Don’t know what this is but I’m definitely looking it up #proudlylebanese #lebanon #beirut
Oh, simply the best!
Oh my goodness. I thought I was saying masalama to loquats for a very long time when I left Lebanon. Turns out, they might be growing at school. Cannot believe that I didn't know this! Ah! So excited to be going back to school! :)
MEET OUR INTERNS!
Usually, my blog is full of my love for Lebanon but today I decided to do some shameless self promotion. This is the organization that I'm interning at and we do some really cool stuff. We're currently working towards installing water systems in the Jalapa Valley in Nicaragua (100%, so that EVERYONE has access to water). We're not focused on the Middle East... yet. If you feel so inclined, please 'Like' us at our Facebook page. Otherwise, happy Ramadan! :)

The daily roundup of the top 3 news stories in Lebanon [[MORE]] 1) Hezbollah fights alongside Army against Assir in Sidon A two-day battle between Lebanese troops and followers of a radical Sunni cleric, one of the most severe in Lebanon since Syria’s uprising began, has starkly illustrated its perilous instability. It also brought powerful Hezbollah fighters into the fray, pitting the militant group founded to fight Israel against fellow Lebanese. Why it matters: The details of this weren’t confirmed in the first hours after the fighting, it now seems that the discrepancy between Lebanese narratives of the conflict which gloss over or don’t cover Hezbollah participation and Blanford’s work is due to geography. The fact that Hezbollah can so forcefully participate in a military conflict -inside- Lebanon with little backlash is a sign of just how strong a position the party is in. It’s Hezbollah’s country, we are just living in it. 2) Sidon clashes might hasten Cabinet formation BEIRUT: Rival factions may be prompted to make concessions that will accelerate the formation of a new Cabinet following the bloody clashes in Sidon, political sources said Tuesday. “The alarming security situation following the clashes in Sidon might push the March 8 and March 14 parties into making concessions to facilitate the Cabinet formation,” a senior March 8 source told The Daily Star. A senior government source predicted an imminent breakthrough in the Cabinet formation. “Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam is likely to announce the formation of an extraordinary government under extraordinary circumstances in the next few days,” the source told The Daily Star. Why it matters: More fallout from the Sidon battle with Assir. I’m not sure I buy that Salam is clearly going to form a government but I think we will know one way or the other in a month or so. 3) EDL: Power rationing set to ease by FridayBEIRUT: Beirut and Mount Lebanon will suffer from continued electricity rationing until Friday due to maintenance works on the Zahrani-Aramoun grid, Electricite du Liban announced in a statement released Tuesday. The grid was hit during heavy clashes over the past two days in the southern city of Sidon between gunmen of Sheikh Ahmad Assir and the Lebanese Army. “After security was restored to [the] Sidon area, EDL technicians in coordination with the Army have started inspecting the grid which was severely hit due to the clashes in the area … and is working on repairing it,” the statement said. Another transformer would also be installed at Zahrani plant and put to service Friday to replace a malfunctioning one. Maintenance works are also planned at the Jiyye plant. Why it matters: Seems this summer will be a competition for how uncomfortably hot and insecure you can feel in Lebanon. Photo by The Daily Star
