OUT OF TOUCH THURSDAY

happy birthday.
this is the only out of touch thursday you can reblog this
the way people seem to genuinely conflate brain damage with fascism drives me up the wall. maybe it's the lead in paint/gas/vapes. maybe it's ai. maybe their brains just don't work right. maybe something they didn't have control over made them dumb to us and thus ontologically evil. what are you on
every single day millions of people are poisoned by the actions of rich people trying to save a dollar by ignoring public safety. nobody has ever chosen to get brain damage. implying people with it are predisposed to conservatism is flatly awful. you yourself are not safe from getting brain damage because you are leftist. you are not special. you are just as likely to fall victim to it as anyone else is.
your mental ability does not, has not, and will never determine your political leanings. it's just plain ableism.

Venus just lost its last active spacecraft, as Japan has officially declared the Akatsuki orbiter - which took the clearest ever picture of the planet, as seen below - dead

speaking of r slur shit i see people using the word then backtracking saying âi can reclaim it because iâm autistic :)â like i donât think you can actually. because the r slur directly targets people with intellectual disabilities not someone who took the raads-r online and scored slightly within range of being on the spectrum SORRY
thereâs this concept of âaspie supremacyâ where autistic people with overall lower support needs dominate conversations of neurodivergence and do not take into consideration that they have privilege over other disabled and neurodivergent people. yes you ARE autistic and no one can tell you otherwise because they are not in your brain but being autistic and having an intellectual disability are two different things.
@withasmoothroundstone (z''l), Mel Baggs, coined this term and in 2011 wrote "Aspie Supremacy Can Kill" on their WordPress, BallastExistenz. Mel was nonspeaking, experienced institutionalization, and was a prominent autism rights activist until they died in 2020, from neglect via lack of services. I recommend reading their writings on this.
Day 180 since Craig moved in. he clearly thinks heâs dating one of us but we canât figure out who. itâs possible one of us is lying about it for some reason but so far our efforts at inquisition has led nowhere. we would kick him out but heâs been doing the dishes for us. weâve decided that for the sanity of the polycule weâll keep up the charade. if all of us continue to be flirty with him, heâll project his attraction onto whoever the hell he thinks is into him. this house of cards is delicate but necessary
It got funnier
This is how cats domesticated themselves
literally though if you feel like your life is slipping through your fingers and every day goes too fast⊠try doing hard things, not just taking the easy route, like reading and making art and exercising and cooking a meal from scratch and journaling, doing these things without distraction, without being absorbed on a screen⊠the time will stretch and youâll be reminded that life is long and beautiful if you make it so.
Reblogging this with these tags because oh my goodness
To the person I reblogged this from THANK YOU i am now going to stick this on my pinboard where Iâm gonna see it every single day

Hey. Look at me. Please leave yourself a note somewhere you'll see it later that says "it is going to take years if not decades to get the United States government to the level of functionality it had in November of 2024." If we elect a democrat in 2028, we are not going to be up and running by 2032.
Please make sure you have a reminder in your phone reminding you to not look at 2028/32/36 Democratic candidates and say "why are they not promising/delivering Cool Shit?" because you are going to understand that to get Cool Shit we must have competent people running a decently funded government, and we are not going to have that.
We are not getting UBI. We are not getting single payer healthcare. We are not getting free college or free preschool. We are not redistributing wealth on a large scale. We are not getting free internet. We are not getting ranked choice voting.
If we are lucky, we are going to get an IRS that can collect taxes, qualified schoolteachers, research grants, Social Security, and a government that thinks maybe it should be a priority for people around the worlds to not have AIDS, malaria or TB.
#yeah we need a FDR level democrat to roll up their sleeves and fix the government#people tuned out will forget
I always groan when I hear stuff like this
because do ya'll actually know what an "FDR level democrat" actually requires?
FDR wasn't a transformative impactful President just cuz
He was a President coming off of a major republican economic fuck up AND was a wartime President
But more importantly, consider the composition of Congress during FDR's 12 years (+Truman's 8 years) in office
from 1933 to 1949, the Democrats (FDR's party) had 46 to a whopping 75 out of 96 senate seats (and from 1949 to 1953 they had 45 to 54 out of 96 senate seats)
and then there's the house
1933-1947, Democrats have 220 to 333 house seats (and maintained 186 to 262 house seats from 1947-1953)
you see those numbers? That's why FDR was able to do what he did, you want a New FDR? Well you're gonna need to vote in the requisite House and Senate majorities, I'm talking 67+ Democrat Senators and 290+ Democrat representatives
This is FDRâs electoral map.
Know how the Greatest Generation got the New Deal?
They voted for it.
