💗⏰and 💖 for the ask game!
💗 Who confesses first? How does it go?
It is the slow burn of the century imo. Drew is painfully ...not shy but definitely got a bad case of "unable to confess" about the matter, while May kinda just continues to think it's a perfectly normal rivalry.
I do think that May eventually has an honest talk with Drew. She wants to do romantic things with someone, and she felt that Drew would be one of the best people to do them with. It's awkward because they're probably teenagers, but Drew accepts without a doubt, grateful she finally noticed.
I'm not sure if she so much noticed as much as the first person that came to mind when it came to "optimal romantic partner" being the guy who gives her Beautifly roses. He's gotta know a thing or two about being romantic.
The talk obviously goes well, and Drew is very excited.
⏰ How do you think they celebrate their 1st anniversary?
Drew is a traditional romantic. His idea would be to give May a gift of paper, traditional for the first wedding anniversary in the Americanized Japan they live in.
In typical Drew fashion, it's an origami rose. It wasn't for Beautifly.
May is less traditional, more spontaneous. She quickly makes a very decorated card to celebrate their wedding.
They're both quite sentimental, and in general keep the gifts the other gives across the relationship.
💖 What's a fluffy headcanon / AU you have?
So according to the leaked character profiles for Ruby and Sapphire, in the early stages the female player (which became May) is a competitive gamer.
Since the profiles date to 2001, I wanted to look into what Japanese esports looked like at that time as a guess at what they meant. From what I could gather, they meant fighting games, but given that I did mention that Japan was Americanized, there is serious wiggle room for other sorts of esports of the era.
Regardless, I think it's funny to give as a trait to May and it's a hobby that Drew didn't exactly anticipate her having. However, he gets involved with it, and he finds he enjoys it, much to his surprise.
