sorry for suicide baiting you online can i still go to your chuck e. cheese birthday party
not to be like the dad in wolfwalkers saying “i’m afraid! ...... i’m afraid...” was one of the most hard-hitting moments of anything i’ve seen this year but everyone i was watching it with audibly gasped at that line
Daaaaaaaamn... I wasn't expecting something like that, like AT ALL.
When Robyn asked hurtfully "Why??", I saw something coming like "Because that's how it should be", "Because we must live this way", "Because its the right thing to do"... And then he just yells back "I'M AFRAID!!!!!... I'm afraid...", and you can see the fear in his eyes, and the way he realizes of his feelings in that moment...
It's such a powerful and unique moment in animation, because, how often do you see an animated (or real life) father/parent openly admitting to its child that the only reason why he follows society's rules it's because he's afraid of what could happen if he doesn't, not because he has a conviction in them or finds comfort in being obedient??
And as a child who's naturally a rebel, and has been forced into blind obedience towards every authority figure, that moment means a whole different level of intimacy in filmmaking representation ♥
yes exactly!!! it was this totally unexpected jolt of catharsis and it’s exactly the thing it feels like animation in the past decade’s provided that nothing else can really replicate, these story beats you almost see coming and then are just suddenly so raw. nothing else manages to feel quite like the makers are saying we know what this means and we know how it makes you feel the way that does
gamer (derogatory)

The sign of high quality is the fact the book was banned by the government. Trash literature NEVER EVER had any troubles with the law.
FARENHEIT 451 IS ON THE BANNED BOOKS LIST??? IT’S LITERALLY ABOUT THE SOCIETAL DANGERS OF BANNING/OUTLAWING/BURNING BOOKS ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME
That’s the reason it’s on the bloody list.
BECAUSE IT’S ABOUT HOW BANNING AND BURNING BOOKS IS WRONG.
HERE’S ALL THE PDF VERSIONS I COULD FIND SINCE WE’RE ALL IN QUARANTINE AND WE CAN’T PHYSICALLY GET THE BOOKS WE DON’T HAVE
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
The Autobiography of Malcolm X
Beloved
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (this was the only free version I could find, and it’s a downloadable thing, so do so with caution)

The Catcher in the Rye
Fahrenheit 451
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Gone With the Wind
The Grapes of Wrath
The Great Gatsby
Howl
In Cold Blood
Invisible Man
The Jungle (personally I don’t like this formatting, but the site doesn’t look sketchy so…) - there’s also this which is the proper book format in a pdf, but it’s directly photocopied so it might be hard to read some of the print

Native Son
Our Bodies, Ourselves (we learned about this one in APUSH!)
The Red Badge of Courage
The Scarlet Letter

Cherry pick much?
The problem isn’t cherry picking or enforcement as a whole, the problem is holding the responsible parties actually accountable for abuses of power.
So let’s reblog a “public service appreciation day” post trashing cops specifically created to stir up the anti police sentiment.
Dude I get nothing but hate for a uniform I wear on this site enough, I expected better than this.
You raised alot of interesting points that I can definitely see your point of view in, but on the other hand, have you ever considered getting a real job and not beating your wife?
