Thank you for 100 followers! I’m sorry I haven’t been super active, I’ll try and post more but I’m a single person running this blog based on my own knowledge of the series.
2/7/19 (Behind the Scenes Thursdays):
Piandao was designed after the martial arts coordinator on the series, Sifu Kisu. They had originally considered designing Pakku after him, but instead decided to wait to use his likeness for a later character.

Contrary to common belief, the spirit world is not an afterlife for humans. There are only three known examples of humans becoming Spirits, and all participants knowingly made the decision to do so. These three humans are Yue, Iroh, and Hundun.

From concept to release, it has been at least four years since this Korrasami statue has been in production! First concept art began to cycle at Mondo Con in October of 2015, followed by a post on Bryan Konietzko’s tumblr (@bryankonietzko) where he vaguely hinted he was drawing art for something that was to come. The figure was officially announced two years later in 2017, and then was displayed at Comic Con in 2017. The figure was finally ready for pre-order in 2018, and is expected to release in March of this year.

In “The Beach” Ty Lee mentions that she has six identical sisters. Their names are (in order left to right) Ty Lin, Ty Liu, Ty Lum, Ty Lat, Ty Lao, and Ty Woo. After Ty Lee ran away to join the circus, her sisters went after her, but by the time they discovered where she was Ty Lee had already been recruited by Azula. Instead of returning home, her sisters took her place at the circus and became an acrobatics act.

2/2/19 (Semi-Canon Saturdays):
This timeline was released on nick.com during Book 4 of The Legend of Korra. This is the first time that an officially-released source has ever used the BG/AG dating system, which was originally coined on Avatar wiki.
Why isn’t it canon?
The usage of the fan-coined BG/AG dating system (originating here on Avatar Wiki) has caused many to speculate that a majority of the information here is taken from fan sources and republished, rather than from the creators official timelines. It also states that Aang became an airbending master at age 10, contradicting with the Avatar Extras trivia that Aang became the youngest master at Age 12. In addition, the timeline was taken down from nick.com very shortly after it was posted.

Zuko is a very talented Tsungi horn player, although he refuses Iroh’s request for him to play and has not played in-universe as of this post’s creation.

1/31/18 (Behind the Scenes Thursdays):
A novelization of the events in the series finale, titled Sozin’s Comet: The Final Battle was released several months before the four-part finale of Avatar: the Last Airbender aired, spoiling the events that would take place therein. It is rumored that the the Avatar: The Last Airbender series finale was intended to be released several months before the four-part event aired on television, but production was delayed. Assuming these rumors are correct, many speculate that these delays are at fault for the early releases, rather than intentional leaking of upcoming information.
1/30/19:
The gap between “The Day of Black Sun Part 2: The Eclipse” and “The Western Air Temple“ lasted for over six months, making it the longest hiatus in the middle of a book in the Avatar franchise.

Graphic novel artist Irene Koh sometimes draws background characters in Turf Wars as people she knows, or her favorite characters. These cameos include characters from Naruto, Sailor Moon, as well as her boyfriend, and series co-creator and graphic novel author Michael DiMartino. Pictured is a crowd scene in Turf Wars: Part One which includes Kakashi, Sasuke, and Sakura from Naruto, and Usagi from Sailor Moon (circled to be easy to spot).

Foaming mouth guy first appears in Book One: Water Chapter Four, “The Warriors of Kyoshi.” Him foaming at the mouth was not originally present in early drafts for the episode, and was later added in by key animator Ki Hyun Ryu.

Flying Lemurs were trained by the Air Nomads to fetch air staffs and bring them to the monks on command. The creators considered having Momo be trained as well, but as it would raise the question who had trained him, they decided not to.

“The Southern Air Temple” is the only episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Legend of Korra that doesn’t have a white title card, instead it depicts a sunrise.

Excluding female characters, Uncle Iroh is the only main character who never received a figure in his likeness. The reasons for this are unknown, although it is unlikely to do with his age as Avatar Roku and Bumi both are represented as figures.
