Who’s more sexually desirable: Scar or Thanos?
No context; no middle ground. Choose your fighter.
Who does it for you?
Scar
Thanos
Listen I get it but you CANNOT use "sensory nightmare" as an excuse to avoid essential things. You HAVE to find a way to make it work, such as finding effective alternatives. But you can't just avoid it.
You need to eat some vegetables in your diet or you will become a lich.
You have to wear a life jacket or you will literally drown and die.
You need to be able to exist in public spaces with children.
You have to find a way.
i undertstand why subtitles like to denote when music starts playing and what mood its trying to convey because its useful information if you cant hear the music. but i do find it mildly amusing when the subs say [EMOTIONALLY MOVING MUSIC PLAYS] like okay buddy ill be the judge of that. dont tell me know to feel about your score. i'll be as moved as i want to be.
As they say at the awards shows, I was humbled to learn that Christopher Nolan has read at least the first line of my...
Nolan’s vision of the world is not quite big enough to include either real gods or real people who might be different from us.
Brutal.
"There are more female characters than in most Nolan movies, thanks to the source material."
We got you buddy
When people say "crab bucket mentality" I always think "buckets don't occur in nature" and then things like this.
"Buckets don't occur in nature"
actually goes hard as fuck.
Companies in the 2000s: You wouldn't download a car! Digital copies are still stealing, even if the original copy remains with us.
Companies in the 2020s: That digital copy, which you have paid for, doesn't really belong to you. We're removing it from your library now.
Companies deleting media you've literally purchased is 1000x more realistically "stealing" than digital piracy, you cannot change my mind
Saw something a while back on which Star Trek characters are your "comfort" characters and thought, oh why not, let's break it down by series:
Star Trek TOS:
Spock and Uhura will do and say the right things with gentle logic and calm. Kirk would be a little too leery, Bones a little too caustic; Scotty a little too busy, and while Sulu would be a great gossip and Chekov a little mopey, I'll give it to Uhura because she knows. Spock is a very close second.
Star Trek TNG:
Picard: says and does the right things, but he's CAPTAIN and you don't forget it. Riker says and does the right things, but he's SMILING and it's a little unnerving. Guinan is wise and sort of all-knowing, which is also unnerving, but also keeps her at a slight distance. Geordie, like Scotty, is great but too busy and you don't want to bother him. Data is logical and kind but also likely to just stare at you. Dr. Crusher will say and do the right things and show a lot of spine you wish you had, but she'll also wander off. Worf is so SOLID and protective, even if the news is bad you'll think it'll be ok. Maybe.
Then there's Deanna Troi, a powerful character who never got her due. She's wise, she's insightful, she probably already knows all about you and she's going to tell you what's what and not mess around. And then she offers you chocolate.
Deanna Troi, no question.
Star Trek DS9:
I could go through that crowd of troubled and traumatized nerds and you know it will always be Benjamin Sisko, the galaxy's Best Dad who will make you FOOD.
Star Trek Voyager:
Tuvok. I mean, yes, Janeway is the Best Captain and all, Neelix tries so hard, everyone else is HUSTLING, so it's just Tuvok. Best Vulcan space dad.
Didn't watch Enterprise, but Archer looks like he gives a good hug.
The Abrams films can vanish, not going there, which brings us to ---
Star Trek Discovery:
I would have said, from the gitgo, that Georgiou was it, but then they killed her off pretty quick; Burnham is such a blinding light you don't want to step too close. I never felt much for any of the other characters (save Saru, almost all were sadly underwritten), but I'm sentimental about Dr. Culber who is not only good and wise and gay, but played by Wilson Cruz. That's my dude.
I've missed out on Lost Decks and Starfleet Academy (I will make time I will make time I will I will make time) so if you have a fav there, let me know.
Share yours if you like. Who are you picking for your away missions?
The older i get the more i understand why some people become obsessed with privacy, not because they’re hiding something, but because being constantly perceived starts to feel spiritually exhausting.
Did you know that soda machines at restaurants and movie theaters spy on you? That most common new cars now record your sexual preferences and send it to the manufacturer (and also data about anyone who also gets in your car, walks by your car, and maybe happens to be within visual range of your car)? That grocery stores are trying to force customers to download an app to scan barcodes on shelves instead of putting up prices, so the app can scan the phone, decide how much that customer should be squeezed for, and adjust the price? That more and more innocent people are being sent to jail for crimes committed hundreds of miles away because an AI facial recognition algorithm spit their faces out and the cops didn't bother to do the most basic of checks?
I am not uptight about privacy because I'm hiding something. I'm uptight about it because the people who dismiss my right to privacy are dangerous to you and me and our families, personally, all the time.
And often, they are assholes, too.
Finding out AI companies are chewing through - literally, they’re pulping and burning them as they go - millions of books often including 1/1s and old texts that cannot be reprinted
Meanwhile there’s always some dipshit telling me AI is the future and we’ve got to just let companies erase human history and literature so they can train their abomination machines to pretend to think like people because a judge said it’s fine
AI companies are buying and scanning printed books for training data, raising copyright and cultural preservation concerns as rare volumes a
season 3 clarke, raven and murphy please come back we need to destroy ai again 🙏
