begin to present you with predictions and future happenings. Your heart and mind will start to tell you about certain people, places, and situations as though your heart and mind know things before they should. You will be able to âfeelâ or sense the emotions of others before you even see them or speak a word to them. You will feel much more connected to nature, to earth, and to humanity. Its need for healing and light becomes your focus. There is no longer a separation between you and others, as your ego is now fading or completely gone - you will feel as though you are one with every living thing.Â
6. Decreased / Lacking Fear of Death â¨
As you go through the transition of your awakening, you will not see death as the end for you. You will have come to realize that death is just the beginning, as energy can neither be created nor destroyed. You know your soul will stand the tests of Father Time and cycle through the universe again and again in different forms. You will realize that everyone you have lost is not truly gone - they are with you forever and you are forever with them.. floating through this universe and its energies for eternity.Â
7. Increased Self-Care, Routines, and Lifestyle Changes, Appreciation for the Physical Body â¨
Though your attachment to your human form will decrease, you know it is still important to take care of the body you are holding. You will go through diet changes, improved skin care and health care routines, and you will appreciate and cherish the body you inhabit for all that it is. The flaws you once saw will rarely hold importance to you now. You know that what truly matters is what is on the inside and that anyone who truly cares for you will not pay attention to your physical appearance. You will be grateful to experience a new perception of life.
8. Positive Relationship with Self and Others â¨
As you grow and prosper, you will engage with like-minded individuals who serve to continue expanding and evolving with you instead of working against you. This does not mean you will be completely free from toxic people; being empathetic and spiritually involved, you will constantly attract individuals who want to suck out your energy and light. The positive relationships in your life will help protect you from negative people and keep you from straying away from your spiritual journey.
9. Tests, Challenges, Delays â¨
To ensure you are on the correct path, the universe, or the higher power, will constantly produce tests for you to ace. These tests can come in the form of ex friends or lovers resurfacing, sudden disappointments or setbacks, as well as losses, separations, or mental / emotional attacks that challenge your body and soul. As you overcome these issues, you will grow stronger, wiser, and more resilient to the negativity and evil of the world.
10. Creativity, Attraction to Art, Metaphysics, and Ancient Practices â¨
You will feel inclined to express the energies, emotions, and lessons you are receiving through creative outlets such as drawing, painting, writing, crafting, singing, dancing, etc. Creativity is one of the most unique and expressive ways to share your voice and your passions with the world, after all. You will also feel drawn to the energies that earth has to offer - through its plants, flowers, crystals, fossils, celestial bodies, and elements. This may lead you to indulge in divination tools, astrology, meditation, and spiritual healing through metaphysical means. These methods are only useful to your spiritual body - be sure to continue relying on the proper medicine and healing needed for your physical body, as well.
Little things you can do to upgrade your life
Sit up straight
Walk confidently
Speak slowly and donât use slang, incorporate new vocabulary.
Think before you speak. Is that TMI? Is that negative? Words are powerful, use them wisely
When someone gives you a compliment, always accept it with a âthank youâ even if you disagree
Compliment strangers
Drink a cup of warm water when you wake. It has the same effect as lemon water but itâs better for your teeth
Aim to drink 2L of water a day.
If you drink 30 min before your meal you will eat less. Donât drink any liquids while you eat or until 30 min after your meal, itâs better for your digestion
Want a flat stomach? Donât eat anything 4 hours before bed and only eat the size of your fist in carbs per day
Practice mindfulness, notice when your mind wanders and bring your attention back to the present
Meditate 5 min every morning or in bed at night
Charge your phone in the living room at night so youâre not tempted to look at it before bed or first thing in the morning. Plus, youâll have to get up to turn the alarm off so you wonât snooze
Make your bed every morning
Clutter is mentally toxic, keep only what you need and keep it tidy
Aim to only clean your home for 5 minutes a day. Youâll probably end up doing more. This trick works for anything you donât want to do
When shopping, donât buy things the same day. If you still want them after a few days, go back
Always do your best. Always
Forget motivation. Count from 5 to 1 if you need to do something you donât want to. It tricks your brain. You can also focus on how youâll feel once youâve completed the task instead of thinking of the task itself.
Buy fresh flowers for your home.
Pamper yourself. You can do it yourself at home
Get massages. You can get Groupons
Always have manicured nails and toes. Sèche Vite top coat is a must!
Buy nice pyjamas and lounge wear. Look good for yourself.
Listen to classical music when you study and when you clean your home
Listen to music when you drive. While others will be road raging, youâll be too busy vibing to notice
Use the 50/30/20 rule for your finances. 50% on living expenses, 30% on entertainment and shopping and 20% in savings
Take advantage of banks offering money to open new accounts
Have an emergency fund: 3-6 months worth of living expenses in a high interest savings account
Celebrate every time you get money whether itâs in interest, pay checks or even money you find on the floor. You can just do a little dance. Youâll attract more wealth.
Leave money around your house. It will be a reminder that money is abundant.
Watch only 1h of TV a day and no reality TV
Donât read gossip magazines/blogs.
Get a library card and read at least one book a month.
Cut out toxic people. If you canât, try not to be around them as much
Socialize with loved ones a bit everyday even if itâs just a phone call. Itâs good for morale
Treat everyone with respect. If someone disrespects you, know that itâs got nothing to do with you and everything to do with them and donât get caught up in it, keep your composure, youâre better than that
Take up a hobby or two, youâll be a more interesting, well-rounded person
Listen to podcasts
Try only changing one thing at a time. 3 months of consistency doesnât mean youâre out of the woods, but itâs the foundation. Donât be too hard on yourself when you stray. Habits youâve had for 20-30-40 years will not be easy to change. Baby steps ;)
WAYS TO CLEANSE YOUR ROOM/SPACE WITHOUT BURNING ANYTHING
Some of us have breathing issues or parents/roommates who canât be around burning stuff, and some people (like me) just have parents/roommates who donât like the ashes and such left soâŚ
1. Clean! And I mean really clean. Take all those dirty dishes back to the kitchen, take that rotting banana out of your unused backpack (Iâm looking at myself there), do your laundry, and then really get in there! Dust, vacuum, do whatever you gotta do.
2. Open your windows during the rain! (Make sure you set up some plastic or such so you donât get everything wet) I just really love the rain and thereâs something so cleansing about it.
3. Get a essential oil diffuser!! I love these, and you can find oils at almost every grocery store just in case you donât have a local witchy shop. Most of mine are from Wal-mart! (Remember that some oils are not for consumption or skin contact if theyâre cheaper. Always read the backs before using them in those ways).
4. Meditate in the center of your space and really visualize all of the bad leaving and washing away. Use crystals if you like! Leave your room filled with bright, beautiful and uplifting energy :)
5. Perform! Read a piece of poetry or prose you love out loud. Give a little concert in your room for just your dog and stuffed animals! Dance your heart out. Just do something that helps you vent in a creative and constructive way! It leaves you and the space around you feeling lighter.
Feel free to add on!
once you stop fantasizing about that ideal version of yourself and start working towards becoming that person by setting your alarm clock earlier and actually going to the gym and actually volunteering at places and actually eating healthier and not procrastinating and working just a little bit harder youâll realize that it was so easy all along. becoming your ideal self will only ever exist in your mind until you make the decision to work towards becoming that person. get up!! get going!! itâs now or never!! there is no light at the end of the tunnel!! get that flashlight and pave your own path bitch bc no one else is going to do it for u!!
Being a good person is a choice. Donât let people fool you into believing that truly good people never have bad thoughts, are never tempted by the easier path, by the low road, never mess up or act out selfishly. Never believe a person can be good without making a conscious effort.
Every single time you do something good, youâve made a decision to make the world a little brighter.
Goodness is not an inherent trait, it is a choice. Keep making it! I see you, Iâm proud of you, and Iâm rooting for you!
itâs not about wanting to see signs everywhere, but understanding that there are many different types of language. how many times life has talked to me without words
Different Strokes?
I think I left the teller at the bank genuinely disturbed when I told him that âIf I canât afford it, I just donât buy it.â âWhat about a car? Do you drive a car?â he inquired, his voice toning on the edge of fear.  I told him, âYeah, I have a vehicle. I bought it used for under $3,000.â He looked physically pained. âWhat about if you want to buy some kind of new appliance? Or furniture?â he persisted. I stared at him blankly. âMy couch was $5.00 at Goodwill. LikeâŚI just buy shit cheap or I donât buy it at all. The only thing in my life that I make payments on is my house, my bills, and my insurance, and thatâs split five ways because I have housemates.â The young man looked horrified? Appalled? And somehow also awed? This guy couldnât have been much older than me. But it seemed that heâd never even considered the option before of saving up for something to purchase it outright instead of using a credit card. Am I the only person in my general age group (just turned 26) whoâs never owned a credit card, and who has forgone basic comforts in order to save up for items so you donât owe money to anyone, like, ever?Â
If youâre living in the US without a credit card at 26, youâre playing with danger.
No credit is viewed as the same as bad credit. Which means you could be denied if you ever do need to rent an apartment or a car. Hospitals and clinics are also less likely to allow payment plan programs for people without good credit.
The best thing you could do at this point is apply for a credit card youâre eligible for and pay a few things (I do gas and groceries myself) with it each month. As long as you keep it to zero balance each month there is no interest and there will be proof of you not having debt (instead of just the absence of debt).
what.
This is legit how it works. The system requires records on you, or else. So you need a credit card and worse, you need to have a record of using it, even if you pay it off every single month. Unfortunately, the formulas used to determine credit score are secret, so we also have people suggesting that your credit rating is helped if every so often you do pay a bit of interest. The whole thing is a complete mess. If you donât have a credit rating/history, then any loans you manage to get will be at extremely high interest and will require much more effort than they really should.
yeaah let me just go get a card that i canât pay off because capitalism is shit, even if i literally only buy a pack of gum thatâd go well
If you pay it off in full every month there is no interest. Do what OP is doing but put some of that on your credit card and pay it off every month, and soon you will have a very good credit rating.
you skipped right the fuck over the âcanât pay it offâ part huh like credit cards are just not a viable thing if youâre poor and have shit income
And Iâm saying to literally not put anything on it if you canât buy it in cash. And Iâm aware that they fuck over poor people, but yeah, thatâs the system thatâs in place. This is advice for navigating it, which is how to obtain good credit which helps a lot.
Right like donât make minimum payments, put your gas on your credit card then that same day pay the credit card company online then donât worry about it for another month. Itâs an absolutely shit system, but in the event of an emergency itâs good to have.
I have had to explain this to a lot of people in my life, but itâs true- no credit is the same as bad credit. What having (and using) the card actually shows is that you are capable of (and actually follow through on) making regular payments: ie, it is proof of having a steady income (even if you do not actually have a steady income). It is showing you reliably can pay for things you purchase, which is what your credit score is all about.
Think of it this way. You have a credit card, which is your credit tracking device. You use the card to tell someone âI will pay for this thing with borrowed money.â They agree to allow you to pay with borrowed money. You then turn around to your credit card company and say âThank you for allowing me to borrow your money, I will now pay you back with my own money.â (which, if you repay them promptly enough, you can repay them the exact same amount you borrowed, rather than paying them more than you borrowed [which is what interest is])
The credit card company then recognizes that you successfully borrowed their money AND returned it safely, and they pass that information along to credit tracking companies. Each time you do this, you gain credibility. If you do this enough times, you are considered a credible borrower of money, so that if you ever are in a situation where you need to borrow a large sum of money (for example, a mortgage or a car or a hospital bill or whatever), companies with money will look at how well you have returned money in the past, and say Ah yes, this person repays their debts well, so we can lend them our money this time.
So like, do what the above folks are recommending. Get a credit card and use to to reasonably purchase things you already have to buy- put a batch of groceries on the card. Go home (or wherever you can use the interne), pay it off as if you had paid cash in the store for it. There is no extra fee or interest for doing this, and you are leveling up your credibility in case of emergency later on in life.
Ok, hereâs a guide for the easiest way to do this.
1. get your first baby credit card with the bank that you already bank with. If it has cashback rewards, even better (thatâll be free money later).
2. set that shit up so it pays the full amount, automatically, every month. you donât have to remember to go home and pay it off, or worry about it at all. You wonât pay interest.
Your first card, especially if you have no credit, is going to have a small limit. Like $500. This is important: credit companies want you to use a certain percentage of the card every month. This is 1-9%. I usually just go straight 5%. If you use too much, you look like a wild card (even if you pay it off every month) and if you use nothing than youâre not proving to them you can be trusted.
So your first card has a $500 limit. 5% of 500 is $25.
Your goal is to use $25/month.
This is about a tank of gas for me. So once a month, I would fill up with this card, and then put it in the back of my wallet until next month. The payment was made automatically by my bank from one account (debit) to the other (credit). Rinse and repeat. I did this for a year.
Then after a year, my credit had skyrocketed (because I had nothing before, and added this good habit for a year). So I called up my bank and asked for them to increase my limit based on my new credit. I had shown them I was good at borrowing a good amount of money and paying it back on time every time.
The bank increased my limit to $5,500. Like holy shit, at the time I was definitely not expecting that.
So new math. 5% of 5500 is $225. So now instead of gas, I put my cell phone bill ($50), my car insurance ($130), and my dog food automatic order ($40) on it.
The best part is everything is automatic. I keep this card in the back of my wallet permanently; all these bills and the automatic payments are, well, automatic. My credit goes up, I rack up cash back rewards, thereâs nothing to it.
And, if I ever get in an emergency, like a vet bill for one of my dogs, I can use that card to pay the $3,000 emergency bill without worrying about whether the place will take my dog if I have no money. I can then go home, change the settings from âpay in full every monthâ to âpay $X every monthâ (more than the minimum!) until itâs paid off, and then go back to just my bills. My credit might take a little dip during that time, but will bounce back pretty quickly.
Thereâs several other factors to credit (hit me up if you want more info) but this was literally the only measure I took for my first year, and my credit went from 525 to 700 in a year. Another year later, Iâm now at 753, have a mortgage with a great rate, and can get a monster ass loan if I really need it in case an emergency or hard times fall.
Itâs a shitty system of hoops to jump through, but knowing you can use these measures if it comes to it is a good feeling.
Okay but literally read this entire post please!
Take it from someone who was taught that credit cards are evil, you NEED to build up some credit.Â
Iâm 32 and only JUST NOW able to get a card because my fiance helped me do so. I could not get approved before because I didnât have any credit.
Other options for building credit: unsecured or âsignatureâ loans from a credit union. These are small amount loans that do not have collateral (aside from your âgood name,â hence the name) . Take a small loan out ($500 is enough) and pay it back before its due and tada! Youâve gone a long way towards proving youâre not a credit risk.
âBut I canât afford $500!â you lament.
YOU DONâT SPEND THE MONEY, YA DINGLEBERRY.
12 Little Known Laws Of Karma That Will Change Your Life
What is Karma? Karma is the Sanskrit word for action. It is equivalent to Newtonâs law of âevery action must have a reactionâ. When we think, speak or act we initiate a force that will react accordingly. This returning force maybe modified, changed or suspended, but most people will not be able eradicate it.
This law of cause and effect is not punishment, but is wholly for the sake of education or learning.
A person may not escape the consequences of his actions, but he will suffer only if he himself has made the conditions ripe for his suffering. Ignorance of the law is no excuse whether the laws are man-made or universal. To stop being afraid and to start being empowered in the worlds of karma and reincarnation, here is what you need to know about karmic laws.
1. THE GREAT LAW
â âAs you sow, so shall you reapâ. This is also known as the âLaw of Cause and Effectâ. â Whatever we put out in the Universe is what comes back to us. â If what we want is Happiness, Peace, Love, Friendship⌠Then we should BE Happy, Peaceful, Loving and a True Friend.
2. THE LAW OF CREATION
â Life doesnât just HAPPEN, it requires our participation. â We are one with the Universe, both inside and out. â Whatever surrounds us gives us clues to our inner state. â BE yourself, and surround yourself with what you want to have present in your Life.
3. THE LAW OF HUMILITY
â What you refuse to accept, will continue for you. â If what we see is an enemy, or someone with a character trait that we find to be negative, then we ourselves are not focused on a higher level of existence.
4. THE LAW OF GROWTH
â âWherever you go, there you areâ. â For us to GROW in Spirit, it is we who must change â and not the people, places or things around us. â The only given we have in our lives is OURSELVES and that is the only factor we have control over. â When we change who and what we are within our heart our life follows suit and changes too.
5. THE LAW OF RESPONSIBILITY
â Whenever there is something wrong in my life, there is something wrong in me. â We mirror what surrounds us â and what surrounds us mirrors us; this is a Universal Truth. â We must take responsibility what is in our life.
6.THE LAW OF CONNECTION
â Even if something we do seems inconsequential, it is very important that it gets done as everything in the Universe is connected. â Each step leads to the next step, and so forth and so on. â Someone must do the initial work to get a job done. â Neither the first step nor the last are of greater significance, â As they were both needed to accomplish the task. â Past-Present-Future they are all connectedâŚ
7. THE LAW OF FOCUS
â You can not think of two things at the same time. â When our focus is on Spiritual Values, it is impossible for us to have lower thoughts such as greed or anger.
8. THE LAW OF GIVING AND HOSPITALITY
â If you believe something to be true, then sometime in your life you will be called upon to demonstrate that particular truth. â Here is where we put what we CLAIM that we have learned, into actual
9. PRACTICE. THE LAW OF HERE AND NOW
â Looking backward to examine what was, prevents us from being totally in the HERE AND NOW. â Old thoughts, old patterns of behavior, old dreams⌠â Prevent us from having new ones.
10. THE LAW OF CHANGE
â History repeats itself until we learn the lessons that we need to change our path.
11. THE LAW OF PATIENCE AND REWARD
â All Rewards require initial toil. â Rewards of lasting value require patient and persistent toil. â True joy follows doing what weâre suppose to be doing, and waiting for the reward to come in on its own time.
12. THE LAW OF SIGNIFICANCE AND INSPIRATION
â You get back from something whatever YOU have put into it. â The true value of something is a direct result of the energy and intent that is put into it. â Every personal contribution is also a contribution to the Whole. â Lack luster contributions have no impact on the Whole, nor do they work to diminish it. â Loving contributions bring life to, and inspire, the Whole.
