it upsets me that that movie about the guy from drive and the rock was ruined for me when the author came out and said he thinks ‘identity politics’ ruins art and that he avoids politics in his writing then said he hates that people expect star trek to talk about social issues and “just wants to watch the romulans and federation shoot at eachother”. hey girl, star trek??

like lol it’s not that i don’t want to engage with his work if i disagree with him politically it’s more that he made himself look so fucking stupid. like it made me feel like a lot of what i liked about his writing was stumbled into by accident and HE doesn’t even know what he’s saying. your first book was about the nations of the world coming together to save one guy. but yeah man the narriative is apolitical don’t piss me offffff

do not get stressed about the newspolls saying one nation are toootally going to win the next election. first of all those newspolls are straight up propaganda, and second - if we're pretending that theyre credible (which theyre not) but if we pretend, the most they mean is one nation might have overtaken the liberals in the 2 party preferred, so an election would be between labor and one nation , not the liberals. but i also wouldnt get stressed about that fact because, lets check, labor currently hold Ninety Four seats, one nation have two.
