"And look at their leader! Old as balls! Probably senile. Can you fucking imagine??"
Never getting over Charlie Kirk getting shot in the throat right after he uses it to downplay gun violence. Gotta be a top 3 assassination. Up there with Shinzo getting doohickey'd.
It's on some straight up Greek play shit. Man who uses his voice to justify violence and stir evil for years meets his end as that very violence tears out his throat. Poetic. Captured live from multiple angles. People stole his blood soaked merch to hock and his wife was giddy about sale numbers during his funeral.
‘Hands weaving magnetic-core memory, IBM, Poughkeepsie, New York,’ 1956. Photograph by Ansel Adams.
My mother used to make computer cores as a "work from home" side business. As a child I got spending money via un-winding the ones that failed testing so that the magnetic center could be re-used. I got between $0.05 and $0.25 per core depending. Mom got more for the finished ones, of course, though I don't know how much. Her sister was an expert, and did the more complicated kind, some of which ended up in satellites and/or were used by NASA!
They were all done by hand using a kind of treadle-operated frame with a little (crochet!) hook to pull the wires around the cores. The people making them were mostly housewives who did this as a side-job in the 80s and 90s. I don't know if it's still done that way anywhere in the USA today, but the history of computing and space exploration is littered with "women's work" like this.

Little Cheetor exercise I was working on for my portifolio rahh rawrrrr
I watched Project Hail Mary last night and the whole part about other senses reminded me of when I hug my old Shih Tzu. He isn’t a huge fan of being hugged but he’ll allow it. He does however always start sniffing the air like crazy.
Turns out it’s because dogs can smell the rise and fall in different hormones that comes with emotions so he’s trying to gage my intentions. Am I relaxed, happy, sad, angry, nervous? Nervous might suggest I intent to give him medication and angry that I want to stop him from doing something, but relaxed/happy/sad might mean I just want to hug him for a bit before letting him go. When it’s just a hug he stops sniffing the air almost immediately but if I have other intentions, even if I play it off as a hug, he keeps going for longer. Their world look so different and yet we make it work.
I sometimes feel that I'm not doing enough with my life, but at least I grew my first two arms significantly before a cactus would have been expected to.

Be sure to give adolescent saguaros a thumbs up to let them know they’re doing a good job.
