breaking bad, fight club, rick and morty, clockwork orange, and the catcher in the rye are all arguably good things - but if a man says they are his FAVORITE book/movie/tv show? RUN.
Can someone explain this to me?
They’re all works that are examinations of compelling but deeply flawed (usually narcissistic and violent) men. People rightly like all these works because they are good, but the implication of the original post is that if a guy says they are his favorite work, he is probably misunderstanding the point of the work and instead idolizing the male protagonist and is unable to recognize their flaws.
Basically, ask why they like it. If they like it because they think it’s well-written and made, you’re probably good. But if they want to be like Walter White, or Tyler Durden, or Rick Sanchez, or Alex DeLarge, or Holden Caulfield: yeah, RUN.
Finally I can reblog this post.
This also goes for Mad Men, run like hell from any guy who identifies with/idolizes Don Draper
“It’s a satire. Many don’t get that… My daughter had a friend named Max. She told me ‘Fight Club’ is his favorite movie, I told her never to talk to Max again.” David Fincher, director of Fight Club
I'm crying! 😂
Thoughts on The Wicked King- Spoilers.
Okay, I have many thoughts, but I really only want to talk about my thoughts on Caran’s motivation and my one wild fan theory that probably isn’t true but is possible.
1) I don’t buy the idea that Cardan sent Jude away to protect her. Jude consistently bests anyone who comes for her, and Cardan is 100% aware of that. She has done it to him many times. I also don’t think either of their reactions to having feelings for each other is to react with protectiveness. Their feelings towards each other don’t exactly breed softness or sweeping romantic gestures. So why did he send her away? I think a small part was because of Balekin, but he also realized that he needed to really rule if he was going face off with Orlagh and win. He also knew he could not be an effective ruler with Jude around because she’s his weak spot. He’ll give too much to get her back and trust too easily if the request comes from her mouth. He knows this, and he knows that the court and other rulers see this. He’s choosing the well-being of his kingdom over Jude. Frankly, that’s really responsible and indicates so much character growth for Cardan.
2) Weird fan theory that probably isn’t true but would make for interesting dynamic regarding the line of succession. Jude could be pregnant? About a week after she and Cardan have sex, Jude has to stop taking her poisons because she’s kidnapped by the Undersea, and we never see her start taking them again because she’s exiled within days of her return. The story ends too quickly for pregnancy to become apparent, and we know that the fae sometimes have children with humans because they are more likely to actually conceive.
Well, Cardan clearly has never heard the saying about a happy wife making for a happy life.

My husband refuses to refer to Cairn as anything other than Karen.
KoA Spoilers.
So Aelin is totally one of the Starfall spirit things, right?
My husband is creating a The Cruel Prince playlist because he's fucking adorable.
My husband and I do this thing where we trade media. He reads a book. I watch a tv show or try a podcast, etc. Right now he’s reading The Cruel Prince, and he picked me up from work today in full conspiracy theory mode. I think he might like it.
Power move: calling all books written by men about male characters “Men’s fiction”
“I want to speak to a manager,” the middle-aged woman said in her stern I-used-to-be-a-soccer-mom-ten-years-ago voice, looking down at me over the top of her Gucci reading glasses.
A wicked grin split across my face and the gates of Hell opened up behind me, releasing a gust of hot wind that whipped my apron around my body and forced the woman to shield her face. Demons came forth, dancing around in flames with songs of, “She wants to speak to a manager. Did you hear that? She wants to speak to a manager!” before erupting into earsplitting shrieks of laughter, none louder than my own cackling.
I took in the woman’s look of utter horror before my eyes rolled back into my head and I growled,
“I am the manager.”
a thing for one of my favorite posts on this site

This powder is ideal for drawing luck, money, and job opportunities. Sprinkle some of it into a burning candle, dust some over your body before going out or add some of it to a hot bath.
Grind & Combine:
Green or white Eggshells for prosperity and fortune
Basil for wealth and success
Green mint for money and abundance
Fennel for luck
I’ve used this powder spell for almost a year now and it never fails me. Hope it can help you all too!

🔥 Burnable Spellboxes 🔥
For spells, rituals or offerings!
I just made some offering boxes to put into the wickercreature at Castlefest, so I wanted to share some ideas! I had this idea for a while and finally found some time and energy to make some.
What you need:
🔥 Pretty patterned paper (I got some paper blocks from the dollar store)
🔥 Spell ingredients/Offerings (anything goes as long as it burns)
🔥 Cord/wool/linnen ribbon (remember: natural fibers)
🔥 Optional: pretty flowers for the top!
What you do:
Find a favourite tutorial for an origami box online. I used this one. And fold your pretty papers into a box. If you want, decorate the box a bit more. I made three: one for the Goddess Baduhenna, one for Nehalennia and one for the Horned God. I designed bindrunes for them and put them on the bottom of the boxes.
I got some fresh flowers from my garden and wrote down some poems (and made my own) to dedicate to the Gods. Then I added some herbs, lots of Marjoram as a taglock (my name means Marjoram) and even a bit of my favourite perfume. I wanted to make it as personal as possible.
Now simply close them and tie them shut. I used wool in the colours that matched the deities I’m making them for. I also tied some pretty flower to the top!
And there it is! Now my boxes are ready to be sacrificed! Of course you can substitute any offerings by spell ingredients to make it into a spellbox! Have fun, and as always, feel free to tag me when you make these! 🌙
Books with Morally Ambiguous Characters
I thought I might share my personal favorite books with evil or morally ambiguous characters since you’ve all shared your favorites.
Vicious
(main character is awesome and very grey)
The golden compass
(really goes into detail what evil and good really mean and has a ton of morally questionable characters in the second book)
The Bartimaeus trilogy
(main character does a lot of bad shit for selfish reasons but you still love him anyways somehow?? And there’s a lot of themes involving systematic oppression and propaganda manipulation and ethics)
The curseworkers
(the main character is constantly put into situations where he has to choose the lesser of two evils. Not to mention mafia families)
Six of crows
(do I even have to say…?)
Howls moving castle
(howl is seen as morally ambiguous in the beginning because of his reputations, so this technically counts. Also I love this book to death)
I hunt killers
(so the main character is super psychopathic and manipulative and overall a creepy ass person. He’s always questioning whether or not he’s truly a good person or just pretends to be or is hiding something worse. This psychological thriller is fucking incredible and underrated.)
The name of the wind
(the main character is the most realistically human I’ve ever met. He’s so real I can touch him. He’s also very morally ambiguous in ways I can’t say because it’s all spoilerly)
Artemis Fowl
(greedy selfish 12 year old criminal mastermind kidnapps a fairy for ransom money. What I love about this series is that he grows throughout the books and his character is constantly developing. He is definitely morally ambiguous and has no problem embracing his cunniving and devious nature)
The Cruel Prince
( every character is an asshole. Every. Character. No excuses, no secrets, just pure assholes. And you’ll love them)
The lies of Locke Lamora
(one of my ALLTIME favorite books. Locke lamora is like a darker shade of grey. He’s selfish, slightly murderous, incredibley human and very handsome. This motherfucker is the leader of a group of conmen who steal money from the rich but keep it for themselves. They are grade A smart assess and they have to make actual hard choices that really determine their character. I’m not gonna say more because there’s no way I can fit this masterpiece into a small summery bye)
The wrath and the Dawn
(The Prince is such a morally grey character. As you read on you’ll question whether or not he actually kills his brides or if there’s another deeper mystery to him. His choices are very questionable and very….bad? I can’t describe how amazing these books are)
