Watson in his first ever appearance:

does the impossible and charms the reticent Mr Sherlock Holmes, moves in with him on the spot, hasn't even known him 48 hours. "my weakened nerves cannot deal with excitement" - is immediately excited by the prospect of crime and uhhh excitement. gets Holmes to play his favorite music for him although he usually doesn't play actual pieces but only "scrapes upon his violin". calls Lestrade rat-faced and ferret-like. insults Holmes' newspaper article and reasoning. "that dead guy was so ugly, ew, I'm grateful to whoever killed him actually". let's himself willingly be roped into playing one part of a con with Holmes, cleans and loads his gun without hesitation when asked even though he has no idea what's going on. anytime Sherlock looks sad or distressed he's all "it was all I could do to keep my countenance" "so great was his emotion that I felt sincerely sorry for him". when Holmes is upset that Gregson and Lestrade get all the credit, Watson cries out that he will publish his notes, then does precisely that and more - "Of course, Doctor Watson, this is strictly between ourselves," says Gregson and writes Watson, like lol you thought bitch, not only am I gonna print it, I will write down that you told me in confidence, that's what you get for taking my bestie's credit. and that's just my debut, author OUT
