Dionaea muscipula. Also known as the Venus Fly Trap. They are well known for being carnivorous plants that use sweet nectar and pretty leaves to attract prey. The venus fly trap uses its inviting jaws to trap and crush their prey. The more they squirm, the more they fight, the tighter hold gets. “Those aren’t exactly comparable. The fat that’s on meats and the fats within sweets are on two completely different ends of the spectrum. You’ve def caught me in the middle because I do indeed enjoy a good snoball AND chicken. Chicken is actually my favorite meat, actually.”

But that was getting into a whole other conversation. 

“Well, there are still days I don’t like my fat very much. Society has really driven it into our heads that in order to be conventionally pretty you need to be thin with a small waist and curves. But…I’m trying to appreciate my curves and all the bigger parts that come along with it!”

“I like to compare myself to things like…marshmallows or pillows. The bigger and fluffier they are, the better they are! It makes me very soft and huggable.”

There were different kinds of fats?  Ula takes a mental note.  Oh, how much there still remained for her to learn! How exciting.  A small part of her hopes that Dumpling doesn’t find her to be an idiot, but the larger part of her sweeps the worry away.  “Understanding the make-up of food sounds complicated.” She hums softly.  “I think I will stick to just enjoying the taste of them.” 

Ula continues to soak up every word that leaves Dumpling’s mouth.  Her days of confidence, her struggles, her fun comparisons of squishy objects to her body’s shape.  Ula admires the young woman for being so candid with her thoughts about the world and how she fits in it. Ula had met very few humans that were so open and honest.  It was nice, really— There was less to be confused about when someone is so forthcoming. 

“I admire your sincerity.  It makes it easier for me to converse with you.  I think sometimes people are dishonest or trivial when they speak to me and it is hard for me to follow. I wonder if they think I’m stupid.”  That last statement about her intelligence is said quite plainly.  “Anyway. . What is your name? I know it cannot really be Dumpling.”

“—So you have both an Alolan Raichu and a Kantonian Raichu?” Research Ula asks with great interest.  She leans against the counter ( and probably shouldn’t be— Shouldn’t she go sit down somewhere in the bakery? ) eyes glued to the teen girl busying herself with a hand mixer.  “How does that shape their interactions? I'd imagine it could be frightening to see one of your species morph into something unknown.” A small smile grows on her dreamy expression.  “Or exciting.”

Meanwhile, Ula’s partner, a Johtoan Corsola named Cream Puff, teeters back in forth on the floor in delight as she watches the Alolan Raichu zoom about on its tail. 

“Cream Puff, do you want a pancake?”  A pause.

“I’m sure you had a very good reason for that fire.” ..Says @aaternum​ ‘s Ryu, selected from this starter pack.                  Accepting!! 

“Perhaps.” Ula responds after a moment of pondering.  “But I should have planned for an outcome different than the one I had anticipated.” There’s a glumness to her voice that isn’t often there. 

The space alien’s heart breaks as she douses the small fire she created with water form an elephant-shaped watering can, sad eyes lingering on the charred grass that surfaced beneath the steaming liquid. She did that.  She hurt the grass. The boy scout hadn’t mentioned that she should create a fire ring from rocks prior to avoid the spreading of the flames.  Thankfully, she had an affinity for water, and the fire was contained before any real damage had been done. 

But still, the grass. . 

“I feel badly for the grass.  I wasn’t careful enough and now it is dead.” Sure, there was tons of grass everywhere, but what sort of creatures made their home in this patch?  “I hope that the organisms that lived in this patch escaped in time. Perhaps I can grow them a new patch.”

vanitas certainly has a way of inadvertently making himself the center of attention. everything about him is eye-catching: from the dramatic, "fashionable" (if one could call it such...) attire, to the boisterous (and perhaps a bit forced) laughter while he makes idle conversation with others in the cafe. whatever he's doing, it's working; he's now on his second cup of tea, and he hasn't paid for either.

(it's not like he gets compensated well --- or at all, really --- for his particular brand of work; if a man wants good tea, a man's got to grease some palms....)

and so, don't mind him if he helps himself to a seat right... here; it's not like somebody being a complete stranger has ever really been a deterrent to him striking up a conversation when he's in a more pleasant mood (which, today, he is --- remarkably enough.)

"bonjour, mademoiselle! have you tried the earl grey? it's quite good!"

Truth be told, she’d been watching the flamboyant man from afar for quite awhile.  Oh, how good he was at charming others! Oh, how pleasant his laugh was and how skilled he was at getting people to buy him treats.  Amazing, a wonderful life-lesson for Ula indeed! Every so often she pauses in her observation to scrawl something in her notebook. The most recent entry: Practice laughing face in mirror. 

Of course, the notebook is hastily put away as he approaches. Ula finds her heart skipping a beat and her fingers dive into her pocket in search of money.  She had to buy him tea— Everyone else was! 

Ula digs more fervently at the mention of Earl Grey.  Who was this ‘Earl Grey’? A friend of this alluring stranger? “I don’t think I’ve met Earl.”  Ula states in a dreamy-sounding voice. “But I will buy him a cup of tea, too.”  If he glanced into her cup, he’d notice she’s drinking. . Warm water?? 

“Is Earl Grey a friend of yours?”

So. Um.  I made a Carrd for my grim reaper OC.  A bit of info: 

Her name is Lilith. Lilith was originally born in the 1650s in Salem, MA. She’s conceited and obsessed with her beauty, but a house fire leaves her with severe burns and she finds herself to be ugly. She sells her soul to ol’ Satan. He requests she becomes a reaper– Go collect souls for him of the worst sinners. She does. She moonlight’s as dom/inatrix because the money is good and because it is nice to see people live their true fantasies (sexual or non? Bc bd/sm isn’t always sexual) when she cannot– Because she’s a soulless person that will probably never be fully satisfied by anything ever.

So.  Idk if I’ll make a blog or not. I want to.  But I guess I am curious about interest first.

    The sound of his bare feet came to an abrupt halt upon seeing someone clearly out of place in the sacred gardens – the chill of the marble tiles seeping into his skin. Placing a hand on his hip, he sighed deeply and stared down at them from the top of the stairs with half-lidded eyes. Idiotic creatures.

    “Didn’t your village get the memo? I don’t need your damn sacrifices anymore. Nature should be thriving enough for your pathetic species to get by. Go home.” Not that he expected them to know how to leave the Heavens. He wished for nothing more than to find a particularly thick tree and doze until one of his siblings came running with some work to do – not deal with this.

    Raythe started back down the path before stopping once more and looking over his shoulder at them. “Actually… on second thought, how did you get up here in the first place?” They looked fairly untouched for a godly sacrifice and they weren’t wearing traditional garb or carrying an offering. He spun on his heels, furrowed his brows, and tied his arms across his chest. Suspicious… “Are you a sacrifice for one of my siblings, by chance?”

Ula lifts her hand from the luscious garden’s sparkling pond, uttering a soft “goodbye” to the fish she’d been speaking with.  She turns to face the man who was barking at her. She blinks slowly at him, only half-way listening to what he was saying— The conversation she’d been having with the fish was still swimming around in her brain, you see. 

“Hello!” She calls in a whimsical tone, offering a little wave.  He looked human.  But he was well away from Earth.  Perhaps he was one of the beings that humans often worshipped— Gods? 

Ula hums before continuing, finding his statement amusing. “Oh, I find myself in all sorts of places sometimes. Having a ship allows for that.”  

She steps a few steps closer to the staircase, arms coiling together behind her back.  “I wasn’t aiming for here, though, you know.  I ran out of fuel.” She continues nonchalantly.  “Are you a celestial being?”
