Boardwalk Palettes | Bill Fallon
this transcript has turned into ‘let’s watch William Joseph Fallon make an art and legal triumph of being a pest.’ i am absolutely here for this.
on which note, Fallon during an extended argument: “You see, Mr. Myers is always facetious, but never logical.”
ass ass ass ass ass.
Reblog if you RP a character from the 1920s.
good lord. you are children. children bickering.
so Myers just asked (friggin’ again) for Fallon to be instructed to sit away from the witness (Arnstein). and.
Mr. Fallon: I suppose my friend does not want this man to have the advantage here of counsel at all. Mr. Myers: I think he will tell the truth if you let him. I think he would like to tell the truth. Mr. Fallon: I know you like to think what other people think, instead of thinking what you ought to think for yourself.
i am applauding the fuck out of that last part. and shaking my head. and applauding some more.
☁ - If they’re caught out in the rain how do they react?
if Bill’s out walking with an acquaintance or friendly client, he’s likely to make a joke of it. point out passersby who seem particularly woebegone. talk loudly about how refreshing the water is. wonder aloud whether this is the great flood come again, here to purge the city of its wickedness.
if he’s with a lady friend, Fallon’ll probably offer seeking some sort of shelter. He would offer an umbrella, but he never carries one. (he’s purchased an umbrella or two, but they ended up gathering dust in a corner.) he will vocally regret not having an umbrella. if they’re near a shop, he’ll probably offer to buy one.
if he’s with Gene, the odds are good that McGee will have an umbrella. if McGee offers to share with Fallon, Fallon will probably accept. actually, if any acquaintance offers to share an umbrella, Fallon’ll probably accept. standing under umbrellas is not a point of pride. (unless it’s Arnold’s umbrella. in that case, it becomes an excuse to irritate.)
when McGee is miffed at Fallon, he won’t offer to share the umbrella. Fallon will then walk several steps away from McGee, just to show how much he didn’t want to share the umbrella in the first place. because he’s mature like that.
...i was going to say Fallon’s at least mature enough not to muck about in puddles, but you know what? if he’s out drinking with friends, if it’s late and all of them are deep into carousing, there probably would be some puddle-stomping.

I do enjoy a good swim.
Would you plan on joining me? Or would that constitute a crime against prosecutorial dignity?

two things.
one: i’m going to try to at least look at this blog once in a while. if my brain behaves, may try some interactions. we’ll see how life runs.
two: the mun is trash and stole Fallon’s old url for her personal blog. i’m now tracking ‘besmirch this’ for Fallon’s journal, though i’ll still see tags without the space.
yep. those are the things.

usual expression/mood
I had the most absurd dream last night.
Bill was a knight in lackluster armor and terrible hair, and he was trying to save me – when I had no need for saving, mind you.
It was quite humurous. As if Bill Fallon had the courage and strength to be a knight…
Arnold Rothstein in need of salvation I can understand, but Bill Fallon with bad hair? That really is absurd. Perhaps you should cut the warm milk before bed, Arnold. If it’s corrupting your mind so horribly, I wouldn’t like to think what it’s doing to your insides.
I hope there was a dragon.
I hope you have a happy birthday. I planned on gettin' you some scotch, only I don't think Mr. Thompson would take too kindly if I borrowed from the supply I'm meant to be protecting. (mrpouffles)
A wise decision: if past experience is any indication, Mr. Thompson becomes exceptionally tedious when upset. And you and I both know he’s an awful boor to begin with.
You take care, Mr. Sleater. I’ll owe you a drink next time we see each other.
He does, that. I suppose you’d prefer the company of this old bore than an awful boor?
You’re much too kind. If there’s anything in the world doling out dues, I do hope you’re given an excellent year.
As it turns out, the awful boor is also lord of the bores, which makes two substantial strikes against Mr. Thompson. And you've yet to take on the status of inveterate downer. I'll admit you're coming close, but loosen up once or twice a year and there's little danger of following in your employer's footsteps.
I'm sure the year to come will be a fine one. In fact, whatever the Great Doler In The Sky may decide, I'm determined to see it become a success.
On a more serious note, happy birthday, Bill. You're ... You've been a capable lawyer and an agreeable conversationalist.
I think we both know I'm better than capable.
But since even that's more than you'll usually admit, I suppose I can accept your felicitations. So thank you, Arnold; that's very generous of you.
[this is private and i may have been drinking i probably should not have sent this] Arnold. I know I can be an awful ass, but you must admit you're no better (you DO think rather too highly of yourself, you know). That said, I would be sorely disappointed if you-- What I mean to say is that I... do occasionally value your company. You aren't the worst rodent in the sewers. And I hope your birthday wasn't a complete bore. You know, you might let yourself have a drink to celebrate.
… Heh. You are something else, Bill.
Oh. So. I did send that, after all.
So I hear, Arnold. So I hear.
Fallon & McGee, partners in law
"Together, you were the greatest team that ever hit town." -Arnold Rothstein in The Great Mouthpiece
"Brilliant though he was, and the most ingenious trial lawyer at the criminal bar, Fallon never could have flared so dazzlingly had there been no McGee." -Gene Fowler, The Great Mouthpiece
"They were a great team, Fallon and McGee: Fallon, tall, suave, easy, eloquent; McGee, dark, bull-shouldered, and bull-necked, with a slight hesitation in his speech which […] detracted nothing from his remarkable knowledge of all there was to be known by any one human being of the crooks and crannies of the criminal law […]." -Donald Henderson Clarke, In the Reign of Rothstein
