The biggest problem I have with "support black indie creators" is that people only really ever bring up black indie creators when a non-black (dare a say often white) indie creator gets exposed or called out for racism, and I hate to break it to you guys, but that is actually not a good thing.
Anti-blackness in the indie scene is a serious issue and we should always call it out even if it seems like a "nothing-burger," but at the same time you should always uplift and support black indie creators regardless. Solely bringing them up when some popular indie creator gets called out for racism will only lead them to being forgotten when the controversy dims down and everyone moves on to something else.
Please support black creators all year round and not just occasionally.
I think leftists need to refer to the United States as a slave state more often. It has one of the highest prison populations per capita of any nation, slavery is legal as punishment for a crime, and Black people are disproportionately imprisoned and given longer sentences. The prison industrial complex is modern-day slavery

you actually feel gaslit when you try to tell white people of a certain age that pewdiepie, with a platform so vast and catering to youth, helped reinvigorate racism and casual dehumanization towards indians because they get all “omg you can’t blame One man for that” like yes i can actually :) we were very incrementally making our way past the gas station indian popularized by apu and indian creatives were finally being given legitimate and serious opportunities (like say what you will about aziz and mindy in hindsight but at the time that was a shift culturally) only for this dumb swedish pig to get online and spark that vile shit right back up. ask any indian with a modicum of pride in their heritage and they can tell you how uncomfortable pewdiepie made us with ourselves
Not to mention what an insane argument it is that you "cant blame one guy for that" as if he didn't normalize that behavior and rhetoric for his MASSIVE audience. Like the crux of the whole conflict was him and tseries competing for the top spot on youtubes most subscribed. We talk all the time on the internet about how creators have a level of responsibility for the way they portray things for their audience and most of the time these conversations surround people with a FRACTION of the following that he had. Arguing all of a sudden that he had no influence over the wider perception of indian people is a stupid statement at best and mind numbingly racist at worst. He had more influence on internet culture than the majority of youtubers do now and its insane to argue that that influence goes away when it comes to his anti-indian racism.
he looks a little traumatized
I do think the post that's like "when they torture you to insanity and then torture you for being insane 😂🤣" is one of the most succinct and foundational analyses of interpersonal violence and conflict that had ever been written
