Federal Judges are appointed. This judge was a Clinton appointee until 2016. In 2014, he protected same sex marriage in Florida. Meaning reelecting a Democratic president who sucked paid off for the queer community 15 years later.

He is now a state judge which is an elected position in Florida. He attempted to protect formerly incarcerated people from having to pay back legal fees to get back the right to vote. The ruling against this voting rights abuse was overturned by a supreme court with 1/3 Trump appointees. Failing to stop Trump resulted in 1,132,493 people losing the right to vote.

In a single term, Trump appointed 28% of federal judges. That number is higher than two term president George w. Bush (who appointed 20% of currently sitting Judges)

People showing up in a red state and voting for a liberal judge meant they had a huge hand in protecting trans healthcare NOW.

For the love of God, VOTE like your trans neighbors' lives depend on it... because they do.

a couple things gen alpha may not know about the differences between cell phones and payphones:

cell phones often don't work during disasters or other unusually high phone traffic. payphones are landlines, so they still work as long as they're not cut from their line.

this is also true for some remote areas: there's a reason people working on remote sites (camp sites, forestry, emergency responders, etc.) have landlines, especially in places with changeable weather that could affect radio/walkie talkies/cell service.

payphones are extra important if someone is being threatened or held against their will: a kidnapper or other nefarious person could take/break a cell phone, but the payphone is bolted to the ground, and it would look suspicious if they dragged a victim away from it. a while ago a lost kid used a payphone to call 911.

in a similar vein, many emergency systems haven't been updated to keep up with modern cell phones (we haven't even had maps on our phones for 10 years yet), so depending on where you live it can be difficult for dispatchers to figure out where you are if you're using a cell phone. since payphones don't move, dispatchers know exactly where they are and can send help faster.

to be clear, i'm not hating on cell phones (you'd have to pry mine from my cold dead hands) BUT i do think physical emergency phones and payphones fill a really important gap! it would be a hit to general safety if we lost them completely, especially for poorer or more remote folks.

The thing about having and clearly expressing healthy boundaries is that it makes your partner feel safe, too. I grew up around people who wouldn't clearly express what they wanted or didn't want me to do, only quietly tolerated whatever I was doing that they didn't like, until they wouldn't, and then snapped at me for having obliviously annoyed them this entire time. I got tested for autism several times for never learning how to read minds.

My boyfriend has learned to express boundaries for intimacy in his sleep. Literally. He sleeps with just a sheet for a blanket during the summer due to the heat, and if I'm awake when he isn't, I can request cuddles by gently trying to tug the blanket from him, to crawl under it for skin-to-skin contact. If he wants me there, he lets me, and he'll roll over and wrap around me as gentle but inevitable as sweet summer rain. And if he doesn't, I won't push.

This one time I was the big spoon, and he gently pulled away and drew the blanket over his back like the curtain of a theatre stage. Show's over, done cuddling, my cue to turn over to my own side of the bed. And this morning, when I woke up before him, I tried to tug his blanket just a little just to see if it's cuddle time. And he gripped the blanket corner in his fist comically fast. Like shup. No cuddles. And I'm glad he does that - I don't want to be there if he doesn't want me there.

Love isn't about sacrificing your own happiness for the sake of someone else's. It's about not being able to be happy yourself unless your loved ones are happy too.

Cas doesn't really use pet names for Dean but occasionally he will call him something in Enochian that always makes Dean weak in the knees.

And then one day, as Cas is sat by himself in the library, he hears a sudden guffaw ring through the corridor, recognisable as Gabriel's. Followed by a "Dean..." from Sam that is clearly meant to sound placating but instead sounds more like he's trying to hold back a laugh of his own.

Footsteps beat down the corridor, swiftly approaching the library as Dean blusters his way in. Spotting Cas immediately, he throws his arms wide.

"Your pet name for me is 'human'?!"

Cas simply stares back at Dean, completely unmoved. "You call me angel. Frequently."

"Yeah, but..." he splutters. Hesitates. Flusters.

Cas raises an eyebrow and waits.

Dean scowls back at him, red-faced, points a threatening finger at him and then just...turns on his heel and flees the room.
