The twentieth drink of my book as a bev series is an iced oat thai tea latte topped with a spiced cold foam. With the inclusion of thai tea and two shots of espresso, don’t ask me how much caffeine is in this 😬 This bev is based on my brother’s hardcover copy of Dune by Frank Herbert with pretty blue sprayed edges.

The nineteenth drink of my book as a bev series is a hot and iced pumpkin spice latte made with oat milk. It’s topped with coconut whipped cream and cinnamon powder. This bev is based on my hardcover copy of Dr. Zhivago by Boris Pasternak.

Serving fall even though it’s almost summer, my first dual temp drink recipe. And it’s vegan! This specific hardcover is the International Collectors Library edition, and I was happy to have stumbled onto it as it's very pretty! This drink came out perfect! I gave it a 5 ⭐

I have not read this yet, but I’m hoping to eventually get to it and add to my goal of watching film adaptations of books this year. I know the movie stars Omar Sharif and we’re a household that were fans of his growing up!

The eighteenth drink of my book as a bev series is an iced matcha latte colored with spirulina and sweetened with maple butter, topped with a pumpkin cold foam. This bev is based on my paperback copy of Entwined by A. R. Bellendaine.

Pulling from another on my indie physical tbr, I was super happy with the color match. The spirulina doesn’t impact the flavor at all if anyone’s curious!

I think the pumpkin and maple could have been stronger overall, but I was a chicken when playing around with the ratios which is why I rated it the way I did, haha. All said, it was another tasty drink.

The seventeenth drink of my thirty day book as a bev series is an iced hojicha latte with ube cold foam based on my paperback edition of Forty-two Minutes by Janay Harden.

Felt crafty with the title since the fmc of the book is named Indigo and the drink is also indigo-ish 🙂‍↕️ Also referencing being on thin ice since the story starts off with Indigo in such a crazy scenario, lol.

Bought this novel during one of my indie hauls last year. Since it’s under 300 pgs, I’m hoping it’ll be just the kind of quick read to help me get out of my current reading slump.

As for the drink, the ube and hojicha worked well together! The milk was color matched with blue and green spirulina. I just bought the latter to diversify my beverage shade range and I’ve already started brainstorming how to use it next. The cold foam was a mix of condensed ube and ube powder to be more vibrant.

The sixteenth drink of my thirty day book as a bev series is a golden dark chocolate oat latte topped with a toasted marshmallow based on my paperback edition of Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I played around with a couple of names for this drink using other characters and terms from the book, like rocky or astro_, but couldn’t think of anything that encapsulated the flavors of the drink other than a mocha which is essentially what it is. So, the result is a relatively simple and straightforward drink and name. I used vegan marshmallows which could’ve affected the outcome of the toppers for this drink. They had a delicious crunch and resembled cookies in an attempt to incorporate a space/rock feel.

There were characters and parts of the story I loved so much, but there were also some bits that rubbed me the wrong way, so I’m split on what rating to give it. Planning to watch it this weekend.

The fifteenth drink of my thirty day book as a bev series - and official mid-way point - is a hot spiced chai latte with a whipped maple cream topped with freeze dried strawberries based on my hardback edition of A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.

For those unfamiliar with the setting of this tale, it takes place both in London and Paris during the time of the French Revolution. It has the iconic words of "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." in its opening quote. The full line is much, much longer, so I wont write it all out, haha. Since this drink is a hot chai, I attempted to tie it to the novel's backdrop in a direct way and translated it into French.

I’m usually a tea drinker so I didn’t have to reinvent anything here, it was my first time adding star anise and nutmeg and that definitely made it taste more authentically chai. Usually cinnamon, cardamon, ginger, and cloves are my go to. I’ve also never used maple butter/whipped maple before and why was it so delicious?

The fourteenth drink of my thirty day book as a bev series is an iced salted caramel latte with a vanilla honey cold foam based on my hardback edition of Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi.

Considering the premise of the story, I felt I had to go with a coffee based drink, haha. This was the first non-light novel or manga translated from Japanese that I read, and it was a quick read!

Because I like a challenge, I tried to get the color match by soaking butterfly pea flower tea and turmeric and it surprisingly worked out. Took a few iterations though, because I wasn’t satisfied with the first shade of blue.

The thirteenth drink of my thirty day book as a bev series is a red velvet oat Dalgona whipped coffee inspired by my paperback copy of Beloved by Toni Morrison. I love red velvet cake and anything red velvet flavored so this was a fun challenge for me to make a homemade sauce that captures that flavor whilst also suiting the book's cover.

Did anyone else have a whipped coffee phase during lockdown? I haven’t made one of these since then, but there was a time I was having this every day lol.

I love the simplicity of this cover. The crow with the subtle towers/skyline in the wings: perfection! I used all of the colors shown – which weren’t a lot, haha. I feel the final drink was a pretty accurate recreation.

The raspberry and sesame tasted nice together, it made me want to have a pastry of some kind with that flavor combination. This was a dense beverage so I didn’t rate it too highly even though I enjoyed it simply on the principle that I just get brain freezes easily, lol.

The eleventh drink of my thirty day book as a beverage series is an iced latte with banana oat milk and a blueberry cold foam. The colors were pulled from my paperback edition of We Hunt The Flame by Hafsah Faizal. The drink wasn’t too sweet and was a perfect balance of both fruits. It tasted like a baked loaf of banana bread with some blueberries in coffee form.

When I went to Seoul last year I had banana milk for the first time and it was amazing. I've never had it in a latte before and the flavors surprisingly worked really well together. I drew on that memory for the flavor profile of this drink.

The tenth drink of my thirty day book as a beverage series is a pumpkin matcha with a salted honey cold foam. The colors were pulled from my paperback edition of One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez.

I love the cover for this novel, it's so vibrant and had colors that were fairly easy to choose cohesive flavors for. First time making pumpkin sauce and it was pretty easy. I kind of guessed the measurements - that’s my usual approach to everything, haha - and it worked out thankfully.

I used Ippodo Tea Ikuyo Matcha, but any you prefer works since it’ll be blending with other flavors! Since I was making a double portion I used 8 g matcha for 100 ml water, so an individual ratio would be 4 g : 50 ml.

The ninth drink of my thirty day book as a bev series is a drink that’s neither hot nor cold but somewhere in between~ A pb&j inspired latte with a fresh raspberry sauce and topped with dark chocolate whipped cream. This drink was inspired by my hardcover edition of Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi.

Because the book’s setting is partially in Ghana, I was attempting to be intentional with the flavor profile and name. Some popular Ghanaian snacks include plantains or different groundnuts.

There were a lot of vibrant colors on the cover and instead of selecting two or three, I think I was a bit ambitious with the flavor profile. But the colors came out so perfectly if I do say so myself. I used saffron to get that yellow hue naturally and you could taste it a bit in the drink.

The eighth drink of my thirty day book as a bev series is a hot ube oat latte with black sesame milk. The colors were drawn from the cover of Antonia Hodgson’s The Raven Scholar.

I’m super happy with how the colors came out. I had to use two kinds of ube to get the desired sweetness and purple hue. I also made the black sesame paste from scratch so that was a tiring but fun process, haha. It came out quite flavorful and vibrant!

The seventh drink of my thirty day book as a bev series, and rounding out the first week is a boba tea inspired concoction that has a butterfly tea base with a hint of lavender and cream, a berry cold foam made with vimto, and a topping of fresh strawberry puree.

The flavor was honestly unlike anything else I’ve had before. The closest comparison would be a strawberry creamsicle, but there was a twist to it I don’t know how to describe that I think that comes from the vimto - which has a sweet and tart mixed berry and spice flavor profile for anyone who’s never had it!

I’m happy with how the colors came out, I think I nailed matching my paperback edition of Legendborn by Tracy Deonn. I’m pretty excited to knock this off the tbr!

The sixth drink of my thirty day book as a bev series is a Thai tea with coconut milk and a mango purée base. It is sweetened with some condensed milk and brown sugar. It can be made vegan by swapping the former with extra sweetener of choice! ‘Shai’ is the Arabic word for tea~

This recipe comes from the colors of my 25th anniversary edition of The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It is one of my favorite books, and one I always recommend to others! I’d never made Thai tea myself before, I’ve usually purchased it from Thai and boba spots, and it was surprisingly easy to make!

The fifth drink of my thirty day book as a bev series is a spinach, grape, mango, and lemon smoothie topped with a mango purée and ground flax seeds. The beverage also contains some coconut whipped cream at its base and on top. It comes all together really easily in the blender and is vegan! It’s super delicious and has such a vibrant color and sweetness naturally. The first 5 ⭐ rating thus far~

Colors are from my edition of Lord of the Flies by William Golding. This book has remained burned in my memory since first having read it in my freshmen English literature class.There were a lot of shades of the same primary colors for this cover. So I drew on four distinct ones.
