so after the first time he and eddie hook up (and it takes buck forever to fall asleep because he's heart pounding terrified that he's just fucked up the most important friendship of his life and normally he'd sneak out of bed to panic call maddie but he can't because eddie is sprawled on top of him fast asleep) buck wakes up to an empty bed and a quiet house and his first thought is ah fuck I fucked it up and he's grabbing his phone to call maddie and gearing up to have a good cry, when he spots the note on the clipboard on his arm: 'getting coffee. I love you.'

(when eddie gets back with the coffee he and buck spend ten minutes playing gay clipboard tattoo chicken, pretending to be sooo nonchalant and acting like eddie didn't write it and buck didn't read it, until buck can't fight the urge to look down at it any longer and when he looks up again eddie is looking at him, and then. well. snogging.

A rant about the ages of the children on 9-1-1...

In 2x14 Broken (April 15, 2019) - Michael states Harry is 10 and he would have NOT already had his birthday, meaning he was born 2009 2008.

6x18 What's Your Fantasy - Bobby uses DOBs as lucky numbers - Harry's birthday is Feb 7. Based on what we learn in 9x01 Harry's birthday happens after Bobby dies so after April meaning his birthday is now July 2. It's still 2-7 just not following the US date writing rules.

Casino Week - March 20, 2025 (cross over with DO) - Athena says Harry is 17. This would now be before his birthday. That would make his year of birth 2007.

They've aged him up a year. Or probably two and forgot he had a cannon DOB. That's at least slightly more in line with the actor who is 19/20?

Denny comes to Hen and Karen either on the day or a day or two after the Senate votes to repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell (Flashback in 6x06) Dec 18, 2010. He is still in an infant bucket seat which makes him less than 18mo but more than 6mo because he is easily sitting up.

He has his birthday in 6x09 Red Flag (Air Date Nov 28, 2022) Karen mentions the conversation about his birth mom has been 10 years in the making. Is that from when they got him? When Eva showed up the last time? Who knows but his birthday is probably some time in Nov.

Since he wasn't a month old when he came to Hen and Karen that makes his DOB Nov 2009.

Unless they didn't mean the vote, thet meant when it went into effect (because writers are bad at dates....) which would be Sept 20, 2011, meaning he was born Nov 2010.

Mara first shows up in S7x05 You Don't Know Me (April 11, 2024) and she's 9.

She has a birthday upcoming about a week before she was taken. Now that's right around when Chris leaves. In S8E7 Hotshots (Nov 14, 2024) Chris has been gone for three months. So mid July to mid Aug is when he left. Meaning Mara's birthday is End of July to beginning of Aug 2014

Baby is the size of a mango when we see Maddie and Chim on video call in S4E1 which is either 19 or 23 weeks, depending on the specific fruit chart they were using. This is six months after the stay at home order which was March 19, 2020. So Maddie is either 19 (Due Feb 7-13) or 23 (Jan 10-Jan 16) weeks around Sept 19 2020.

Maddie is "nine and a half months pregnant" in S4E9 Blindsided when she gives birth which could mean she's 38 weeks (because technically you're due at 40 weeks or 10 months) but it could also mean that she's 42 weeks and overdue if the person assumes 9 months pregnant = baby done cooking and she'a a half month or two weeks overdue.

So Jee's either born:

Dec 27-Jan 2 (38 weeks/was 23 weeks Sept 19)

Jan 24-Jan30 (42 weeks/was 23 weeks Sept 19) OR (38 weeks/was 19 weeks Sept 19)

Feb 21- Feb 27 (42 weeks/was 19 weeks Sept 19)

But seeing as a week also has 7 days, each of these could fluctuate by that much as well.

23 weeks makes the most sense seeing as S3 was supposed to end with May's grad party which would have been end of May 2020, which would make Maddie 7-8 weeks around that original party date.

Meaning Maddie was probably due Jan 10-16 and Jee was probably born Jan 24-30

Baby Bobert is even more complicated to figure out. Maddie was too early to tell people when Buck figured it out. Buck figured things out after he broke up with Tommy. Tommy and Buck got together around the Madney wedding, S7E6 (May 2, 2024). S8E5 is Halloween, Buck and Tommy go out for their 6 months anniversary in S8E6 so beginning of Nov would make sense.

S8E8 Eddie is talking to real estate agents. S8E9 he's bought a house. Needs 2-3 weeks notice to find subletter. So we're probably looking beginning of Dec he moves to Texas. Beginning of Dec was also when Maddie was kidnapped, Chimney says she's just into the second trimester (which means 13-14 weeks).

Them not being ready to tell people around beginning of Nov when she was 11ish weeks makes sense. In the hospital after Chim says they're having a boy. Earliest ultrasounds would be 14 weeks, although medical standard is still 18-20 weeks. They probably told Chimney early to give him some positive news given the circumstances.

Maddie would be due roughly May 16 - May22 with Bobert.

Bobby's funeral was a week after they had alredy waited two weeks so after May 8th. So no wonder Chimney's breakdown was really badly timed.

So:

Harry's DOB is Feb 7, 2007/08

Denny is Nov 2009/10

Chris is Sept 2010/11

Mara is end July/ mid Aug 2014

Jee-Yun is Jan-Feb 2021

the one thing i'm gonna say about rg liking that reel, and i beg you, read it through, is we can and should drop a celeb like a hot potato and stop supporting them if their core beliefs are harmful but he's just a drop in the bucket. rg is not that famous and the people who follow him with this level of dedication are mostly fandom engagers who are already aware to some degree about gender equality or have fundamentally left aligned values.

we can all collectively agree to cancel him but that's not gonna make a difference. the real bad guy here is the white religious reactionary cult crafting insidious social media videos that appeal to hundreds of thousands of regular people enough that they don't realise it's alt right bullshit, enough that they're willing to overlook the stuff they don't agree with or sounds silly (recycled toilet water come the fuck on). the first comment on that reel is a woman defending public education and gender equality but agreeing with the rest of it.

the problem is not that rg liked it and may or may not agree with all the statements, he's just one dude. the problem is that a lot of people will disagree with some of them but be disenchanted enough to join that lifestyle, and after a while they'll renounce that one belief they were holding onto. the problem is we can point and tell from the outside all we want and celebrate the people who made it out as heroes, but the people inside and the people on the fringes need the help. fuck rg. i'm talking about your aunt who is distrustful of the USA medical system and likes baking from scratch. i'm talking about your childhood friend with a food allergy that is swarmed by alt right homesteading videos because they wanted to look up allergen free recipes. the alt right exploiting that pipeline is not accidental, it's a move out of the Nazi propaganda playbook, find dissatisfaction and pin the blame on something ambiguous enough that lots of people buy into it.

alt right cults are the real enemy.

the "they're monsters" narrative negates that regular people can be manipulated into joining evil belief systems.

calling out rg is basic human decency. calling out the cult and educating people on the dangers of that kind of discourse is actual activism.

i really really really love the time and care and attention you took to develop the lore and world building of your pco universe. SO thoughtful and out of the box. I was entranced how your in universe assumptions play with the secondary gender in almost this abstract way - the detail of alpha as an indicator only for women and omega only for men and a give/get inbetween with societal implications that was so folded into the story you could interpret it by passing OC interactions....blown away. When Taylor was introduced not only as an alpha but as someone who held antiquated in universe personal convictions that played so heavily into her sexuality I gasped and shot up in my seat. The story you've built of Buck and Eddie is so compelling but the world you've built for them is awe inspiring. I see you're not very active on here but I am very active on you, now, especially now that I know you have plans for this story past what's in editing. I love Taylor Kelly so friggen much in this universe! I'm working on a whole part of this from her perspective because I love her side of things so much. She's Presentor Carrier, like Eddie, but there are slightly different characteristics between male PC and female PC. Each presentation has slight variations between male and female. Everyone is so limited in their perspective and knowledge (Eddie being clueless and uneducated about his presentstion, Buck essentially being a "cis-man" with limited experience outside his presentation) so I need someone who's motivation is more educating herself and learning what makes people tick. Part three will be Taylor from childhood up to modern day, a mix of her personal life and her exploring her presentation and what it means in universe for her.

The PCO Universe

As I was leaving my author's notes on the most recent chapter of my fanfic I realized that I was getting too yappy and it was probably best to take this offsite for anyone who was curious. The following is a discussion of my thought process around developing my variation of Omegaverse for what I have been calling "The PCO universe" AKA I took things way too seriously and asked way too many questions and tried to answer them as best I could without sounding ridiculous.

As part of developing this world, I tried my best to consider how common/uncommon different presentations would be and how much experience different characters would have, either through their own biology or the biology of around them. Part of this also includes looking at how language might be used. Omegaverse worlds are simply always more interesting to me as a commentary tool for gender/sexuality. As with many things, it's better when it's queer.

In this world, Alpha males just aren't a thing. Same goes for Omega females. Those terms are specifically used to refer to people of differing secondary sex than the "expected" presentation. Expected presentation is female carriers and male producers. This universe includes female producers or "alphas", and male carriers or "omegas". There are also male producer/carriers (like Eddie) and female producer/carriers (introduced briefly in the most recent chapter with Taylor). There is also a smaller group in universe who is neither and functionally infertile. In a trope that so often gets boiled down to "it's a breeding kink", I think it's important to include temporary and permanent birth control as well as infertility. It just makes the world more fleshed out and realistic. This is why I refer to it as PCO, Producer/Carrier/Other.

Buck was introduced in the show as a "promiscuous" character, given the universe it is distinctly possible that he has had contact with partners who also didn't meet the "expected" presentations. The majority of his partners (save for Eddie and Tommy) were female though. As someone who can not get pregnant and who was not trying to get his partners pregnant, Buck would not have needed to discuss birth control options for preventing a female producer from getting him pregnant. He would only have been sticking to typical birth control options for a producer male. Buck incorrectly made assumptions about Eddie's biology based on their assumption of Eddie being only a producer. This is something he'll learn about at another time and they'll have to consider together in the future.

As a direct result of Eddie being a carrier he is able to carry a child and has other biological features that go along with this. Namely things like a uterus and producing eggs, but also self lubrication. A wise person once said, in a universe where men can give birth - it's only fair to give them a self-lubricating hole. He does not however menstruate and while he does have a natural fertility cycle, there is re-absorption. There are no knots in this universe. Eddie did just believe that he had a tendency to get a sweaty crack and balls during arousal. They both mistakenly assumed they needed artificial lube for comfortable penetration. Buck was being a courteous partner (regardless of biology - use lube if you or your partners want lube!), but they were both very drunk and uninformed. Ophelia's conception could have gone differently.

Also included in this chapter is references to Taylor's biology/attitudes about it. I love this version of Taylor Kelly with my entire heart and I fully support her rights to take back terms that would be used against her. That said, she's not polite or "proper" about it. How she discusses her biology would not be appropriate outside of those personal moments and would very much be sexualizing or fetishism if it was being done to someone else. If she wants to play with her own biology as a kink, then good for her. Unlike Eddie she also rejects the idea of children. Eddie, eventually, embraces his secondary reproductive characteristics. Taylor purposely chooses to go through medical sterilization. One day I may write about her experiences with her secondary sex because PC Taylor has my whole heart and soul.

I have so many other thoughts and feelings about this universe as well as the other characters and how they fit into universe with non-binary biological sex options. I do have a list of where other characters fit into the PCO universe if anyone at all is curious. If anyone has any addition questions or curiosities then feel free to reach out!

There are two versions of Eddie Begins. They exist on different streaming platforms. The Hulu (from what I've been told) and Disney Plus versions both say 2013 for that fight scene, which makes more sense given that Chris is a baby. I believe the 2015 was a continuity error that they correct to say 2013.

I have a theory that Tommy is supposed to be an amalgum of all Buck's past relationships, some being just simple callbacks, others with deeper purpose because they were supposed to be setting Buck up along a specific path that didn't work out when the idea for Buddie was shelved in S4. Abby and Taylor being the most significant of his relationships, therefore having multiple refrences. Some of these are a bit of a stretch, others feel super purposeful.

Firstly the way Buck meets Tommy is through Tommy helping out with the cruiseship that brings Buck and Bobby back together  this is a combination of Abby being the voice on the other end of the line for the call that brought Buck back to the 118 after he was fired AND the helicopter crash that had him meet Taylor.

This next one isn't technically a relationship but I do feel it was a missed plotpoint hint that was supposed to go somewhere and didn't. TK Strand assuming Buck was flirting with him (Buck was - he's just a sweet stupid baby and didn't realize) mirrors Buck and Tommy's first kiss where Buck says he was trying to get someone's attention, Tommy says, "my attention" and that leads to their first kiss and Buck's bi arc.

The next is the first Bummy date. Buck literally choked on his first date with Abby. He then metaphorically chokes on his first date with Tommy. Tommy leaving him at the restaurtant mirrors Taylor leaving him after they hooked up in the news van.

What did Buck do after the news van? Took Ali on a coffee date.

What did he do after the failed date with Tommy? Took him out for coffee.

There's Buck meeting Natalia at the living funeral and taking Tommy with him to the little speach he gives at Billy Boils burial.

This last episode we have multiple callbacks to the reasons that Abby/Buck and Taylor/Buck ended up not working - and it corrects them. This time Buck did the right things.

For their six months Tommy gets Buck Lakers tickets. Something that Buck would have NO interest in. Buck gets him nothing. This mirrors Buck giving Taylor a very thoughtful Christmas gift and Taylor giving him a sweater. In both cases it was a sign the relationship is unbalanced and the parties involved don't communicate well/aren't aware of the others interests.

At the restaurant when the girls are flirting with him Buck doesn't flirt back or get himself in trouble (kissing Lucy) instead he talks with his partner about it. It's the first time there's any mention of the age gap (which would be similar for both Abby and Tommy). That conversation and talk of flirting with other people leads to Buck asking Tommy to move in (which is what he did to try and fix the Lucy situation with Taylor). This time the partner talks about what moving in would actually mean and if they're serious enough for it. And Tommy decides to do something for himself and walks away. (Abby leaving). This also "undoes" the way that Taylor moved in by being a more rational approch to a random "move in with me" being blurted out as a fix rather than a want.

Another fix is this time when Buck's partner walks away and he doesn't understand what's happening he clarifies and confirms that Tommy is breaking up with him. What he should have done with Abby.

The relationship with Tommy has always been a plot device.

People forget that in fandom you’re like. Allowed to believe multiple things simultaneously. And explore all of those things. You can both agree with the opinions that a character is a shithead and that they’re the most amazing person ever and do zero reconciliation between those opinions. You’re allowed to hate a character’s guts and sing their praises at the same time without there being any link between those opinions! It doesn’t have to make sense! Being able to use multiple opinions whether while enjoying media or while creating it fucks hard! It allows you to create multiple perspectives! It even, and stay with me here, allows you to use different perspectives for different stories. I know right?? You can just do that! And no one can stop you! Not even the cops!

You can just write a story where in one you shamelessly make your blorbo the most OP and perfect form of themselves that gets all the guys and galls and palls and another where you mercilessly tear them to bits and have everyone and the universe and the readers cheer as you repeatedly kick their gonads in and it literally doesn’t matter at all! It’s free and fun and good for the soul! Go do it!
