And somehow this ruminating turned into a horrible and evil theory that’s not really a theory because it’s obviously not True but it’s an interesting idea. it’s just way too cruel. Which is that summerhall was egg trying to pull off an intentional murder suicide to end the targaryen dynasty in the bleak hope some new and better system could rise from the ashes. like what if it wasnt a last ditch attempt to increase his power, but an attempt to give up his power that went terribly wrong somehow. (Like… egg becoming dragon obsessed is an equally out of left field development right. no matter what he is Fucked up by the years.)

consider: aegon in his final years tormented with horror and guilt and becoming a bitter self hating bolshevik about it. Hoping in the rubble their subjects will find the bodies and finally understand that their kings are just men, flammable and fallible, their dragon eggs long turned to stone. And maybe something new would be formed. or at least something would change.
