My favorite art is first sentences of scientific papers, I love reading sentences like "movement is of integral importance to animals" or "snow has long been recognised for its ecological importance" fuck yes so truee
"With genetic test results back from U.C. Davis Laboratories of toe-hair samples from each side of his body, I am excited to share that this sheep
🌟 IS INDEED a CHIMERA 🌟
His black mouflon side is a genetically different individual from his black gray side. The lab ran the test twice just to be sure!
Oh but wait, THERE IS MORE!
He is ALSO a she!
The black mouflon side is male.
The black gray side is female!
What I can tell you beyond these test results, is that this beautiful creature successfully bred four solid patterned ewes this winter that produced a total of 9 lambs, of which all were either solid pattern or mouflon pattern; 5 rams and 4 ewes. "

Initially I thought the zig zag between light and dark along the spine was just the lighting but no! That's the split in coat colours!

Happy birthday to Lyudmila Pavlichenko (born July 12, 1916), Soviet sniper in World War II, with 309 confirmed kills.
A true role model for today.
having a mutual who’s a good artist literally feels like beyonce saw me at a supermarket and decided to make me her best friend
*whispers* holy shit people are amazing.
building on the post I just reblogged from @eldritchbauble: I tag all of you to post your favourite mug!
as my studio friend Fire & Grace says, mugs are one of the most intimate pieces of pottery that we own. we hold them close. we handle them a lot more than a plate or bowl, and we bring them to our lips.
and hopefully we find moments to relax with them
so it doesn’t matter what kind, or where you got it, so long as you love it. reblog this, or make your own post and tag me in it, either way!
here's my favourite mug
it was wheel thrown for me by Fire & Grace and given to me as greenware, so I could paint and carve it, with a poem by Aaron O’Hanlon. I originally intended this mug to be for @subpar-lemon-bar but it turned into my favourite lol
(and here's the back)
My first mug —
I didn't know how to pull handles yet. The rim isn't smooth. The foot is shallow almost to the point of being non-existent. The kiln didn't reduce properly so the glaze ("purple haze") came out blue instead of purple.
But a potter's very first mug is always a special thing. Nothing beats drinking something from a mug you made yourself. Every sip reminds you that this is something you made. Where there was nothing before, now there is something; and it's currently full of tea; and you're using it. It is both a beautiful piece of artwork and a functional part of your daily life. And a tangible tie back to all the people from the past 30,000 years who also took raw clay out of the ground and formed it into something that made their lives better.
I can't believe this mug is nearly 20 years old now.
oh and that stack of bowls in the background? dirty dishes actually. they're there because I used them today and that's where they wait to be washed. but I made them too. and what's true about the mug is true about the bowls too. and the plates. and the jars. and the thousand tiny, lumpy ashtrays from year one that sit around the house holding paperclips and hair ties and loose change. it really never gets old.
My chicken mug, commissioned from @claypigeonpottery! Plus my teapot Charlotte in the background of the first pic and a couple of extra goodies in the foreground of the second Pic.
This is my best mug yet - wheel thrown cone 6 porcelain and All the Glazes. Just the right size 💕

Your artstyle is like your gut microbiome in the way its everything you consume and like and it also has all your bacteria up in it. Thats probably how that works
i'm getting ads for bacteria
"Why dont you post process videos"
This is what the glaze process looks like for me yall
