finally listened to miw's decades album. some of it was quite mid. some of it went hard. people hyped up sunglasses at night a bit too much I fear. I like the original better, miw could have gone harder w that, made it more different. chris could have screamed it
second listen notes:
in my amateur opinion, some of the mixing was strange. for the most part it felt like the music was just a backing track for the main event that was Chris singing, it wasnt exactly a cohesive/working/playing off eachother together as a single musical unit. playing god was notably better in this department, that was a much better put together song overall, which I feel like may have come from the pressure of having it be good for corey lol.
there were other songs where only the kick drum was clear, the cymbals didn't ring very loud. I've been listening to a bit more sleeptoken recently and that mixing is amazing, you can basically air drum based off where the sounds are panned to, and it's all quite crisp.
a lot of the guitar was just mush to me, and tho I do appreciate a wall of noise, this was like a small brick wall in the background instead of in your face.
R I.P sound like from ashes to new if they weren't good (I like some stuff from their blackout album). there is another song it Really sounds like that I can't put my finger on ..
blood rave didn't commit hard enough to being properly ebm-y throughout. it had one moment, and the rest was a bit too pop-y/ sing-song-y for me. my judgement would probably be different if they didn't put rave in the title, I don't think it's doing the blade reference justice. there's good ebm music out there but this is not it. chris could've done some alien vampires screaming type shit that would've been sick
ENDING ON A POSITIVE NOTE THESE ARE THE TRACKS THAT MADE IT ONTO MY BIG PLAYLIST:
log in crash out, fight like hell, playing god, all that I've ever known, love at first bite, afraid of the dark
