Growing up is realizing that the reason Gon is so hated is because people hate imperfect victims. A actual child can’t react like a child. He must be completely able to handle all the ptsd and trauma maturely. If not he’s the worst person ever /sarcasm

It’s also why I’m personally annoyed at the take that was prevalent a couple years ago that Gon is the one that needs to beg and suffer for forgiveness from Killua. Not only that’s not in character for Killua but also this sorta gives me the vibes that people can’t make mistakes. If they do they are evil and need to show some sort of penance.

I do want their relationship to be subtlety different but in the way both realize they are children and can equally depend on each other. They do need to talk about what happened. Primarily because Gon was literally about to kill himself at age 12 and generally they need to communicate.

Hunter x Hunter is a world that victimizes children. Chrollo is literally an adult that was victimized so much he decided to become a monster. Hell! We all know the fucking horrible shot the Kakin Empire is doing! Or literally how the Zoldycks have inherited abuse to become strong. Or generally the whole concept of Meteor City with people abandoning babies there.

I can see him doing everything he could to help her once he finds out that he was inadvertently making things worse when he was trying to reassure her. He starts learning everything he can about ocd and how to treat it.

As I have been re-reading the manga I think that this scene in the manga comes off more intense on Gon's part.

I have always thought that Gon saying this was very telling about how he feels about Killua, but it is the way it is framed in the manga that it gives it more emphasis.

In the anime adaptations Gon's words come off as more casual cause they suit his expressive nature, but it is like the manga makes Gon's declarations of love more special. it is the way they are emphasized that they really come off as if they are meant for Killua and only Killua.

I don't know how to explain it, but it is like the manga does a better job on how Gon feels about Killua in comparison to the anime versions that focus on Killua's reactions instead which seems to reduce the impact of Gon's words.

I kinda have the feeling that the gayer one is Gon in the manga up to the greed island arc lmao. I have always thought that Gon was the one to have developed feelings and the way the manga is written supports it more.

I think Gon being more and more affectionate is what caused Killua's feelings to grow and evolve. At first he became protective of him after Gon retrieved him from the mansion, but the more Gon showed how important and irreplaceable Killua is to him, the more Killua's feelings grew. I feel the manga does a better job at showing why Killua feels so strongly towards Gon, it's because Gon has felt strongly towards him all this time.
