Hey there, Minnesotan here.
Are you outside of Minnesota, but want to know whatâs going on with the ICE occupation? Check out:
On Site a local independent news organization covering accurate news here.
Toussaint Morrison, who writes for On Site but has a lot of good coverage
Georgia Fort, an independent journalist covering whatâs happening on the ground
And of course, the videos being posted directly to social media from people on the ground.
National news is not covering everything thatâs happening here. (Almost like thatâs on purpose.) But these are helpful, local sources to Minnesota to provide an accurate depiction of whatâs really happening here.
Are you outside of Minnesota and looking to help?
Donate to the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee
MN ICE Watch not only sends updates about federal activity, but also highlights individuals affected where you can donate or send help to our neighbors impacted by ICE.
These links go to those sourcesâ Instagram profiles. And I will edit this post with more, itâll remain a living document.
A final note: You may have seen posts on social media about what itâs like here. Believe them. It is that bad. It is that scary. They are kicking doors down. They are demanding to see identity papers if youâre simply walking on the street.
My sister is a teacher, and they were driving around her school yesterday. A middle school.
They are offering people money to out undocumented immigrants or protest organizers. That link is a firsthand account of someone who was detained, and asked those very questions.
They are taking our neighbors.
This is an occupation.
I donât have a lot of followers, so hoping the tags can help spread this far and wide.
*not my usual content* *Minnesota update*
We see military vehicles around now. It's not clear if its our own MN national guard or if its Trump sending in the army. If its the latter, we will be under full military occupation soon. I suspect we will be under full military occupation soon. It is uncalled for and there is no reason to do it other than Trump using MN as his testing ground for a full dictatorship.
We are protesting peacefully. ICE is attacking. The man who was shot in the leg - listen to the newly released 911 phone call from his family. The government lied to the people again - like we knew they would.
How can you help? Send money to our local food shelves. Share what you see on social media. Find law firms that are helping detainees and donate to reduce legal fees. If you're in the US, call your politicians. Your state is not exempt to this. ICE will come and they will come in a force that will stop you in your tracks. If you're outside of the US and there's any way that you can push your own government to look at taking in those who may seek asylum, please do so.

"Itâs a joke" I donât care. the audience review bombed that episode because of that scene, itâs the lowest rated episode when the finale is right there! theyâve spent all this time making jokes about willâs bar scene with jeffrey dahmer!!
this just opens the door for people to mock the scene even more, to mock will, because theyâre mocking will, not the situation, not the number of people in the room, not the writing, but the fact that will is gay, just like they did in s4.
and the actor who plays him, who is also gay and has talked about how badly he had it while filming that scene, isnât even there. but his co-stars, who have a habit of sidelining him and have said and done questionable things are there. and please donât say they didnât know, they know the show, they know how things go, and even if they didnât write the scene, theyâre still the face of the episode.
You guys know that it was possible for Finn, Gaten and Caleb to turn down a job opportunity that made fun of a deeply personal moment for their queer castmate and friend. Especially after the deluge of homophobia both the character and actor faced in the very recent past? Especially when Noah pointedly wasnât there himself to take part in any jokes? When he spoke about the scene being both emotionally taxing for him and cathartic because he never got the chance to come out to his castmates IRL? When he spoke about much the character of Will helped Noah come to terms with his own sexuality?
Yeah sure no one knows how Noah actually feels about SNL making fun of Will being gay but I know how I do!

These ICE agents (some brought in, some definitely local as Iâve seen a few admit on camera) are just thugs whoâve been given a gun with clearly no weapons training. Iâve seen so many instances of hands on the trigger, cocking the gun sideways for stops like theyâre gangsters, just taking ANY opportunity to brandish their weapons with the intent to intimidate. Taking a $50k check to sell out their communities and in some cases, neighbors. Surprisingly or not a lot of these ICE guys are clearly the children or descendants of immigrants themselvesâ how do they think thatâs gonna go for them?
Unclear why someone would oppose describing immigration agents as American Gestapo given 1) that they're doing their damnedest to operate like it, and 2) that the Trump administration and DHS in particular openly embrace Nazi rhetoric and symbolism. ICE and CBP go around brutalizing and abducting non-white people, and not just immigrants, and they use violence and threats of violence to suppress dissent. They're intentionally assaulting indigenous people on tribal lands, people they know for certain are US citizens, because they feel they can claim they look "illegal." They're using black immigrant communities as an excuse for stop-and-frisk assaults. They're asking white people to point out their non-white neighbors' houses, ffs. They're straightforwardly acting as a racial intimidation force. Their attacks on observers and threats against those who would stand in their way are similarly Gestapo-like. They're putting Nazi slogans in their own recruitment ads. If they were able to twist the "illegal immigrant" narrative to target Jews, too, they would. For warranting comparison, there is no standard, however high, however absurd, that isn't met. It's warranted. The Gestapo comparison is warranted specifically. Do you want people to wait until they're as effective, as hard to counter as their predecessors? Is that it? Finally, if the issue is more that one has determined one's role in our time can only be "useful idiot," the objection still goes way above and beyond what's necessary.
