a lot of people complain about the accessibility of theatre and i one hundred percent agree. itâs hard to see the live shows you always want when tickets are so expensive and they are broadway shows.
but please please please IF you can, support your local community theatre/ high school theatre productions. they might not be putting on your favorite pop rock musical but youâd be surprised: you might find yourself falling in love with a more classic or less popular show. they will not always be the most polished, but keep in mind that smaller productions put in a LOT of work to put on the best show they possibly can. these shows are inexpensive to see and seeing them shows local support of the arts.
so please, support the performing arts in your town if you can. itâs something fun and inexpensive to do with your fellow theatre loving friends, or perhaps a family outing or date. while you lament that you canât afford to see your favorite musical on broadway, maybe just take the time to buy a ten or fifteen-dollar ticket to a local production. these are the kind of small steps we as art consumers and artists need to make theatre more accessible.
