I'm a BIG fan of low ranking characters suddenly thrust into a position of authority they're unprepared for. a young princess, too far down the line of succession to merit any training, forced onto the throne when her whole family dies in one attack. a lowly technician on a team who finds themself the defacto leader when a mission goes wrong and every single person above them is captured or killed. a group of strangers comes together for survival, and the only person with any assertiveness gets assigned a leadership role, even though they have no special skills. do these characters rise to the challenge and lead their respective groups to victory? do they crash and burn under the pressure so hard no one ever trusts them again? do they massively restructure their whole society because any system that puts them in charge can't be doing things right?

At last, a pill that can prevent COVID after exposure to infected people

Drug arrives years after pandemic’s peak, but could still offer protection to vulnerable populations.

An antiviral pill has, for the first time, been shown to prevent COVID-19 in people exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus at home, according to trial results published today in the New England Journal of Medicine1. its called Freeway Park and while it is one of the most interesting single examples of Brutalism in the united states and im proud of it, it is so poorly designed in terms of public safety that it has been renovated twice(?) but continues to be geographically troubling, as its design has facilitated a lot of murders over the years. it was the subject of a funny but gruesome article in the STranger in 2002 called Topography of Terror. the city doesnt keep official tally of how many murders or assaults have happened IN the park but two men in their 30s were stabbed nonfatally during a robbery there earlier this year, for example.

On the referrers tab of the participation spreadsheet, 16 people arrived at the survey from a flyer/leaflet, and that's right below people who arrived from Twitter (22 people).

I think it would be great and really funny if flyer/leaflet could be above Twitter. That would be so satisfying for me, because Elon Musk is a knobhead and old school hardcopy everything is the best.

So, if everyone could please print out some flyers (PDF, Google Doc) and stick them up in random unisex toilets/changing rooms, or pin them on pinboards, or stack them on tables, or put them in postage-paid envelopes from random junk mail and post them, etc. etc. that could help the cause.

Let's stick it to The Man (Elon "Knobhead" Musk).
