I'm a BIG fan of low ranking characters suddenly thrust into a position of authority they're unprepared for. a young princess, too far down the line of succession to merit any training, forced onto the throne when her whole family dies in one attack. a lowly technician on a team who finds themself the defacto leader when a mission goes wrong and every single person above them is captured or killed. a group of strangers comes together for survival, and the only person with any assertiveness gets assigned a leadership role, even though they have no special skills. do these characters rise to the challenge and lead their respective groups to victory? do they crash and burn under the pressure so hard no one ever trusts them again? do they massively restructure their whole society because any system that puts them in charge can't be doing things right?
sometimes i talk about how awful it was to feel trapped by my daily makeup routine and how i couldn’t leave the house without putting on a full face and it played a major role in the misery of my high school experience because i had to spend so much extra time getting ready in the mornings and that followed me into my early 20s as well and it was hell and it was so incredibly liberating to go through the slow and uncomfortable but ultimately essential process of getting my bare face back and having makeup be an optional accessory instead of a mandatory uniform. and the response always tends to be ah yes of course, because of your trans and your masculine. and it’s like aha so close! actually! I think if I ended up being a feminine cis woman I also still would not deserve even a second of that shit! I think trans women and nonbinary people and every human alive should have the option to leave the house without a single cosmetic product ever touching their face! but thanks for playing!
saying "question mark?" and "however comma," out loud are game changers. punctuation on the go. and it's always the funniest thing that anyone around you has ever heard
favorite thing in the whole wide world when a story is about how a typically “negative” trait is the one essential to saving the day. a character whose anger pushes them further than any of their kinder aspects. someone so stubborn that they cross a finish line no one else could reach. greed that becomes justification to protect people. ruthlessness that gets the job done right. the coward who becomes a hero because they were the only one with the sense not to face something deadly head on. selfishness that keeps you alive.
I love when our ‘worst’ impulses are shown to be as important to who we are and how we handle things as the best parts of us. sometimes you don’t conquer what everyone says is wrong with you; sometimes you learn how to make use of what comes naturally instead of fighting against it.

Thank you for answering my ask : D. I find the way you wrote their reactions delicious! Plus the image of chihuahua Yvgeny will not leave my mind. Especially after Agatha's picture. But it makes me wonder how do you think the aftermath would go down, because I can't see it ending well for Yvgeny.
Whether he crawls up from the lower decks, or breaks the curse and is found on another planet, he can't claim that he didn't try to run away from them.
How would Lyphos react to such a blow to his pride? How would Bizanti behave, knowing that the guardsman he wants to posses might try to disappear at any moment? Sefice, with his pragmatism in the face of this breach of trust. And Bethael, who we know cares deeply for Yvgenny.
Very, very curious to read your thoughts
My pleasure! :D And yes, that bit of art is delightful! ;p
Now I understand that you are probably looking for some yandere answers here, but first let me tell you what I think. It is less sensational, but more honest. :)
I am certain they have all tried to pull at this metaphorical collar to see if they can leave, only to be slingshot back to the Carcass by any means necessary. So in my opinion they would not fuss about it quite as much as we think. "Oh hey, Yvgeny made an attempt! Brave of him/about time! See? You're not getting away. You're stuck with us." would be the general sentiment. Sure, they wanted to keep him CLOSE, but it's almost cute to see him try things they have been attempting for decades. ;)
If he DOES break the curse... are we sure he did? Because now he is right back where he belongs, nestled in the Carcass between them all, where he is meant to be. The ship might not have its own pull anymore, but its Astartes sure do! ;)
Thank you for your patience, here is your yandere content. :D
Yvgeny tried to leave and Lyphos takes it personally. No no, little mortal, you do not understand, silly thing! If you want to escape, you need power, you need cunning. A pet remains a pet until he embraces the flames of ambition, the change of Tzeentch! You fancy yourself independant, an equal? Prove it then. Let Lyphos see you wriggle out of the golden collar and chain now constantly around your neck. If you hate this reminder of who you belong to so much, then embrace the Changer of ways and do something about it.
Yvgeny tried to leave, and Byzanti takes it personally. Why would he even want to leave him?? Byzanti has so many wonderful delights to share with him! And he deserves to be appreciated, Yvgeny OWES him is adoration, how DARE he skimp out on his duties! But... Byzanti is magnanimous. He is soooo nice! He will forgive Yvgeny... he just needs to make sure he is never in a state to overthing things again. He just needs to be addicted to Byzanti (or one of his drugs, he isn’t picky) and view life away from him as hell. Yes, he can get his adoring little guardsman, he just needs a tiny bit of chemical help...
Yvgeny tried to leave, and Sefice takes it personally. It doesn’t show at first, he just hovers behind Yvgeny more pointedly. But then. He starts getting more controling. A ceramite hand firmly grips Yvgeny's shoulder anytime he is about to leave, keeping him there with no choice. Anywhere he goes, Sefice follows loomingly, and where he can’t go he sends Lucetrix. Privacy is a myth now. Worse yet, it is difficult to plot or try to leave when you are constantly struck with mild fevers and headaches, flus and other bed-ridden-causing diseases. And the constant apathetic feeling that goes with the presence of a champion of Nurgle doubtlessly stomps out any wish to move, to fight back, to escape. It is what it is, and it is inevitable. There is no way out.
Yvgeny tried to leave and Bethael takes it personally. He was making such big progress towards Khorne, and now he flees like a coward?? ... he flees away from Bethael? He might be the first man in a long time Bethael WANTS to have around, the one good thing he doesn’t need to fight and bleed to get, one of the rare people not to insult and demean him ; and he tried to LEAVE?? No. Absolutely not. Bethael has to resist the urge to tear him limb from limb for that, like the nails demand, but... if he was a little rough and broke both of his legs, well, let's call it a lesson. He feels guilty about it, of course, especially since it keeps happening. He looks at Yvgeny, remembers how he left, then suddenly he blinks and he is breaking the guardsman's arm as he begs him to stop. He goes to visit him in the medbay, wary Yvgeny tells him that he has to stay for a few weeks before he can leave- and now Drask is pulling him away bodily, and Yvgeny is screaming, and his mangled hand is still sticking out of Bethael's fist... he did not mean to. Yvgeny is scared of him now, avoiding him like everybody else, worse than anybody else! But Bethael wants to cling to him so hard, even if it means tearing him apart. He doesn’t know what else to do. Everyone always leaves...!
Sleepy Yvgeny Edition: How would the space marines react to Yvgeny falling asleep on them/in their lap?
Bethael: It would be agony because he would be trying to hold still to not disturb Yvgeny, but we know our favorite khornate is a restless one.
Lyphos: It might be one of the rare moments the great and magnificent Lyphos finally shuts up, because he is busy keeping the nightmares at bay so the favorite mortal can get some rest.
Sefice: Its a surprise given the ever potent smell always emanating from the nurglite. He guesses either Yvgeny is so exhausted he would have knocked out anywhere, or the all the lho sticks finally destroyed his sense of smell. Sefice doesnt struggle to keep still or quiet, he allows Yvgeny to rest as long as possible.
Byzanti: He's genuinely touched that Yvgeny trusts him in such a way. Like Lyphos, its one of the rare moments the Slaaneshi actually shuts up. He's very gentle with Yvgeny, adjusting his posture so the spikes dont hurt him, maybe massaging his back, perhaps even softly petting his hair. For a being all about pain and pleasure, he knows how to be tender.
Bonus round!
Valthor Drask: He's often too busy to let Yvgeny sleep on him, but he has enough experience with baselines to know how to gently move Yvgeny to a cot without waking him. It might look a little bit like a parent carrying a sleepy child from the car to the house.
