Hello! My name is Bellwether and I’m an aspiring artist, writer, and biologist. This is blog is home to my current obsession with Sherlock Holmes, among other things.

🪐I’m 21 years old and a junior in college.

🌔 I’m a biology/french double major and planning to go into some form of science communication such as journalism, museum work or teaching.

☁️ I am currently working on a science fiction/apocalyptic novel called Carrington

☀️I was homeschooled my entire childhood

🌏I love anything to do with natural history and practically lived at my local museum as a kid.

in a way john watson is a fantasy (what if you had this brilliant enigmatic friend and what if he liked you in particular and what if he offered you the excitement of youth and adventures and a way out of boring society life and all without having to actually give up your status as a gentleman so you could have the best of both worlds) and in a way sherlock holmes is a fantasy (what if someone never got tired of you despite your various strange habits and mood swings and instead of simply tolerating you they genuinely liked you and what if you didn’t have to live alone forever and what if you never had to give up doing the things you love) and of course there’s the most fantastical part of it all (what if you could afford london housing prices)

You said it better than I could. Of all the inane and ridiculous things I've seen in my notes because of this post, "I NEED to say fuck you to strangers or I will literally die" is certainly one of them

I am so tired of short-attention-span, trim-the-fat culture. All writing advice these days is for how to write like Chuck Palahniuk. "Cut 'think', cut 'feel', cut 'wonder' - only action, only pushing forward, show and move and move and move." What if I could emulate this style, and still don't want to? What if I want to write like Henry James, with three paragraphs of introspective musings between each dialogue line? The music advice is, "make it shortform, make it Tik-Tok compatible, make it punchy, hit the refrain as soon as possible." What if I want that 10-minute prog rock piece? What if I want that symphony? What if I want it slow and luxurious and lazy? Movies. Series. Poetry. Bodies. Everything is "trimmed trimmed trimmed trimmed, stripped bare, you have three seconds to win me over, make it airport chic." I don't want to win you over, then, I guess. I want the fat left it. I want the pleasure and the indolence and the indulgence. Fuck this art-advice that's always "your art needs Ozempic."

Musgrave: its one of the only episodes I've cried to and its mostly because of (duh) the letters but also when Sherlock got called a robot I could not handle that man, too close to home jesus. The Adventure is one of my favorites and its balanced between all 3 members of the pod. Also sherls birthday let's go!!! (Bonus that duckmorganduck drew it cause theyre my fav sherlock and co artist and I showed like everyone I knew it)

Wisteria: I listened to this on a road trip during summer with the window down and I live in MT so road trips here are always really pretty so I have like a core memory with this ep. Also the story and Adventure was so good I kept cornering people to talk about it lol.

Silverblaze: I mean theres a horse murder guys come on. Also if you know me you know how obsessed I am with horses its actually crazy my one goal in life is to have a horse im gonna like the horse episode man. Silverblaze's vibe is also so good i love my boys.

Mine are Thor Bridge, Charles Augustus Milverton, and Hound of the Baskervilles!

ThorBridge was the episode that got me obsessed with this podcast, I love the ending scene so much because Sherlock is so absolutely insane and it kills me. Also there are so many soft John and Sherlock moments, from Sherlock offering to hold John’s hand, to the hugging machine, to the dead body reveal it really feels like they’re becoming good friends in this one, you know?

I love Milverton (episode not character) because it’s one of my favorite short stories in canon, and i love how they pulled it off. It’s when the big mystery starts building and it leads so seamlessly into Scandal. It also confirmed queer sherlock sooooo

And finally Hound. I liked the book but the podcast brought it to life so vividly and i absolutely adore it. Mariana plays such a cool role in it, and i love the reunion of John and Sherlock. It plays with time in a lot of really cool ways, and it really sums up all the reasons I love this podcast.
