Long time no etc. Here lies a chef's knife thrown together for a kite festival auction. I cannot recall the source of the burl, and the inlay's no great shakes, but my folks allege it raised a little something for whatever.

Pretty much the only time I use a #coal #forge is at the #heritagemuseumoc when I do demos for the children. Today one asked if I was a boy or a girl. My answer, “Does it really matter?” I love indoctrinating the youth! (at Heritage Museum of Orange County)
A fellow from Malaysia wanted a combination kitchen/brush knife based on something else I had for sale, scaled up. The blade was made from a chunk of old circular sawmill blade, and came out to about 6.5” by 3”(at its widest). Handle’s another 6”, with a wide middle—for a strong chopping grip—that necks down dramatically to the bolster for a comfortable chef’s grip in the kitchen. Steel furniture. Cocobolo slabs. Bits that are pointy that I wanted to blunt but WHATEVER IT'S HIS DIME.
Amen.
Huh.

Late modification.
More liberated from their already-featured group shot.
Older work. Worser lighting.
A set of ember tongs with a built in fire steel, based on an 18th century original. Used to light a fire and pick up an ember to light your pipe.

Forge
It's uncanny.
...and needs more sanding.
Weird knife. Coil spring made tantoish in grenadilla and copper. Through tang. Handle shape inspired by a revolver (Chiappa Rhino) I no longer own.
Now I make a sheath, realize the problem with very specific geometry is that it creates the necessity for more very specific geometry to compliment it.
From this day forth: boring rectangles only.
