New Name

Hi it's me @childofmattel. You might know me for my EAH Backgrounder's post or my EAH Fancasts specifially the ones I made for @vivi-designs. Basically I make Mattel content, Monster High, EAH, etc. And because I'm dramatic I'm making a post/announcment to let ya'll know I'm changing my name. My content will still be the same (maybe more things than just Mattel) but I just wanted to change my name and aesthetic, that's it.

Thinking about how present Apple is in a Semi Charming Kind of Life. How she’s woven into Darling’s days, built into her world. There’s no world where Apple isn’t there, stopping by her dorm or dazzling the class or just hanging out with Daring when Darling approaches him.

Thinking about how rare Darling is in the original books. How Apple describes her for one scene only, how she’s a fleeting moment of a character. Dazzling, enchanting, but only there for the second and then gone, out of the story and narration. After all, out of sight out of mind. Right?

Thinking about Dragon Games, and how Apple never really apologized for hurting her, but Darling never asked for one. About Way Too Wonderland, when Darling was the one to show up to Apple’s club when no one else did. About the kiss, and how the first words out of Apple’s mouth were about Daring. Did she know? Probably not, but how could she not? All the feelings present for her over time, taken for granted and brushed aside or never noticed in the first place. About the last scene of the two, side by side and smiling. Did Darling tell her, once the dust settled? How much she meant, how much she thought about that kiss before it happened?

Thinking about how Apple’s entire character revolves around the desperate facade she’s trying to maintain to make people like her, and it made her miss the one person who always did.

ever after high versus monster high is just an extremely rich private school versus public school bcs like cleo and torelai can be mean but are kinda just typical bullies who are rude but you can tolerate while kids in ever after high are like “you are lower than me societally and you are doomed to have an awful life reflecting the systemic oppression of all those who came before you and despite having different intentions and dreams since you were born into the wrong situation if you fail to accomplish those duties you are endangering all of us with dark fates. which only YOU GUYS are supposed to have. we are supposed to be happy and rich!” also because headmaster bloodgood is like actually a positive force in her students lives while grimm is a fascist cult leader focused on status. This isn't even like a shipping thing her behaviour is just annoying and such a departure from how she acts in monster high, and they way they kept her having a radio show/podcast just to use it for the Cupid/Dexter/Raven dilemma is so frustrating. Torn between understanding Cupid's change in character is a result of the writing and not wanting to dislike her for that but also just finding her so goddamn annoying. Would I get torn apart if I said I don't even get why she's in Ever After High ? Like… outside of her little true hearts moment and creating some drama with Raven and Dexter why is she there ???? (outside of yk irl marketing reasons)

eah cheerhexer uniforms

(Plus some colorguard flags bc I said so)

I'm so sorry to my non-US audience who has no idea what colorguard is but the point is the cheerhexers so we can focus on them.

I feel like it might be a bit too purple on the skirt but I love the top. It was so hard to find base uniforms to edit onto so I just straight up colored in the red parts and changed the colors of almost everything. Originally I was gonna go more traditional with a pleated skirt, but Faybelle is the captain and I can see her liking a tighter skirt more.

Idk how I feel about the bows but the idea is there. Love the poms tho, I think a mix of all three colors would work well. At my school (well not anymore bc I graduated yesterday hehe) we had a blue pom for one hand and an orange pom for the other, but I like the mix better.

Colorguard flags are ok? I couldn't find anything better or closer to the school colors but it works. I'll add marching band stuff later but this is the general school spirit stuff.

This scene could’ve been so good if she had some like PTSD moment back to when she almost drowned in the well. It would’ve fit so well too because you’re supposed to “think outside the box” and that has always been something apple was never good at. The whole point of the well scene from the books was to show how apple finds safety in predictability and order, which is everything Wonderland isn’t.

Just imagine:

Briar, kitty, Lizzie, Maddie, and Raven have no problem getting out once they figure out the solution. But apple still struggles and treads for her life. All she can think about is when she almost drowned as a child, and how terrifying the world is. Her whole life all she ever wanted to do was follow the script that had been laid out for her. She’s always done her best to stay within the guidelines of her destiny. And that is why she takes longer than that rest of the group to think outside the box. She’s never been good at that, it’s her greatest weakness. Eventually though, she pulls herself together holds her breath, goes under the tea, and she’s able to get out.

So while the rest of the group thinks outside the box in a literal sense, apple does so in a metaphorical one. She shows courage and goes underneath the tea knowing that she could potentially drown. Knowing that in the real world there are always unpredictable obstacles at every corner. She finally decides to face that with courage instead of being sheltered within her fairytale.

It would’ve been a good moment. In general it would’ve been nice if we got more development from apple by seeing her struggle with the unpredictable nature of wonderland, especially considering how apple has always found it easier to live by rules and logic. It would’ve been a nice way of showing her adapt and eventually building up the courage to accepting a world where people don’t always have to have answers to the future and what happens next. It also would’ve explained why she has a change of heart in the final act when she tells Raven that the choice is hers no matter what.
