Tony Awards Flashback
At the 46th Annual Tony Awards, held at the Gershwin Theatre on May 31, 1992, the fabulous Gregory Hines won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for playing Jelly Roll Morton in Jellyâs Last Jam. On the show, Hines and the cast of Jellyâs Last Jam performed the number âThatâs How You Jazz.â
Hines is one of the most celebrated tap dancers of all time and starred in more than 40 films and on Broadway. He received many accolades, including a Daytime Emmy Award, a Drama Desk Award, and a Tony Award, as well as nominations for a Screen Actors Guild Award and four Primetime Emmy Awards. Hines died of liver cancer on August 9, 2003 at the age of 57.

I have to give credit to the 1985 movie "White Nights" for casting the whole movie around two of the best dancers in existence--Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines. I honestly wasn't expecting moments where they got a laugh out of me...
...or for them to hit me in the feels with a few dramatic moments...
...not to mention the unbelievable chemistry with their respective love interests (Helen Mirren and Isabella Rossellini)...
...but the real magic happened when they got to do what they do best with each other.
It kinda sucks that hardly anybody is aware of this movie's existence and the only glory for it came for a song that played at the end credits [even though the song is equally awesome]. I just wanted to shine a spotlight on the movie for a moment
Reposted from @pbsgreatperformances In 1989, legendary tap dancer Gregory Hines brought together masters in tap dance of the time to celebrate the art of tap in
i simply don't think that these mob bosses hatefucking each other would use the traffic light system
I can gif that scene over and over and still not get tired of noticing every little detail. Shane's lips, wet with Ilya's spit. Ilya lifting Shane's head up to look in his eyes one more time. The way Ilya takes Shane out of being kiss-drunk with a slap to his cheek. The way Shane double-checks that Ilya's gone before wiping the tear away. The twitch in Shane's jaw as he tries to get himself together.

This story is truly one of the most unique fics I have ever read! It is an absolute masterclass in temporal storytelling where one point of view moves forward in time while the other moves backwards...
The US government has officially declared âradical pro-transgender groupsâ to be domestic terrorist organizations. This will certain remain for the duration of this administration, and may hold into the next.
This opens the door for not only the targeting of trans individuals, but also trans communities, the broader queer community, and even allies and family members of transgender people.
Everyone, be safe. Look out for each other. Cherish small wins, and moments of joy.
Surviving is more than grand acts of defiance. Living is in the small, the everyday, the imperceptible. Living is holding a hand, or being kindâ little things that you donât remember the day after. Love each other, and love yourself in equal measure. Tyrants are brittle things. Never has a dark time failed to end.
And before anyone accuses me of overreacting, let me be clear. The last line of the Presidential Foreword in the new policy document literally reads, âWe will find you and we will kill you.â

"In addition to cartels and Islamist terror groups, our national CT activities will also prioritize the rapid identification and neutralization of violent secular political groups whose ideology is anti-American, radically pro-transgender, and anarchist." (Page 7)

Tumblr did not âGoncharovâ Poob. Poob is Glupp Shittoing Tubi/Pluto/Roku Channel/Hulu/etc.
none of these words are in the bible. or the dictionary, for that matter.
#While this is a joke#For the etymologists out there#Tumblr did not âgoncharovâ poob#translation: Tumblr is not making a fictitious thing called poob that we insist is real#Poob is glup shittoing (streaming services)#Translation: Poob is now a generic name for whatever streaming platform is out there when you don't feel like naming something specifically
Etymologists are on Tumblr for the same reason Primatologists are out in the jungle: It's where the Monkeys are.

Fun Story to Share.
I got my (now 18-year-old) daughter into Ao3 back in 2021. I taught her she should always comment - even if the fic looks old or abandoned or whatever. She did.
Well - she got this email this morning:
The fic was written in 2014 and essentially abandoned.
Bethy read and reviewed in 2021 (and was actually the only person who had commented at all).
Today in 2025 - the final chapter was posted by the author and this was her reply to Bethyâs comment.

Never question whether a fic is too old to comment on.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. We need a "This is absolutely NOT mature content" feedback button on posts. You can report a post as missing a community label. We should also be able to report posts as having a community label when they dont fucking need one.
