John and Paul's Holiday in Paris, 1961
John received £100 for his 21st birthday from his relatives in Scotland, which he spent on a trip to Paris with Paul. They set off on September 30th 1961, and Stuart Sutcliffe, who was living in Hamburg at the time, wrote, “Last night I heard that John and Paul have gone to Paris to play together - in other words, the band has broken up! It sounds mad to me, I don’t believe it." (According to the Anthology the other 2 Beatles, George and Pete, hadn’t known they were leaving, however, in a Mersey Beat article by Bill Harry, he said that George and Pete had been informed and that the trip had been planned beforehand. Make of it what you will.)
They got as far as Paris, hitchhiking and taking trains, intending to continue on to Spain, but deciding against it because it would mean that they’d have to work to pay their way there.
John & Paul in Paris
(Cute fact: That last picture is one Paul took of John sleeping in Paris. From what I remember of a performance he did of ‘Here Today’, and earlier comments, this picture hangs framed on a wall in Paul’s house. I would also like the point out that they shared a bed *ahem*McLennonwhat'sthatIhavenobias*ahem*. There’s only one bed pictured in their hotel room and Paul has often said that they shared a bed, e.g. such classics as, "We grew up literally in the same bed because when we were on holiday, hitchiking or whatever, we would share a bed." and, "I slept with John a million times." *ahem*noMcLennontoseeherenoneatall*ahem*)
Paul bought John a Hamburger for his birthday, a change, considering John was paying for everything, "He must have been fond of me to spend that money. He let me have all the banana milkshakes I wanted.” -Paul.
Whilst in Paris they met up with Jurgen Vollmer, a friend from Hamburg. He gave them their Beatle haircut, exactly like the one Astrid had given Stuart. (The cut didn’t go over too well when they got back to Liverpool, and both of them nearly cut it off.)
They returned 15 days later, on the 15th October.
How more blatant does this man have to get
part of why i’m so into the beatles is because genuinely they are the most entertaining celebrities to have ever existed. paul mccartney is addicted to lying. he is the unreliable narrator of his own story and often for absolutely no reason at all. john lennon would regularly crash out publicly and tell the press about it and then a year later be like “yeah i was actually full of shit that time i was just in a bad mood”. he tried to start gay rumours about himself in the early 70s and then was like “why are none of the gay men in underground gay clubs in 1973 telling the world about seeing me at underground gay clubs”. george harrison was so full of polite english rage it’s actually comical. he also participated in a 3 hour guitar battle with his best friend for his own wife’s honour. ringo has threatened the entire world with peace and love. they all acted exactly like i would if i was supermegafamous and it’s so fucking funny
pls feed us mclennon :((((
*blows off dust, starts coughing* here's something i drew a while back
this is my favorite mclennon tweet
The Beatles: Get Back (2021)
super old art in light of the finale! i drew these for my gomens zine but never posted them.
“we could have been us”
his voice rings in my mind,
echoing as the holiest chorus i knew.
my mind often visiting that quiet meadow
between the curves of his lips
and the rivers of my own shame.
each rosary bead slips through my fingers,
replaying shared moments as sacred rites.
father forgive me,
for i am trapped
between the discontent of my duty,
and the gnawing hunger of my desire.
yet even in my penance,
i still savor each stolen moment,
of when we made heaven on earth.

summary: It’s just to ensure Crowley’s doing it correctly, Aziraphale tells himself. To make sure he’s getting the miracles right. But Aziraphale finds that he can’t stop watching, through the centuries. Presently, Crowley catches him, and many, many truths come to light.

I said it back in 2023, but…
The kiss was Aziraphales “forbidden fruit”. The kiss showed him everything he could’ve ever wanted: a life with Crowley on earth, staying amongst the humans and keeping them safe, being free from shame and fear of heaven. Crowley, in an angels perspective, was doing exactly what he was supposed to, being a tempting serpent who leads the good and pure astray.
God, I hope the kiss is seen/described as sinful by one of the archangels, or even Crowley mockingly towards Aziraphale , I need that to happen so bad.
Oh. Oh. I am having a moment here.
The *screen ratio* changes when we go from one universe to another. Up until the epilogue, we watch everything in cinematic widescreen, with black bars on the top and bottom.
And then when we reach the epilogue, those bars... they go away. We've broken through.
Oh this is brilliant.
he's never been held before
