There's this whole story unfolding on TikTok right now about this account that got popular — a woman in the US who calls up churches & pretends to have a starving newborn that hasn't eaten since last evening & asks them if they could help her out with a can of formula. Unsurprisingly, none of the ridiculous megachurches actually ever say yes, and the churches & other religious institutions that did say yes are getting lots of support from people.
But I just saw a video of a TT user explaining that they decided to do their own little social experiment — by walking up to drug dealers on the street, telling them there's a young woman with a baby who needs help with formula, and literally all of them immediately reached into their pockets. In this story, the OP did have a real neighbor with a baby who ended up getting some much needed baby supplies. Thanks to the charity of local drug dealers.
A lot of Americans are learning that their rich white Christian churches are less willing to help their communities than black churches, mosques, buddhist temples & apparently also crack dealers.

Figting Back Against Youtube's Age-Restriction Policy.
As I'm sure many of you know, YouTube is implementing a new AI-driven policy in attempt to "protect the kids". Youtube will be using AI systems to monitor everything you watch on the platform, and will determine whether you are over 18 by the type of content you watch.
So if for instance you watch a lot of comfort, family friendly content, the AI may consider you to be under-18, even if you have given your date of birth to YouTube when signing up.
If that happens to you, YouTube will require you to submit your government ID just to get back into your account. So not only will everything you watch be linked to your official ID, YouTube will have access to that data, which could potentially be leaked, hacked or even sold.
Despite the inconsistencies and issues with AI, YouTube us trusting it to monitor everything we are watching. On top of that, there is the potential for everything you watch to be tied to your official identity card, removing all anonymity. I don't think I need to explain how dangerous that is.
If this policy stays in place, we could see more platforms owned by Google see similiar measures come into play, completely destroying all privacy, anonymity and safety on the Internet.
I urge you all to please take 2 minutes to sign this petition against this measures. Currently it is at 94,000 signatures, but if we want any chance of taking on YouTube, we will need more. If you can, you can also donate to help boost the petition or share this post to other tags.
